I don’t know how I feel about NG3…I wasnt the biggest fan of NG2 since on the higher difficulties the frames would just plummet to like 10FPS for me.
It’s odd that they removed decapitations and the enemies are Scared. Cuz shit. in NG2 I don’t remember the soldiers being scared when they had fun juggling me with Rockets.
I hope that’s just easy peasy mode…aside from that I’m still gonna get it.
Just not Day one.

I am hyped enough for this game, I love hacknslash games, and I am definitely gonna buy it, this year kinda sux for hacknslash games, enslaved combat system was totally boring, new dmc my ass, waiting for DMC HD collection and NG3… last good game with better combat was Castlevania:LoS, which is kinda underrated, because its great game and I need NG3 to complete my Ninja Gaiden collection.
Looking at some of the footage, I’m not too happy about some of the enemies backing away and begging for mercy. Still tho, the slide and some of the stealth aspects look promising. This is still going to be a day one purchase for me. Even if it’s the worst game in the trilogy, it’s going to be way better than what the the rest of the hack-n-slash genre has to offer.
On another note, I want to play Black for the og Xbox, as I never played that one. I know it’s backwards-compatible on the 360, but the bc on the 360 tends to be buggy. Anyone tried it? Would I be better off just playing it on the og Xbox instead?
I recently bought original ninja gaiden for old xbox, everything works fine on my x360, but not black edition, just normal (without dlc and mission mode), on the other side Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex is only playable for me when I set resolution to 640x480…
NGB doesn’t work for you? I swear it works for my 360. The game seemed to play fine enough without any outstanding bugs or anything on the 360.
I really hate about all this humanizing the enemies. The reason why the other Ninja Gaiden games were so badass is because the enemies tried anything to freaking kill you. I thought them trying to suicide bomb me after losing an arm was awesome in NG2. If people were gonna go after a super ninja, going all out would make 10000000X more sense then sending a pansy who can’t even get within 5 feet of him without pissing themselves. Soldiers in the other games would try to slit your throat if they got the chance. I bet they are gonna try to add an incentive about not killing enemies with the whole plot of his bloody arm and all the people he kills.
Aside from hiring a decent jkd stylist for the mo-cap team and having Jann-Lee spout some direct quotes from Bruce Lee in cinemas from time to time, I don’t see it.
Itagaki was on his way out towards the end of NG2 development so aside from the technical kinks he didn’t manage to get out in time the gameplay system is fucking flawless and if you disagree you probably didn’t even beat the game on Mentor lol.
EDIT: I’ll admit some of the bosses where ass though.
It’s not flawless tho. Level 1 UTing delimbs just about everything leading to a quick OT for the kill. It’s a really really good system marred by stupid flaws that could easily be fixed with simply more time to refine. A good reason why Sigma 2 is a disappointment.
FYI, if you guys run Ninja Gaiden Black on 360, anytime MS does a system update for 360 it will corrupt all your data. If you try to take your HD and play Black on another 360 system, same thing. Data corrupted. I’ve learned the hard way. Six times.
Maybe Level 1 UT works on Normal but the game doesn’t start getting good until you start playing on Mentor/Master Ninja.
Um…it’s the strat i used through the whole game, on every difficulty for my Karma runs. It’s one of the most ideal strats you can use cuz once you get some essence flowing OLUTs come free. Don’t try to school me on this game, I know what I’m talking about.
Actually I have had only normal NG, I dont currently own NGB, but NGB have to work as it is in Games on Demand Problem is Crash Bandicoot: tWoC, which works for me only in probably format 4:3 resolution gotta figure it out somehow, or contact MS where could be problem.
Ninja Gaiden 3: It only plays itself…
EDIT: Also good god I hated NG2, nowhere near as good as the first and NGB…
Who even likes that piece of trash…
Only thing that NG had was beheadings and blood and it was like 100x better…
which point?
The actually researching JKD thing. It seems all he knew were the principles (common knowledge to cross/multi-stylists looking to combine their styles into one) and a few Bruce Lee quotes (which are pretty common knowledge), judging by DOA. Now, if the rock-star wannabe had done a little stage sparring with stunt men at shows showing doa 3 or 4 and looked competent, well, then I would have to agree that yes, he did research JKD somewhat. I’m just not seeing anything (other than some famous and well-known quotes) that isn’t present in most other 3d male kung-fu character (they all seem to do jkd these days, despite the names their companies give their styles).
Oh right I get you, well I am really giving him (and his team) props for finding an original JKD person rather than what all the other games do (like Virtua Fighter or Tekken) feature JKD Concept practitioners but still try do Bruce Lee lookalike and quotes thing.
I like swords…
but i hope theres gonna be more than just the dragon sword, if not then thats a problem for me
after watching more vids and such. I feel like they should have just not even made this a NG game, and made it a completely new IP. The fact that it’s NG is making them hold on to elements that are contradictory to the new feel. Having long and aerial combos, big robot bosses, etc., just doesn’t match with the more ninja-y feel of everything else.
It feels like they want to do a new-age Tenchu, which could be amazing. Tenchu style play but smoothed out and less “sim-like” could be incredibly fun. The stealth style kills in the smoke, the gliding takedowns, wall climbing, the story, etc, are all just so not NG.
I hope this game doesn’t end up as halfway between genres as it looks like it’s going to be.
The director already said they wanted to focus more on the sword, but they haven’t explicitly said no other weapons will be in it.
I was hype for this when I saw the first trailer. But instantly after that, with any new bit of info, I knew that it wasn’t going to be Ninja Gaiden.
I’m halfway interested in what this 6 or 8 person or whatever online is going to be about.
And I’ll still buy this before DMC. But not enough "fuck you, I hate you"s can be bestowed upon developers these days. So I won’t even bother.
