I see that a whole bunch of gullible fools bought this game on the premise of massive procedural generation as if its some brand new way of populating a game. Procedural generation can enhance a game, yes (diablo, minecraft), but it CANNOT be the entire basis of a game because we just don’t have the ability yet to make it compelling on it’s own without some form of context. To make things worse there’s zero emergent gameplay in NMS, your train of thought is exactly the same 10 hours in as it is 10 minutes in. I’ve said it many times before and i’ll say it again, procedural generation without a compelling activity to contextualise it, plus a complete lack of handcrafted stuff, equals a bad game, every time.

Lack of multiplayer is the reason I won’t touch this game, but if others enjoy it as is, I’m not gonna shit on 'em for it.
That said, I wish there were more to this game. Seems like so much wasted potential.
