Also, I had an idea I wanted to throw out there. I was considering setting up a kind of AE “study group” using jimmy’s superior (non-tarboro) internets. Basically just have a weekly time when NC people could get in a lobby and play each other + discussing match-ups / gameplay. If people are interested I could do this kinda thing sat, sun, or mon. Depends on interest though so let me know if anyone would want to do this.
I’m down, would prefer Sundays or Mondays and I’m bringing Yun.

So the Champps tourney turned out pretty good. It was well ran and things went by pretty quickly. The guys that ran it are pretty cool and just really trying start some things up with their scene so just give them a break and give some advice rather than immediately attacking everything they say.

Me and Jon met in the semi finals. I sent him to losers and he came back and beat me in Winner’s finals. Score was reset and he beat me again.
being new and trying to break into the scene doesn’t excuse him not answering my questions. I went from somewhat interested to totally not interested really quickly. I didn’t attack him or anything like that. but being blatantly ignored said to me that he didnt care if i attended or not, if i wanted answers i would just have to come up there. which is inexcusable and disrespectful. it also seems like the people who went were all from Raleigh, or within short distance of the venue. and what’s sad is that results have been posted by others and not the organizer, yet I STILL don’t know what the rules were. Ando told me that he and Mike would be there and he also sent me a text saying Jon and Blake were there. But this was at 8pm, way past the time i could have gotten dressed and made it up there.
so 6 ppl entered Tekken. at $3 per person that means the total pot was $18. how was it split? what were the rules? im starting to feel like a broken record asking these same questions.
Yeah definetly, DamagePoints ran it quite well (did i spell Quite right?). Hes a pretty chill dude just tryin to start somethin, seein as we barely have somethin down in the triangle area. We all cant make it to EZ sessions and tournaments, even if they are GDLK (which they are ) Oh yeah Jon had to play 2 blankas in top 3 lol, but i was the blanka that got bodied. Got 5th in marvel. Damage points actually put me in losers with team Tokido. And what else… we had to be out by one so one game had to be single elim, cant really complain about that but all in all i seen some skillful players Good shit tonight with Jon and OJ and Damage points and others that were there. Shout outs to run on sentences.

I didn’t get to respond to your original post because I never saw it until I went back and reread the last few pages. I went from work straight to the tourney to set up so didn’t have much time to check srk. sorry about that and sorry for your frustration. had a Ton of fun. the tekken tourney was small and top 3 were chris, mikeM, and Kareem. Ssf4 was Oj, Jon , and Isaiah. mvc3 was Jon, oj, myself, duo in the top. def learned some things I’ll do differently next time. great meeting Jon and Oj you guys are cool ass dudes. next tourney we are most likely doing mortal kombat instead of tekken sf:ae and mvc3. can’t wait to meet more of you at the tourney July 9th at EZ. I’m bringing myself and Duo down there. def looking forward to that. time to pass out.

Yo Damage, if anything Orochi can help to bring the Tekken scene up. He’s been trying to do that for a while now and is willing to help (Even run solely) tournaments involving it. He’s really interested in how this one was ran as he’d probably show up just for Tekken. If you ever run Tekken again I’m sure he could bring some numbers given notice.

has anyone else noticed that the Fayetteville EZ tournament and the Charlotte Rock’em Sock’em tournament are on the same day? this could be an issue. I addressed it over on TZ and im going to voice the same thing here, but having two tournaments on the same day in the same state for the same games pretty much divides the community. im having a hard time deciding which to attend. ive never been to a Rock’em Sock’em but I know the Charlotte Tekken players will be there. but on the other hand EZ has truly impressed me with its layout and I know the meat of NC competition will be there for the other game I want to compete in.
also. EVO. whats the deal? I only got one bite for ECT, which wasnt enough to justify the costs of the trip. but I really REALLY REALLY want to go to EVO because I want to 1. compete 2. gamble and 3. play TTT2 AND SFxT.
I just wanted to hop on here and say great games from everyone last night and congratulations to Jon for taking the tournament and OJ for sending me to losers. I wish I could play you guys more but we were pushed up for time. Me & Scott will def be attending more stuff in the fayettevile area from now on. Epic matches in GFs guys and luckily they got recorded and will be uploaded to youtube for all you friends here to see. I was feeling mad salty after I lost to two phoenix teams this tournament with much hate for her, but after seeing how Jon handled the match up it really showed me that that there are options. Can’t wait till the next one. Also, after playing around with it at the tournament, I’m very interested it picking up tekken 6 seriously.
Wait a second there’s a Charlotte tournament on July 9th? Why hasn’t there been a single post on SRK about it? This happened with the last EZ tournament when Miguel decided to host Lucky’s on the same date as EZ even though we had it set a month in advance. Hell, we said we’re hosting EZ on July 9th a few days after our last tournament in May. Can niggas stop advertising shit on FB and put it on SRK where it belongs, there isn’t even a thread for the Charlotte tournament. Most of the SC scene that attends the Charlotte tournaments already contacted me saying their coming to EZ. Sigh, somebody tell Brian that he needs to post on SRK more so we can settle this confusion.

Awesome games at Champps last night, that tournament was actually pretty fun and well run, I liked the setup they had. Lots of cool people, it was nice meeting DamagePoints and the other Raleigh players. OJ played really solid and turtled his ass off in SSF4 so good shit on that. I somehow lost to his MORRIGAN in winners finals but somehow came back and reset it in grand finals and took the tournament. Matches were super hype though, people seemed to really be getting into it. Definitely one of the better grand finals I’ve ever played.
So yeah in the future, some of you guys should definitely try to make it out and support a new venue on the scene, it’s good to see people putting effort forth so I think we should support them. It definitely wasn’t all scrubby / lagtastic like Edward Mckay.
My only complaint is the lack of sound on the bigger TVs. Is there any way to turn the volume up on those? I couldn’t hear assist calls or stuff off screen in Marvel lol

That’s the thing, we actually weren’t thinking that at all. Generally people in the community are pretty nice / respectful to new players, that’s what I’m saying about having to prove something. Sometimes people play a set and wanna run it back, and usually people are cool with it. No reason to have to stand up and try to get respect, people will give it to you if you’re chill. Maybe you’re a nice guy, I dunno. I’ll send you an invite if you really wanna “run it back” with gatherings.
I’m 100% down for this. Any of those days work for me, I can plan around them regardless.
