seems like they toned down the damage compared to before. But this is just demonstration play.
so session tonight cancelled…cool. I wouldnt be able to make it anyways.
Brent: yeah, im back on crack. this time on PS3 though.
KoF XIII looks good. Might be my 2D savior honestly.
I know who’s coming from GA this weekend guys, its gonna be rough. In ALL games. All I gotta say is that they are most definitely bringing the heat. With FACE and Tom out of town, whos gonna hold us in 3S?
Speaking of this weekend. My carpool is SET. My passengers are Dale, Jon, Josiah, and Mike (Sofa). I would like to leave by no later than 930 am (which means you have until 1030am to be ready) because Small Wonder hit me up earlier today to tell me that NASCAR is going to be in town so traffic is going to be a pain to get through. I will be picking Dale up in Knightdale FIRST. If its not too much to ask could the rest of you guys be at Jon’s as a meet point? I will send out texts at each stop to let you know how much time you have.
That vid was mostly to demonstrate specific changes, so it’s hard to say if damage was overall toned down yet. Example, they made Shen’s Danken throw slower, but you can now Drive cancel it in order to continue the combo, so his damage off of that move may increase. They also made his Gekiken feint recover faster, and he was already a beast, so I’m expecting him to still be pretty dominant.
I didn’t hear anything like damage nerfs across the board but some character has specific damage nerfs I’m pretty sure I remember hearing that Leona was one of them. I know Elizibeth’s anti air combo got hit hard like down to 350-360 damage from its completely bonkers 550+.
[S]edit: Your right Neo Max doesn’t seem to do as much damage, or maybe it scales more now?[/S]
edit 2: Who knows till people actually get there hands on it.
I’ve watched this Phoenix Wright video probably 30 times trying to figure out what this guy does. I think I have it figured out.
He seems to have 3 stances, one with the magnifying glass (a reference to the investigations in the games), one with his lawyer badge (evidence/trial?), and then one with the finger point where he seems to get powered-up.
When he’s investigating, he can summon Maya as a self-assist with a barrier that looks pretty good (can’t tell if it’s durability or time based, but it’s eaten both projectiles and normals) and also use her as an OTG. He also has a Maya super that looks like it can easily be followed up, since he uses it and blatantly hardtags Viewtiful Joe safely, and also uses it and gathers two pieces of evidence. Evidence that is useful seems to light up the folder, but the stuff that isn’t seems to keep it grayed out. He can discard the items as a projectile until he gets what he wants.
In the lawyer mode he gets to do some stuff with document projectiles that seem to have different angles, gets to do the judge super (which seems to send him back to investigating?) and also can use the evidence from the investigation as projectiles. It doesn’t discard it, he simply holds it out and can keep using it. I’ve seen him do the knife (3-way spread laser), a picture of some sort (really fast straight laser), and a broken vase (goes up at a 45 degree angle, pings off ceiling and comes down at 45 degree angle).
At some point for some reason he can use Objection which sends him to the third stance. It LOOKS like he needs 3 pieces of evidence and needs to be in lawyer mode to set this up. However, there is a meter that drains underneath the evidence that is segmented into thirds and I can’t figure out why it’s segmented. The three pieces of evidence seem to add hits to the counter as he’s presenting in the level 3 super, so I wonder if you can do the Objection with one piece but have less time to do the super and get less damage, or if you really do need all 3. The segmenting may also just be so it’s easier to keep up with. Oh well. He also seems to do more damage and his normals/specials/whatever the fuck this guy is doing/etc. also seems to get more ranger or just better in general.
Also, side stuff, I’ve seen him do the Maya super in lawyer mode, but I’ve haven’t seen him do the judge super in investigation mode yet. But I’ve only seen the Maya assists in investigating, but never in lawyer. Using Maya barrier + assist seems to give him time to get some evidence stacked up. And crazy angles on his specials might be nice with the new airdash change. Zoning may be pretty strong in UMvC3. I think that’s why they left Maya in the investigation, cause if you could call Maya, present evidence, AND call an assist, he’d fill the fucking screen up.
I really hope the Maya barrier is good because day one opinion from these videos make it seem like he really needs it to get his game started. Wolverine in vanilla was awesome cause he was good to go whenever, Wright seems like his biggest weakness is going to be getting the ball rolling. I do like that they tried to stay relatively true to the source material. He’s a defense lawyer, he stays on defense the whole time, and I hope the Objection mode lets him do some more in-your-face stuff cause that would keep to the pacing of his character. A little bitch who holds back until he has you cornered, then fucks shit up.
Good shit, you hateful bastard.

Dammit, I wrote a lot for Seth to say it anyway. However…

I’m glad I was fucking spot-on. 10-15 pieces of relevant evidence though? That’s a lot. Gonna be hard to learn any combos involving evidence. At least he’s got an awesome finger point normal in Turnabout.

Also, 600k damage for a level 3 super? lololol
YO, what’s up my fellow NC fighters? Tomorrow is my flight back to NY, I just wanted to say it was a pleasure to meet everyone and play against you all. I definitely leveled up a lot during my time in NC. Hopefully there will be some NC tourneys around the holidays, because I’m most likely going to visit my mom out here in NC during the holidays. Anyway, stay salty NC, look for me on the guard crush streams.
Yeah, true…Damdai fucked it up bad.
A shame, because I really liked his record-keeping system.
KOF XIII console looks better every single damn update. Really, this game is going to be KOF XIII.V because so much is getting changed for the better. I don’t even want to play the arcade version of it anymore. That Daraku Tenshi stage is GORGEOUS.
Phoenix Wright Level 3 requires you to be in Turnabout mode (which is on a timer), so I think 600k is fair, but my opinion is biased since I’m going to be using him. Oh, and it hits full screen too.
Get fucking owned you Wolverine/Akuma mashers.
It’s finally time to apply everything I learned from Jaguar to good use…
EZ Block and Mash will be starting tomorrow between 3-5, and will run until everyone leaves. I’m gonna try and get as much BB as possible, but since me/Sal are the only real players in Fay, we’ll probably end up with some other stuff. If you’ve got a chance to come out, Tager could use more victims.
PAT! GGs man we been playing since vanilla. Have fun in NY and visit when you can!
we don’t really know each other that much, but i saw you at sneaks last gathering(i was the asian guy). wished you could of made it to RESE before you left man. good luck in NY through, you and Jordyn better be beasting it up the next time i tune into guardcrush lol.
I hope you blow it up there in NY.
Hey how much people generally show up at EZ Fridays these days? On Average of course. I’m thinking about showing up with some friends in coming weeks to get back in the groove training and not being a lazy ass.
Whenever I go, it seems to be around 10-12 people. Sometimes we get giant crowds (think 18-20), sometimes barely anyone shows up / stays late. Best way to increase the numbers is to show up.
True, but I believe you can go straight into the level 3 from the Objection mode. Watch the reveal. He combos the Objection into air ABCS. And when Turnabout ends on timeout, do you lose the evidence or is it only if the super hits? I can see using turnabout to build meter, but if you activate with 3 or near 3 bars i dont think the timer matters. Could be wrong. Or wright.
Also, later skate!
Hey Pat good meeting you man. Good luck in NY, I’ll try to tune in and see your progress. Look forward to when you come back down in the future!
I had a theory about the Judge super, it seems to hit phoenix too and he says “OBJECTION OVER-RULED” so I’m thinking maybe if he has enough evidence or is in the right mode, it won’t hit phoenix and instead let him continue comboing? I totally called that super though.
Was hoping for a psych lock move like Veil of Mist that shut out assists and tags but ahh well, can only hope for so much. He seems cool though. The finger point in objection mode looks godlike. Also those active forever paper moves he does.
Anyway though, not enough abare for a game like Marvel… plus the evidence looks too random to setup any sort of reliable game plan. Unless turnabout mode is dark phoenix-esque… I don’t see him being that competitive honestly.
Nova on the otherhand actually looks good. Guess you broke the curse of Demo… Demo.
In Marvel 3 Vanilla I would agree, but with Ultimate’s emphasis on zoning and getting big damage for doing so, I think Phoenix has a legit shot at being competitive. His normals are big and looks fairly quick, and he looks to have a very interesting toolset for zoning with Maya assist.
