Nintendo 3DS - Best Handheld Today

That’s a little different. I bought TvC and I didn’t know over half the cast either. Vs games don’t count.

Not saying it won’t, but don’t get your hopes up.

Not so much a rope-a-dope thing as “are these five games worth paying that much for this extra console when I have a console that I already have a huge backlog on?”

When you’re talking about buying a fairly expensive toy, the only “excuse” you really need to not buy it is that you don’t want to spend money on it.

Mind you, I’m saying this as someone who owns a 3DSXL, Vita, PS4, PS3, and who may wind up buying the N3DS/XL after trying it out at a store or something, if the headtracking 3D effect is as good as everyone says it is.

I’m surprised people even use the 3D on the 3DS. In my experience, activating it is a one-way trip to eye-strain, not to mention the picture quality gets worse and the already-short battery life gets even lower. It’s not like any of the games even need the 3D as a central, or even tangential part of their gameplay

Depends on the game. Some games has very poor 3D implementation or has very little impact. I can live without 3D in PQ for example.

Monster hunter 3-4 generally looked amazing in 3D and for the most part very well implemented aside for like maybe one specific wooden post sticking out too much and first person view on scopes making you crosseyed. 3D done well makes that game look as if you’re looking through a window and it absolutely looks worse in 2D cutscenes aside.

Lastly, the 3D with head tracking on the n3DS practically solves much of the eye strain issues from moving your head a slight bit and the picture shuffles around. I first heard of this when my best bud got his n3DS + mh4u and he was normally someone that would momentarily cover his eyes when I gave him my old 3DS with 3D on. He plays with 3D on just fine now. Still takes a bit to adjust your eyes to it. Things that could disrupt the headtracking would be having another person’s head relatively close to yours and within view of the 3DS camera or if something covers up your face/obstructs the view of the camera likely relies on tracking the eyes

So in conclusion, again depends on the game along with the n3DS substantially making the 3D much more stable.

Super Mario 3D Land is the only game I played where I would say the 3D played a tangential part in gameplay. I remember needing it to get a few star medals.

I didn’t even need to use the 3D for 3D Land. You learned early on that a lot of the stuff was hidden by camera tricks and perspective, so you could get a pretty accurate picture of how to solve a lot of the Star Coin puzzles.

luigis mansion in particular looks fugging amazing with the 3d on. seriously its fucking godlike that game. one of the best games i played last year that one.

Well, I’m cross-eyed so the 3D actually makes everything seem normal to me.

anyone get that codename steam?

Anybody else on that Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate? I know of a few, but I’ve only gotten to play with @2-D so far. Currently HR5 and just killed the Monoblos in the story.

I play mh4u

Don’t play with scrubs who use armor though.

Wow…Sega is playing with people’s heartstrings.

Sega+3DS=GDLK. Seriously for anyone who was a fan of the genesis the 3DS is slowly becoming an arcade perfect entity:
