So pretty much every new player that has tried to join the NC fighting game scene recently has fallen into one of four categories:

They come to a session/tournament then lose and proceed to never show up again.

They want to come out to a session/tournament and complain that they either don’t know where they are being hosted or that they can’t make it out despite us repeatedly informing them of where they’re hosted and how to get rides.

They try to host a session/tournament but then run it poorly and wonders why nobody wants to come.

They come in saying blatantly dumb shit and respond with hostility when they get called out on it despite them being in the wrong.
I still say we solve all of this with money matches.
You guys* should lighten up. I can’t condone making jokes at someone elses expense. It’s just not what I’m about*.

Best advice I can give is to just show up to an EZ session/tournament.
David already checked it, me and him saw the picture but he’s at work right now and doesn’t get off until like 6 (we gotta work those 12 hour shifts son).

Man… this thread. Why is everyone so hard over video games? I’m just glad we got tournaments around here. People are ingrates about shit sometime, if it doesn’t live up to your standards, don’t go, plain and simple. On the other hand, don’t talk down to your potential attendees, that seems kinda backwards, even if they do get under your skin.
Going back to Sofa King: Honestly man, try to be more pleasant to be around, complain less, people are opening their own homes to the people they want to play with. If they don’t want to play with the angry new guy, I think that’s completely understandable. I’d rather have chill people I can enjoy being around at my place moreso than captain serious gotta prove something. Complaining about it and acting entitled to whatever isn’t going to help that cause.

It helps fend off the riff raff. When I have gatherings at *château lucerne,*we play on lagless projection screens, every character has to use their gold
coloured palette, and you’re only allowed to play characters that are paid DLC or are wearing DLC ostumes. Helps keep the stench of poverty out. **

Haha, how many Damagepoints has DamagePoints received. Well my comment is this, if you are a direct person then the most direct thing to do is come out to these gatherings and find out how the community is rather than word of mouth. I’ve traveled to a lot of areas to meet the community, may not have gone to every known gathering, but enough to generally know the community and that helps a lot when trying to get a good turnout. There will probably be someone you’ll find irritating no matter what, but everyone that comes to these gatherings are good ppl. Just come to EZ like William has stated. I’m not sure how the manager at Champs is, but you wouldnt have to unhook any of their TVs, just ask for a spot in the facility to say hook up 2 or 3 CRTs. If they are willing to let you use some of their TVs then just use those for casuals/entertainment and use the CRTs for tournament only. Even with 2 TVs for a 30 man tournament can run surprisingly fast as long as you organize the entrants to be ready for their match.
Kevin, when I made that post, I envisioned you replying in my mind even though I know you don’t post THAT often hahaha.
Also, EZ. July 9th. Sounds fun. I might also go to the friday session prior on the 8th. If not I may go to the Friday one on the 15th or something. I wanna at least make a couple of these a month.
i will def come out to one of those tourneys. July 9th sounds like a good one that I should be able to make. I can find out about the tvs tonight when i ask the champs manager. it would be nearly impossible tho
to have the whole tourney on them of we had 2. most of the previous champs tourneys done by gamestop had over 60 people enter and we barely finished on time with 3 setups. tonight we are running 4 setups and I’ll see how that goes and I’ll definitely ask about the tvs.
If they green light bringing in monitors for future events, i’ll bring a CRT. I’m sure others would glady bring lagless monitors/CRTs for a tournament with a good turnout. Let me know.

Hi NC! I’m back for a good little while now. Shit didn’t work out too well in FL ( I EVEN MISSED CEO FAAARRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKK). Stuck in this hole with my parents again, so I can’t play anyone online.
