@ njmaddenballer: It would be a good idea to post up some general rules in the first post just to prevent assholes like this one from mincing words like this so that you will have grounds to ban them from even stepping foot into your tournaments. If you want, I’ll PM you the rules that I use so that you can have a guide.

We pull, on average, 200 players a tournament across all games. If you wanna talk numbers, thats some stuff right there. Not to mention we ran an amateur tournament at a mall in Rhode Island with over 1500 people. 95% of players who attend our tournaments have fun and enjoy themselves, and never have a problem with anything we do (smashers included). That 5% who don’t like it, well they say the same at other tournaments too, you can’t please everyone.
You got perm banned for several reasons. First, I heard you tried to incite a riot at CoT4 (I heard from Chibo, the TO that you were among those doing it, so don’t try to convince me otheriwse). Second you insulted a mod. And third, you never really had a good track record on SWF. You aren’t loved there except by a handful of people. Don’t kid yourself man, I could go there an make a love/hate poll about you and you won’t like the results, trust me. You should stop thinking so highly of yourself.

BTW I do it by hand b/c I choose to. He doesn’t force me to do anything. I let him handle certain affairs, and he lets me handle certain affairs. That’s how we work. Bracket by hand has many advantages over using a computer. You are learning bracket theory, which IMO every TO should know. I also don’t have to deal with 50 people crowding around me to see who they play next on a tiny computer screen. It’s either on a big sheet of paper for all to see or on a smaller sheet of paper which can be passed around.

Lots of players do look up to me. But there comes a point in ones life where they have to move on. I love the smash community, but since Brawls release I just couldn’t get into it anymore. I had moved on to other games (namely Gears of War) and now thats what I do. I try to stay active in the community, but I’m also involved in several other competitive communities as well, and I’m respected throughout the competitive gaming world, mostly b/c I’m smart, nice to people and don’t start shit just for the fun of it.
Our turnouts for smash were almost always in the mid 40’s. After Brawl we had at LEAST 60-70 players an event. Know why there weren’t many people in Teaneck? MLG was going on just down the street. You said it yourself, you went to MLG then came to us. We aimed our event for the casual, bc it was for charity (says right on the original thread too, I can quote it if you like).
Actually, most of the money brought in went to the charity. We took what we needed to pay for expenses, but that was about it. It said on the thread what we were giving out. Hell, you ASKED us about it and I explained it to you. Why would you expect more?? Really, tell me where these ideas came from. I tried to pump up the event to pay out $500 in cash, but no one was willing to pay more, so we stuck with the original plan.
If I wanted to sell my new $70 coat I would probably only get $20 for it, MAYBE. Its’ called depreciation, where the value of something decreases once it has been owned. You wanna get more money for something than you paid, buy a house or a Ferrari.
Like I said, we are a BUSINESS. We have to make decisions based on many factors, attendance being one of them. Like I said, if you run a tournament at your house you have no obligations. When you start to scale it up, you start to have to pay for things. Where do you think that money comes from? The sky??? No, usuaully a players pocket or from tournament revenues. I know the kishes took from the pot to pay for expenses at FC. You can’t expect anyone to do anything for free, especially with the economy the way it is. You wanna earn more money at a tournament, you have to expect to pay more to enter. It’s simply mathmatics.
I had to overturn match outcomes several times for various reason. It’s called fairness. If you get to play against a dude with RL and Sword starts, while everyone else plays the standard rules thats not fair. At that point, it fails to be a tournament worthy match and thus must be replayed. We have years of tournament experience, and we know how to handle these types of situations. I know you have run a few yourself, so don’t act like you never had to make a difficult decision that one party would find unfair. It’s the nature of the beast dude.

The Zanzibar was one flag. We took turns and won 3-0/ How is that unfair? Then, I couldn’t tell you. Now, it’s unfair, but only AFTER the game progressed as so. 6 months down the line.
I do know bracket theory! I was quizzed pretty hard on it by Nealdt. I got host certification on allisbrawl and smashboards. I run some seriously awesome brackets. I helped the Cata4 brackets, and they were pretty awesome.

Im interested in going to whatever SF4 events are going on in NY or Jersey but damn between you guys going at each other I cant tell if this will be any good…and SF4 starts at 930am???..sign ups or the actually tourney?
As of now, we are building the SF4 fanbase for KOTC. The game is brand new (well in the states at least) and it’s a new addition to our lineup. We have been running tournaments for years. We always do our best to make sure every event is the best it can be. We have had a few bad apples, but majority of the players who attend our events thoroughly enjoy them.
I believe signups start around 8:30. The tournament does start at 9:30 ish so be there early.
Suicide fox is right on the mark. We are working real hard and we really want to get more involved with the Street Fighter community and that’s one of the reasons we came here for a bit of advice on this particular game. We look forward to a great event.
