North Carolina Thread LXIII

I was exaggerating obviously, but Redd showing up was a good wakeup call for NC’s Tekken scene from what I saw.

I apologize in advance for Mai’s neomax, guys. NGBBBBBBBBBBBC.

The game is really fun. What’s that meterless Mai combo, Rob?

I might show up to Jon’s tomorrow. I’ll bring a setup with Ultimate and Blaz, just in case.

You took my comment completely the wrong way. I understand how online can be crappy, which is part of the reason I don’t play fighters online at all. Even for achievements/trophies. It was a general comment about how I feel when playing online. There are some games which you can’t back out so people disconnect their online and jump back on again to get around it. But the disconnects show up on their online record, so this helps avoid annoying things like that happening too often. Your views can obviously be different, which wouldn’t make either wrong or right.

But if you’re still too sensitive to your own confusion you know where to find me. I’m not gonna argue on the forums with someone, so for the most part just PM me if you still have a misunderstanding or catch you at the next available tournament.

P.S. Talk is cheap, so if you want to money match then you already should know how I go. So if you think you have the “skills,” then step up to the plate. Otherwise, fall back.

@Sofa_King

I’ve been meaning to ask this for awhile but I honestly just didn’t care enough to know the answer, but I bet this same exact question is on a lot of players minds so I might as well put it out in the open. Do you honestly think you’re good or are you just trolling? Are you doing these money matches to prove something and gain respect or do you actually think you’re going to win? You’re a nice guy in person but the way you post online would make it seem like you’re actually good at fighting games and to be perfectly honest, you’re not. I just want to know the truth in your own words.

please do and please bring BB. I need some more matchup exp.

Online is great idk what you’re talking about. I know a bunch of ridiculously good players who would rather stay at home and play all day than to show up to tournaments (Yes in NC). And it’s not that they’re scared or anything, they just don’t care about tournaments.

To note, the #2 Gouken on XBL lives in the Triad area if it means anything and I can’t beat him consistently at all. >_>

gouken is fray to downback

NC isn’t free in AE atleast, don’t think ATL has ever beat us in that. They’re pretty godlike in Tekken and SLIGHTLY better in MVC3.

People witnessed the “Firebrand Asshole Unblockable tm” setup today. Looking forward to doing it some more tomorrow.

KoF13 is good shit. Thanks for showing me how it’s done Darrell.

Does this involve doing a THC with Firebrand and Dante, and then doing his unblockable special move during million dollars? Or maybe some other “stay in blockstun from this super/assist” into his unblockable? Or is this a high+low assist thing?

Nah it’s just do slide which puts you in their face, call doctor strange, which comes out before they get out of block stun, cancel into his swoop and then charge it, which becomes a legit unblockable once charged. On hit leads to about 6-700k pre DHC. Also works on entry.

Why do combos in KoF XIII feel like I’m dialing them in? Maybe I’m just not used to it, but you most definitely do not enter them as they come. It’s like slightly before, and the input can’t be confirmed into. You just have to go for it. Meh, I don’t like it but I will try to learn it. Also all of the notations on supers are weird as fuck to me. I’ve never like QCB to HCF motions they feel retarded. But lately I’ve just been sucking at everything, so I might be just be sucking ^v^

Ohh good I was about to tell you about that setup I figured it out Satuday morning, it is so bullshit.

That’s one of the reasons in a lot of high-level play (especially in America) you see players sticking with short, safe combos, and part of the reasons why command normals are so important to characters.

As most characters’ command normals are safe on block (there are a few exceptions, such as CD Guard Cancel or Counter Roll with some moves) you pretty much need to break the combo up into confirmable parts.
An example with my main Takuma, you don’t really have time to “confirm” if a close C hits, so I will do: Close C, f+B (f+A in older KOFs) and then check after the f+B to see if it hit before moving on, but there are other examples.
Such as many characters who can do cr. B, cr. B, (cr.A) xx DM or cr. B, cr. A, (cr. A) xx DM–in parenthesis are the windows where you should be confirming.
It’s NOT “dial-a-combo” style like in MK or Killer Instinct.

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I was a bit confused on the input system.

I think DM has been replaced with EX move>juggle on alot of characters.

@Shiki: If I’m able to make it out to the next ReSe I want to play you in Ultimate and KOF. Nothing personal, just feel that I could learn a lot from you if I sat down and played against you.

@Will: I’ve talked to a lot of the NC players, those I’ve played with in person or met at tournament, so I’m sure there are plenty of people who know where I somewhat stand. Plus I think I’ve mentioned something before, on more than one occasion, so instead of repeating myself I would say check back through the posts. All of them. From my first post.

@Jon: I think I broke the vampire curse, at least for today, so I should be out there before sun down. After three of course, but I’ll still probably just give you a call before I head over.

Either that or their unable to make it out to tournaments due to personal things in their life. There are a couple of players I’ve played with in session in NC who aren’t able to make it out to tournaments, but they could do execellent if they went out to a tournament.

But if someone is just playing online for fun and not entering tournaments I can respect that. To each his own. I play Halo and Gears pretty competitively online, but don’t go out to any tournaments for them.

Dude, instead of typing this pointless response, you could have explained your stance in the same amount of words. Do you honestly expect anyone to look through every post you’ve ever made? Is this deliberate trolling, I really can’t get a read on your personality. I asked you out of curiosity because I was genuinely interested, you had the opportunity to set the record straight but instead you choose to beat around the bush. So I’ve lost interest again, I’m just going to assume you’re one very delusional individual.

EDIT:

To keep it simple, do you think you’re actually good or are you just trolling? All I need is a short and simple response.
