I always tried to escape until I got older and more experienced, haha. And the going back in time aspects to change stuff in the present was pretty cool too. Reminds me of Link to the Past and Ages, but I think those two just built more around that idea. Also the LOZ/FF mixture gameplay was always great in my opinion. I remember walking along fighting bad guys and then BOOM, random battle. What?! But I thought? Game had me hooked.
I played MOS after LOZ and before FF, so my video game knowledge may have been behind others when I first played it. But I could perfectly understand it was a great game. So many people know LOZ and FF but have never heard of MOS. Such a great game many overlooked. But then again it was during a time that unless someone else who played it could introduce you to it you probably wouldn’t have known. My cousin got me into the game.
I wanted a rom of the game so I could play it without having to use passwords, but being unable to find a decent working one I just crank up the NES and use the level passwords when I want to relive the nostalgia.
So if there is enough interest for it who could try to work out with EZ a deal for the impromptu tuesday meeting when KOF13 comes out (Nov 22nd). We could even do like a day one ranbat for the game too. The reason why I wanna see it happen is it won’t be at any tournaments this month, two everyone says KOF used to be NC’s shit, and three because the game looks really solid, no come back mechanic scrub bullshit and all the rebalancing could be for the better. I can bring a carpool up for it from RDU as well but like I said it all depends on interest.
I don’t mind this either as they are both the same distance. I always hear that’s a great place too. Just I don’t think I can do much as far as supporting with equipment if it’s monday night so i’ll leave it up to others who have access to the game with early copies I guess. Unless Lost Ark can get some?
Well it’s a ranbat not a tournament, like what they are doing at EZ for two dollars every friday. Why do you think day 1 gatherings aren’t ideal? Just cause people are still trying to learn the game?
I like the idea. I’m gonna be all over KOFXIII, so if people are game to play it then at least I’ll have a buddy or two to play it with. Also, how’s your Steve in Tekken doing these days?
If anyone in Raleigh is looking to do gatherings let me know and I can see about opening my place to people. Tired of just being a pot whore in tournaments so its about time I get my self at least out of scrub status. Tekken and 3S are the top ones I’m interested in, but in case you didn’t know I’m open to play just about anything. Especially with FR approaching soon if its on the tournament list then I’m definitely down to get matches in on it. Gears is such an easy distraction.
@Zombie Brent and Rob: I’ve been questioning using Time - Heart, but only because she lacks some options in my opinion. I’m a AH3 scrub, but when it comes to Chain Girl and some others I just seem useless against them. Gonna check out some combo videos and wiki some other stuff, but hopefully I can get “The Touch Of Death” down. I know Time-Heart can do big damaging combos, its just sometimes I get stuck in the corner and I’m screwed. sad face
EDIT: Just remembered there’s a pretty good game room (minus the games :/) at my place. Why the hell I never thought of that before I don’t know, but it has plenty of space and three TVs to use. Its near State and we can get a pretty good size group in there. If people are interested I can see about coming up with day(s) and time(s). Let me know ASAP and I can get this thing up and going quick. Lets go Raleigh!
They might have it, do they sell new games? A pre-midnight tourney followed by a midnight sale might do wonders, though I’d have to leave a bit early for work.
Time Heart is really good, time in itself works with basically every character. Chain Girl does pretty well against everything but someone like heart should have an easier time with her because you need to be in her face the whole time which time also helps with. Schar has little reversal options that are really that impressive so just block and play more defensive till you can move in. Heart is one of the higher up characters of the spectrum. Now for a starting Arcana? Time might be a bit much but if you play it seriously you can learn it just fine.
I didn’t think they sold new games that was the thing but if it was possible and we got interest that would be good. Personally the way I see it, and not having done something like this with a game before which is why I was wondering what Smurvis meant is that a day 1 KOF thing might be a good way to get scrubs like me into the game and learning it and everyone analyzing the game and the changes, trying to show each other stuff and share info, having good matches and chilling, then 2 dollar ranbat just for the heck of it, it’s two dollars no reason to complain if you lose it lol.
Time Heart isn’t a bad choice. Unlike a lot of characters, Heart can actually combo off Time’s 6HC with some practicality. And because of that, you’ll probably be able to afford burning your EF meter a lot more often on block strings as well (which Time Arcana gives you a larger speed increase than other Arcanas).
Also, Heart is one of the best characters to use against Scharlachrot (chain girl). I think a lot of your trouble with Scharl is just the matchup in general. She’s extremely difficult to fight against until you realize her limitations. Scharl doesn’t really have any mixups, so you have ample time to think and figure out your next move while blocking her. It’s not like she can force a sitaution on you like other characters. You just gotta have patience with her and know when to attack. The matchup will become much easier.
If Lingmass is hosting again this Saturday, I might bring my PS3, and I can show you more things if you want.
EDIT : and yeah, like Aaron said… Time backdash is really good against Scharl.

You can literally down back her the entire time because the only thing she has to open you up is aeriel kicks that are slow and really predictable this is why she gets time outs alot in matches involving her because of yea she forces you to play defensive and it’s hard to do anything but at the same time chip damage in Arcana Heart 3 is the biggest lulz ever especially with Scharl she isn’t going to chip you out for the win so no problems.
Can’t remember who I was talking to about this one time, but here’s a pretty epic DMC4 combo video. I think it was after ReSe when someone mentioned a DMC 3 combo video.
Awesome video. I know a lot of ‘purists’ think DMC3 was the best game of the series, but I think 4 trumps it in terms of gameplay, easily. Just watch that vid and look at any of the Dante clips in it. Even if you’ve played through the game and gotten every single technique and powerup, this video still makes it look like a completely different game. The Nero stuff is mostly exploitation of Enemy Step and certain move cancels, but Dante’s combos are chock full of style changes, it looks insane.
I see your World of Fantasy and raise you PRIME TIME…can’t find album version of the song so I’ll just give you the live version. Honestly I didn’t like World of Fantasy as much as Player. Also, do you keep up with Perfume? They’re produced by the guy in Capsule. As such, you can definitely hear the similarities in their music
