AH is about as slow as CvS1. Much slower than CvS2.
man…fuck a cvs1 tourney…that shit takes forever and the 4 button thing is lame.
lets do a cvs2 random groove+characters side tourney instead. see who REALLY knows how to play without their sagat,bison,blanka,cammy. that could be fun!:looney:
why is it that when AH came out, people in the thread were telling me that it was a lot faster than i thought just from watching it… after i watched it…i was like… LAME!.. and people were telling me it’s really fast and shit… fuck that.
in high level play it seems pretty fast
so i’m going to assume that the play that i saw at CTF last summer wasn’t close to high level play…? or? show me a video… lol

this to me… seems mildly fast… but don’t forget… i’m used to marvel, big bang beat, and virtua fighter… this game seems only slightly slower than guilty gear to me… and guilty gear is bordering fast for me… although, i don’t play guilty gear, so i don’t know the actual pace of the game, but i’ve seen some instances where i can’t even figure out who’s doing the combos…
The thing with Arcana is that there’s load times to account for. You can’t skip the VS screen.
Then you gotta account for people setting up their button configs. Then that they can’t read japanese, so someone else has to set it up for them.
Then someone picking AH Regular instead of AH Full for their character.
It gets really long.
At the web2zone tourney we started at like 4pm and we were thrown out at around midnight and we still had like 3 matches left to do.
Note that there only 23 people in that tourney, so take into account that there are over 50 people entering and that theres a possibility that more may sign up before NEC, and you realize that Arcana will need a LOT of TVs/systems/time
Yeah. We only had one TV at w2z, so it ran really long and we ran 3/5 so whatever. I still say we should go 3/5 single elim and let everyone man the fuck up.
If we have three setups we’ll do fine.
Somebody should make have a chart at the tournament with the meaning of the different kanji on the button config.
I’m totally serious. With over 50 entrants that would eliminate at least of a hour of time wasted stumbling through the config menu. Hell, I could make the chart myself if I can actually make it to NEC.
Yeah. I mean, it just sucks because everyone uses their own sticks so you have to unplug, then navigate the menus again, etc.
But it could really eliminate some time! Good idea. =)

Im down with that too… but you know what ??? Its gonna be the same top 5 or almost the same as regular single because when its random those that do the basic stuff best (anti-air, footsie, poke, grab) will come up on top…but it could be fun to watch great player playing with mediocre caracther to see what they are gonna come up with.
