Well, the reason I say it’s weird is because Colin was on the chopping block before this happened and now if the Niners let him go it’ll look really bad for them as an organization. That’s what most of us have been getting at: we’re not chastising the message as much as we are the timing of it. Colin could have spoken up last year when he still had a big spotlight on him, or even the year before when his career was at his peak and the Ferguson protests were in the limelight.
I don’t have any problem with what he’s preaching because it’s a free country and he can say what he wants, and his message rings true (and really, anyone who has a problem with the message is likely one of those psycho uber-bigots that have been coming out of the woodwork as of late), but he could have been doing this at less conspicuous times than right now.
To be fair, though, at least it’s not MJ’s response when athletes prompted him to speak up back in the 90s. “Republicans buy sneakers, too” lulz
He’s pretty much having to do this to shut up all the idiots who interpreted him sitting as some sort of disrespect to the military, which even people in the military said is bullshit given how many of them defended his right to sit on Twitter.
And if I have a problem with his message, it’s that I still don’t know what it is. Unless he’s finally specified what oppression and such led him to these recent decisions. The vagueness of his statements is my only gripe.
Considering, yet again, he has TWO PRESEASON QUARTERS under his belt, one of them being while he was injured, yes I’d much rather send Bradford out there to take the beating for him.
I also don’t care how many preseason quarters he’s played, because, yet again, he was put on 3rd string, which, unless I’m wrong, is what led to him getting hurt because he got slightly less protection than he would have gotten from the 1st string o-line.
My point is the top two picks found themselves knocked to the bottom. That’s it.
The Eagles O-Line is pretty awful all the way around, he was at risk of injury regardless of which line he played behind. There’s no interior depth at all.
Who the fuck cares? Back in the day it was the norm to have guys sit before starting. But now everyone wants top picks to immediately start. While the Rams should probably consider it, the Eagles (for better or worse) went out of their way to make sure Wentz had all the time in the world to acclimate himself. For all the picks you give up you don’t want to risk anything.
The Eagles COULD send Wentz out there Week 1 to fulfill the new “tradition” but it would be on a 70% rib, with very little playing time, with an unproven WR core and an extremely leaky Offensive Line that will probably be missing their premier RT for 10 games.
Besides, Bradford is gone after this year so you might as well use Year 1 to have Wentz learn the ropes from the bench while Bradford takes the beating. If you want to take it as some kind of “LOL, these teams wasted their picks on these bums that will never see the field”, so be it. Better that than having them go out there like RG3 and having their entire careers thrown away over one good year.
He’s listed as 3rd string so he doesnt play. When you put you’re 3rd qb in, you cannot put you’re first 2 string qbs in. It’s a silly rule but that’s what it is
the timing doesnt matter in hindsight now because apparently the message was sent
its just that people are dumb and talking about the action more than the message behind it
alot of things get lost in translation when he made it obvious what exactly he was protesting
even if he had did it in the regular season people are still idiots and that action was going to get misunderstood anyways because most people are uncomfortable about talking about inequality in this country. they hide behind the guise of it being disrespectful rather that taking in the message properly
then you get idiotic ass statements from people like rodney harrison and boomer esiason
Is there not one more person I can get for SRK Fantasy League 2 who can make Sunday’s draft at 945PM EST? Again, there’s a prize to the winner, no entry costs for those who play. The amount of people I’ve had who say they want to play and don’t sign up is crazy. I need one more person before Sunday.
Look, if Kaz is willing to lift my ban I’ll join SRK2 as a last resort if you need a last person. Because someone in both leagues kind of ruins the point.
Jeez. You make one simple observation of the top two picks in the draft getting put on 3rd string and all of a sudden you’re getting lectured about how players get used.
And yeah, if you’re drafted that high, there’s an expectation that you’re going to start right away, if not ASAP. They felt they needed a QB now, so they got a QB now. Otherwise, why trade out the ass to move up to take them? One’s now hurt and the other played his way to the bottom of the depth chart. All I did was point out this humorous circumstance.
I didn’t care past the initial observation I made. You’re the one who decided to make it about Wentz’ playing time and other shit it wasn’t about.
kaz, unban this guy from your league so he has something to do.
