North East Championships [NEC] X Results Thread

NEC X Street Fighter Alpha 2 Results

**Here’s one more result you people missed:

Street Fighter Alpha 2 Results:

1 Jeron ($60)
2 Matt Frank
3 D Nyce :
4 Comeback
5 Ed
5 Chirotob
7 Edward Hung
7 Bill G
9 Dave D
9 JD
9 Hobbs
9 Ghost Cobra

Apparently, the majority of the people here paid for an Alpha 3 tourney, but due to lack of time, the money was pitted for a winner-takes-all, resulting in Jeron taking it in an intense set with Matt Frank.

In the future, should people want to request an Alpha series tournament in the future, I will be glad to organize and create brackets for it, HANDS DOWN- as well as other tourneys necessary.

See you all in the next event!

i get so hyped hopefully my matches will deserve the same

Guys we will post the full sf4 results up by weds, and i mean the full result.

My only complaints would be next time we should probably have just all CRT, I personally didn’t have any problem with the setups but I know people who complained about it. If they spoke up or not I do not know, but I think it’d be best to eliminate that in the future if possible. Perhaps Widescreen CRTs so SF4/Tekken 6 can still look nice?

Putting the hype SF4 matches on multiple screens was a REALLY good idea and helped the congestion. Perhaps this should be expanded on in the future?

I think many people were DQ’d because tournaments ran very close to one another at times, it made it somewhat difficult for people to participate at the same time (especially with running across the hotel to get to Tekken 6). Perhaps a more concrete time schedule next time? I’m not sure, just trying my best to contribute.

The hotel was amazing, loved the room, very cozy. The security (that salty old man) was annoying on Saturday night though, but that’s his job I guess.

When it came to some of the DQ’s, some folks were being lenient and that can create problems, when I was asked to step in and help keep the bracket running smooth, Spero Gin also helped me out a lot and we kept that place cooking.

an example of a DQ:

Call out with the Bullhorn in the Tekken room.
Call out with the Bullhorn in the SF4 room.
No communication of a tourney for this person in any other capacity
Call out in the Tekken room, 5-10 mins given
moved on to the next match while his opponent waits on deck
after next set of matches one more call in the Tekken room
DQ’d & their opponent moves on.

that is fair beyond measure. while it can suck to wait on a long bracket, its not fair to keep the whole tournament waiting on people that are not talking to the tourney handlers. if someone tells us they are in matches and we call them and we are told they are playing in those matches, we move on to the next match and come back to this player later. That can hold up the tourney but we can understand why and work with that.

another example, one player was DQ’d after the above attempts did not work to get him, we had no idea where he was. Tourney started at 12pm on Sunday,

this player walks in at 2pm…and complains he was DQ’d…O_O

2pm…complained that he wanted to ask for special permission because he needed to leave the state and come back, can you imagine if we give everyone special permission to take 2 hours to appear for their matches…ARE YOU SERIOUS…

I can be pretty mercilous about attendance at a tournament. To me you’re players competing at a major and you are expected to be present, playing other competitions simultaneously being understood - waiting, presenting when called (meaning listening when called) and being patient for your matches is a part of this life. I know…132+ people on a bracket is not easy, this is serious business…

especially if people are making attempts to call you and get you from your hotel room…or wherever else you are as opposed to being in another match somewhere else or waiting on your match to come up.

There were a few reversals, and that was at the discretion of the organizers, I normally would never reverse a decision because its arbitrary, I keep it to the book. I reversed one decision because it was a mistake made by another organizer and we were able to fix the issue without it affecting the tournament.

Running these puppies is hard enough without trying to break the rules.

with all that said, much love again, and crap I missed Spero Gin in my shoutouts…DUDE~! Your awesome, and thank you for helping me on Sunday wrangling the players to make it nice and smooth.

This tourney for me had so many ups and downs because I got Dq’d in two tourneys and did well in games I didn’t even practice for. :wasted::wasted:

SHouts:

I have no respect of players who feel they should have special treatment with nay of a good excuse. Leaving for two hours to expect to see your match on hold still is disgraceful. I tried my best to always be present and even asked the people handling the brackets if I was in their particular bracket just so I could stay close and cause less issues.

I have to say MAD respect for going around with the Bullhorn to find people, that was VERY nice of you guys when you could’ve easily DQ’d them.

Nice meeting all the xbox live people for the first time and if anyone I fought wants some rematches or Fei-Long practice just send me a friend request, I’m always down for matches.

Rico - GG’s and you still have my x-box wire, no big deal, I’m sure i’ll see you at more tournaments and I’m considering joining DMG. GG’s to hatrify too.

MA crew - CP, Dan, Asain Tom, Defcon, and that Zangief player who’s name I can’t remember. Good shit you all keep getting better, making MA look strong. I’m doing my best to represent R.I. and shut up all the Fei haters.

Empire Arcadia - First time I’ve met allot of you guys but now know why I hear your name all the time, you guys are all solid players. I was definitely nervous in the beginning of the tournament with seeing pro’s for the first time. I’m still a noob to tournament pressure so I didn’t talk to you guys much but I want to take some trips down and get some practice with you. If that’s cool with you, anyone from there just send me a PM as to what day and when most of you are there, I’d appreciate it and wont play like a scrub against you. Thank you Sanford for the rounds and your advice btw, much appreciated and hope I get rematches.

EvilLee - I’m a much better player today because of you, thank you for the advice, the Sagat practice, and everything else. I’ll be pissed if you stop competing but I’ll keep in touch and always keep working on my Fei shenanigans, and yea I know not to throw chicken wing across the screen like a scrub. See you on xbox.

To everyone else I met, had a great time thanks for the bud, booze, matches, and headaches in the morning. Was good a experience for me and ill probably end up seeing most of you again.

haha man, I’m alright, me and LK were drinking before we played in your room, and I think the alcohol was affecting him more than me.

In our match, I played so dumb I’m pissed at myself :(. Kept falling for backdash grab >_<

GGs Badfish. I want revenge some time!

MBAA sidebets were godlike. At one point, there was more money on that PS2 than there was in the pot. I was $80 up after all the sidebets.

HOOOOOOLD THAAAAAAAAAT
hey flash, FREE?

Sorry about dq’ing you guys

  1. In regards to Jibbo’s team, I had his team by his name and called for him multiple times ran other matches until i couldn’t hold the brackets anymore. Unfortunately I do not know what he looks like and was hoping because he is known player in the area someone who knew him would have gotten him, eventho this did not happen I did give his team ample time before the brackets could not be held up anymore and dq’d him.

  2. henaki at least your understand with your teams situation i did not have the name of the players on the team(this was only an issue for some teams, some teams had signed up and listed the players on the teams and region) Crappy because you were in front of me the majority of the time.

To people I dq’d I apologize if you feel it was unfair but if you showed up afterward and I did not skip your match I did accommodate you back in to play your match( i did this a couple of times ). In alot of cases people would tell me they knew where the person was and I would hold things up until they came down/back and then had their match. I understand the rooms were pack and even with the megaphone it was very hard for people to hear their names being called. If i could not find a player in one room I would check byoc then tekken (sf4 teams & majority of sf4 singles) people only got dq’d once brackets couldn’t be held up any more (average of about 20-30 mins). Alot of times people would be advised they were playing next then walk away to watch another match/smoke/bathroom etc then causing another 15-20 min delay. sf4 singles was 211 people and teams was 62 teams (182 people). Ill post more on this later as my throat is on fire from all the yelling for peoples names

yo real talk jeron we gota play alpha 2 man. record it make it the matches of the year for a2. even tho the odds are angainst me with u playin chunli, guys worst match up i need that challenge son. get on ggpo!!! lol

Good Games…

i had a blast at NEC, look forward to doing it again

I’m listing to your complaints guys, and I will fix all the little problems trust me.

Walter pm me your number.

Also how did you guys like the hotel.

other than the size/location of the game rooms (playing in one of the side rooms felt kind of like a side show) it was great… the hotel was really nice and the location was cool because you didnt have to go into the city at all.
