Even last year there were enough people for 3 on 3 teams. This year it’s pretty much a no brainer for 3 on 3 teams. We’ll likely have nearly 30 teams already if we do 3 on 3. 2 on 2 with as many people pre regged as there are right now will just make things nuts.
As far as the whole **Melty Blood **thing…I mean it’s clearly fighting with VF5 for lowest attendance game (that isn’t 10 years old and no one plays it anymore). Actually VF5 will probably garner more entrants just because of the recent Xbox release. I dunno…it’s like Melty Blood just can’t take off in the US for some reason. I figured AH might come off a little slow since it’s another random doujin/loli game that SRK loves to bash on but people seem to wanna throw down in it. I guess cuz it’s a bit flashier and more unique than some of the other games like it. I dunno…nothing about Melty Blood really ever grabbed me. My bro loves dat shit but he likes everything. I like the fast pacedness of it but outside of that nothing makes me really want to play it. I almost want to enter it just to add another person to the list. We’ll see what happens if I actually play the game for a day or 2.

Actually…to be honest there’s a reason Exo does random teams. You actually have a higher chance of coming out with NO money if teams are picked. Especially if beasts from outside the east coast are coming (Cali, Canada etc.). All it takes is 3 really nice people to form a team and you have broke ass teams that are guaranteed “go to losers bracket” teams. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but as far as chances of receiving money…random teams make making money statistically higher for the majority of players. The only players that get a higher chance of winning money when teams are picked are the beast players that go form teams with other beast players. Almost any team where at least 2 people don’t rape in 3S tourneys kisses their money goodbye.
Either way is fine with me but unless you get top 3 or win every 3S tourney you enter…random teams will give you a higher chance of making money. Even with people that are beast in 3S, random teams doesn’t make their chances of winning money that much lower. There is a chance that a few teams may be a bit unbalanced but…it’s better than crazy teams like J.Wong, JS Master, KO Fiend. Obviously that’s a random ass example and there’s no certainty that they would decide to team up but there’s enough really nice people coming out this year that there would definitely be at least 3 or 4 really broke teams that would take up the money for free. Everyone else forms teams with their friends and GGPO money.
Not to mention Exo (if he is running teams again this year) forms teams based on seeds. Which means the teams aren’t entirely random. 2 random ass people are picked but players that regularly beast or do well in tourneys are seeded and they become the anchors for each team. So pretty much every team will be 1 random guy, 1 decent or another random guy, 1 beast.

Actually now that I think about it…I think teams last year was only 5 bucks to enter. Which I think is because Exo took over running the brackets and we always charge 5 bucks to get more people to enter at C3. I know Eric puts 10 bucks up because that would be the regular price to enter but I’m thinking it may only be 5 bucks by the time the tourney rolls round. I’m not one to make decisions on things so we’ll see.
