Any team has a chance to win any game at any point. Everyone has as much of a chance as the next guy.
Btw in this silly talk about the Texans-Raiders game no one even brought up that we were missing Donald Penn that game too. There isn’t too much to brag about when it comes to beating our defense, hell if you were smart and checked out the first game you’d know what to have expected when they played. The difference was Carr and protection. In the end though it doesn’t matter. The Raiders are out, and the Texans are probably going to be riding high into NE only to be blown out. But who knows maybe they somehow win?
@NeloVergil I don’t call it bragging just that you can’t expect to just out score these elite teams and win. So far the Chiefs halted that offense and we all saw what happened to the Raiders in both encounters. Hence why I said I see the Raiders being a year away after some fixes to that defense. I completely agree with Donald Penn being out was huge loss and it showed.
That internal power struggle between him and Rick Smith has been the rumored root of it. Problem is BoB is already in a hole since Rick Smith is a godfather to one of McNairs kids.
They need an OC badly though.
Hey man you never know. I will say though that we’re a really good defense away from being AFC championship contenders on a year by year basis. This year we had the same problem as last year where our corners gave up big plays on 3rd downs, TEs gashed us up the middle, and a lack of pressure from the outside. Dunno if its a player or scheme thing, but if these problem persist then I thin this’ll be the end of the KNJ experiment.
On offense we’re still missing a good TE who can catch and block. Not to mention depth at OL and our run blocking has been suspect at points. When we needed the run because Carr can’t get things started the OL gets suspect sometimes. Hopefully this offseason we focus on depth on offense, LBs, and depth at the line (especially interior). Our struggles with TEs are more important than the our problems at DB to me.
I think the scheme is part of the problem since they would try a zone and the TE would find the middle with little to no problems something the Texans took advantage of a few times. I wouldn’t be surprised if they give Bouye our corner a look at given that his contract is up this year, and it looks like you guys will let Hayden walk.

From what I understand OB is on very good terms with McNair, but Rick Smith is on better terms, obviously. Rick Smith is more than a GM to the Texans, he’s practically an owner. OB wants more personnel control, he wants to be able to make cuts sooner and at his discretion, Charles James was being kept around because of his story more than his play, Bill wasn’t happy. Bill wanted to cut Ryan Mallet sooner, Bill wanted to bench Osweiler sooner. He doesn’t have enough personnel control and it’s the same in the war room.
Bill O’Brien comes from the Patriots, you draft players to fit the system and you don’t neglect the OLine. Rick Smith drafts players based on measurables and the OLine is a revolving door of free-agents with no synergy. You only need to look at the Cowboys to see where that organisation could be with some real pass protection and run blocking. Lamar Miller has had one hell of a season but if he was running behind a good OLine he’d be All-Pro. Especially with some of the blocks Prosch has thrown this year, the Texans fullback is a beast, dude benches 500lbs and he ragdolls people, he’s the main reason the Texans run game has been one of the better ones though hardly anyone is talking about it.

The Texans are also in a shitty division. They won their division at 9-7. Not to diminish their division title, but they simply aren’t that good of a team. It’s similar to the Redskins getting in last year at 9-7 due to their shitty division then getting molly whopped in the first round against a team that was actually good. Only this time the Texans faced a team that was leaning on a 3rd stringer QB who has absolutely no experience.
They were missing two receivers, an outside linebacker, the starting right tackle, JJ Watt (seriously… it’s Watt) the starting centre, last years first round draft pick at corner… if those guys were healthy you’re talking about a totally different team. The Texans are a very good team with a bad situation at quarterback, they’re in a similar situation to what Seattle were before they got Wilson or the Broncos during the Tebow era.
They also held their own pretty damn well against the Raiders in Mexico with Carr, they let it slip in the 4th quarter. That game could have also been different if not for the spots and laser pointers. While they were 9-7 they also beat the Titans (9-7) and only lost to them in the final game because of rested players. They beat the Colts (8-8) twice, they beat the Lions who made playoffs, the beat KC. It’s a team that’s historically been bad but it’s also the youngest team in the league and at least since Watt and O’Brien have been there the team is looking up.

So Raiders let go of their OC and he goes to join the Broncos

AJ is in a contract year but he’s restricted. Texans have first dibs. Johnathan Joseph isn’t young and even though we have Johnson coming back from injuries we’d be stupid to let AJ walk. AJ matches well on tight ends because of his physical play nature. He’s great in press coverage as well.
Oh I know he’s really good the problem comes down to Rick Smith. Because you can’t keep everyone the issue is will he be loyal to JJo despite him being up there in years or will he do what a good GM is supposed to do sign the corner who is young and has shown tremendous growth while telling JJo thank you for the great years you’ve given us but it’s time to part ways. Remember there is still the looming extension with Hopkins that he can’t escape.
I say this since Rick has shown to be a loyalist more than not.
Anyone have a good link to learn about tactics in this game?

He had a history of it until recently when he let Andre go and Foster. Still a bit salty over both those not coming back for retirement conferences. Andre is going to the HoF and while Foster isn’t he was my favourite back in football under Kubiak
Wikipedia is pretty good for the basics but each team uses different strategies on offence and defence
Who’s ready for that Houston upset tonight?
Even I’m not betting on that and I’m one of the most optimistic people in this thread. It would make my year if it somehow happened though
AS QB coach. It’s just business my dude we were thinking about Wade Phillips and got Jack from the Broncos.

I don’t care who they are missing or what you think hypothetically would have happened “if” people didn’t get injured. Injuries are a part of football and you have to deal with them, just like any other team. Stop acting like the Texans are the only team that had to deal with injuries.
Trying to pull out opponents records is dumb too. It’s meaningless.
None of what you said changes the fact that they were in a shitty division and are a mediocore team. The definition of mediocore is average, and they were 1 game over having an average record. You are what your record says you are. Sure they are on the up and up which is good for them, but just stop trying to act like they are going to run the table and are a super bowl caliber team. They aren’t. They got blown out by the Pats earlier in the season and there isn’t really a reason tonight should be any different.
What you’re doing is called loser speak. I know all too well about it doing it myself over the past 2 decades as a Redskins fan lol.

The Rockets beat the Nets by 12… If you talking NFL the Texans got raped and Oswiener looks like Oswiener and went 20/45 168 Yards 0 TD and 3 INT before being benched for Savage when the score was 35-3
