I like nintendo properties too but, the 3rd party gaming world has so much to offer as well. Some of my all-time favorite franchises are from 3rd party developers. This makes choosing a nintendo console a hard sell for me, as well as many other gamers out there.
It’s kind of odd talking about third-party problems in the 3DS thread when the 3DS definitely doesn’t have that issue.
Yeah, it definitely nails the look and feel of a game from the NES era, but…is that it? If that’s the only hook, I kind of expected more. How does it iterate on those games?
EDIT:
I don’t consider it a problem. My reasoning is pretty simple which I’ve said time and time again. I don’t see what’s so hard to understand.
People buy Nintendo because they love the Nintendo characters and games. Why would they buy Nintendo for stuff that everyone has like 2k sports games, assassins creed, call of duty and whatever shovel ware sandbox game someone makes? They want Nintendo for Mario, Yoshi, Zelda, Donkey Kong…Etc…
I buy Sony for the same reason. I love how many exclusives they get compared to Nintendo and Microsoft. It may not be an in-house exclusive all the time like Uncharted or Ratchet and Clank but it’s still an exclusive which is what matters to me in systems. I want to buy a system for its unique features and it’s unique gaming library.
I don’t want to buy a system just to have everything everyone else has on every system. That just seems silly to me.
So has Nintendo. Plus I’ve never been a fan of the Metroid from a gameplay stand point… I love the shit out of Samus, I love the universe and the story. I’ve just never liked the gameplay.
Because it’s a vicious cycle and self-fulfilling prophecy that’s lead to Nintendo and Nintendo fans becoming increasingly insular since the N64.
You can game primarily on PC, PlayStation, or XBox because you want their exclusive content, too, but the difference there is that you’re not doing so at the exclusion of most of the general content.
I’ve never been a PC gamer and I never will be. So it doesn’t bother how much it “catches up” because it will likely never have Nintendo titles except for people using emulation.
The most PC gaming I have ever done is
*Played Maple Story with 4 friends for 2 months
*Played on a friend Ragnarok Online server for 4 months in which I was one of the moderators for (which is the only reason I played)
*Played WoW with a friend for 1 month.
unless you count really, really old PC gaming like the Commander Keen series and Cosmos Cosmic Quest series.
Ive never downloaded steam and even when I get a new MacBook I doubt I will because I honestly don’t care.
I’m sorry but 90% of games in 1995 were not good. You’re really forgetting just how much straight garbage used to come out.
Winners don’t do drugs man. Sober 24/7.
I’ve never really been too into “PC gaming” as its own type of gaming. Imagine a console with more options. That’s PC gaming to me. I play the same type of games with a controller on a big ass TV they just load instantly, run without slowdown, fit a lot more on screen at a time and look better.
