NFBA emulator and related stuff

This was addressed in the 2DF thread, but I’ll explain it to ya!

nFBA apparently has some sort of problem with the arcade version of these games, so the creator hacked it to run the Neo console version instead. To play them, you will need the AES (console) bios in addition to the standard MVS (arcade) bios.

And don’t worry, MVS & AES gameplay is the same!

I turned triple buffering off (which causes less input delay) and now while my stick feels more responsive I’m seeing a lot of screen tearing (no vsync).

Anyone know how to fix this?

:rock::rock::rock: You are the shittttttttt. Thanks a lot. I found your old post too. Because I didnt know I had to put them both in the same zip haha. I gotta practice to play you guys sometimes in the future!

Has anyone gotten SS V Special to work with the uni-bios?It always goes into console mode…my other games like kof 98,kof 2003,garou motw work with it.fine.

Are you booting into the UniBios before the game starts?
Or are you going straight to game?

Hold [(A)(B)©] during the simulated Power up.
You should be able to go to the Menu and navigate to change to MVS mode.

when I load the game the unibios doesn’t pop up…i just see neo geo…and its always in console mode even with the dipswitch setting set to unibios It still won’t work with nFBA and I just can’t figure out why. When I start other games I see Unibios 2.3 and it goes into the game.

Well, I have an nFBA bug.

New stick. Mini-pac keyboard encoder.

That’s how it’s mapped.
In RBS as my test game; q=A, k=B, 6=C, d=D
When I hit D, it’s acting as if it’s C.
So whenever I go to do a plane shift, I either taunt or Fierce.

It works fine in windows games.
It works fine in MAME.

At the map screen, they act as separate entities.

But in game, D doubles as C…so I’m stumped.
Is there a default config I can delete and start over again?

Solved it. D Was doublemapped with “ABCD” I assume the same with 2DF.
Sigh.

whats with the whatismyip button…has the server thing been down or something…its annoying not being able to host…this has been going on for like the whole week or so…im sure other ppl have had this too

There’s plenty of ways to find out your ip.

Like this: http://www.ip-adress.com/

i know…obviously google is my best friend…but the bastard dont give me my port address…i need that shit =P

got a like it when the information provider is rebuked!!!..HO HOHO
LION!

I think it’s the only way to get rid of the tearing (on fullscreen, on windowed I still get the tearing); it’s strange that it would cause input delay, though

it won’t tell you what port is open… you set that yourself… e.g., if you open port 27886 (or whatever) on your router, then you just tell people to connect to your IP address at that port. but 27866 (or whatever) is the default port anyway, so as long as you have that port open on your router, you can just give people the IP address without the port.

the only time you need to give the port number is when it’s not the default. just make sure you don’t have “force port” set in p2p.

frames have to go through the triple buffering system before being drawn, so there would have to be some finite amount of delay between input and display. so for less delay, turn it off.

about the game speeding up too much, i don’t know. here’s what i think though. i think the emulator would IDEALLY run the game as fast as possible, BUT no faster than what the game’s rated speed should be. so, for 3s, it would ideally always run at 60fps. in real life though, there’s probably some slow-downs, where frames are pushed out at less than the game’s rated speed (again, 60Hz for 3s), and so would have to compensate by emulating faster (and therefore pushing frames faster than 60Hz) to average out the speed that the user experiences. in fact, if you use the p2p client, you can see that the framerate isn’t exactly 60. it goes lower and higher; it’s variable, but the user doesn’t notice it because it’s happening so fast and it all averages out. BUT if your monitor refresh is set at 60Hz, it’s probably during those periods of faster emulation that the screen tearing is noticeable, because it’s during those times that the emulator is giving frames to your monitor at a faster rate than your monitor can draw them. i’m guessing that forcing 60Hz refresh would fix this, but i’m not sure how that works; it might involve some sort of buffering, or it might require that the emulator run at a higher priority, or something. don’t know.

what it all comes down to, is that the best fix, i think, without any “hacks”, would be to increase your monitor’s refresh rate as high as possible, safely above 60Hz. note that LCD monitors typically have lower refresh rates than CRTs, so it might not be possible for you to do this if you have an LCD.

hope that all made sense.

it doesnt work like that for me…normally i just have hamachi on and i host and im fine…the only thing that i need the whatismyip thing for is to get the port…this is the reason why most ppl cant host anymore without using hamachi…there port changes every so often…plus i cant forward my ports manually anyways so trying to set it to a specific port is out of the question

I’m having a problem with certain Neo Geo games even being detected on NFBA. I have the Neo Geo BIOS, and some Neo Geo games are detected on NFBA (TSS, MD3, WHP, the first two Real Bout games), but other games that I have aren’t even detected at all (not even a slashed or grayed out circle). Games like KOF (98, 2002), FFS, RBFF2, BR, Garou, SamSho (2, 5SP). I put the games on MAME and they are detected, but not for NFBA, so it can’t be a corruption problem.

By the way, I put everything in the ROMs folder (where they are supposed to be), I even made another ROMs folder, but still, it won’t show.

EDIT: I’m not asking for ROMs or anything illegal, just need help on this situation.

^ My guess is that your BIOS is missing some files. Some Neo games need certain files to operate and others don’t…

Ok my question: My cousin reported a strange problem he’s been having. His Neo Geo games always reset to default settings (Asia MVS) even offline - meaning the settings don’t save after switching games or closing/reopening NFBA. Also, his NFBA always says “Samurai Shodown II” in the window’s title bar despite whatever’s opened up. I don’t have this problem at all… and I have no idea where in the config ini any of this stuff would be written. Any ideas?

hello,guys
tell me plz how to set deadzones for analog mini sticks on dual shock 2?
mame allows u to do that,so what s about nfba?

hmm…nobody knows??
