Need answers plz and I know they are nooby questions T_T. Hope someone helps.

I got some questions that might not be Yun related but just general gameplay. I’ve been playing for a while now off and on but really getting into it now. For the most part I’ve played Yun and pretty much every game I go for throws after dive kicks if I see the opponent blocked it. Or I go for Ex lunge punch and then throw after. Should I be attacking delay attack and then throwing for best results? I don’t know how to use focus attack at all, any tips? And it seems that Shoryukens beat everything on wakeup? And on wakeup like what are my real options (I mean my opponent on the floor)? If I hit c.LK and he throws me would I win that engagement? Sometimes I get beat by attacks when I throw but I just figure I timed it wrong and got punished. Shouldn’t them jumping be the only thing that can punish me going for throws? And of course teching to get out. I just need that cleared because I get shit on everytime they wake up. Also, is it possible to crossup dive kick and combo on wakeup? I usually just go for c.Lp and then throw. When Should be using his command throw? I know his EX beats reg throws but not sure when and if ever I should use regular command throw. And lastly, how can I get out of Zangief/Thawk command throws? I have never gotten out of their throws and usually the game is over if they throw me once.

I guess I’ll learn with a lot of experience since no one wants to help :frowning:

Spend time in training so you make sure your dive-kicks hit the opponent on the knees. If you hit them too high, try to backdash, tech or do upkicks quickly (do this last one sparingly though). Most of the time you’ll be punished with a reversal or throw for hitting them too high though. Use focus attacks when they use heavy pokes, I think if you do it fast enough you can dash in and start a combo in their recovery frames. You can also use it to absorb fireballs at long range. Be more careful doing it close or medium range because they’ll be able to throw another fireball immediately (although you can sometimes use this to your advantage by jumping over it and hitting them with a jump-in attack, if they throw it in a bad position).

Shoryukens dont beat you blocking, bait them out sometimes by using a cr.lp just before the opponent wakes up so you can block their shoryuken. Dont do this too often though or they’ll just get up and throw you. On their wake-up you can do a crossup dive-kick (and yes, if you aim and time it right you can combo from it but you’ll need to practice this), command grab them (careful with this if they’re wake-up dp happy and have meter), start a combo (best to use crouching light kick) or just bait a reversal and block. I don’t think either version of his command grab is throw invincible anymore, pretty sure they nerfed that for 2012. Use his command grab while interrupting your own block strings (e.g. cr.lp x2 is blocked, go straight into command grab really quick), ocassionally only their wakeup or if they’re crouch blocking too much without doing much offensively. Back dash and neutral jump a lot against Gief/T-Hawk, careful using slow pokes or they’ll SPD you from miles away. Also work on your combos so you don’t drop them and get SPD’ mid combo.

Thank you so much seigfeid. I have been putting a lot of time in training mode. Much more comfortable with his dive kicks and combos now

yes it is possible to crossup/non-crossup divekick and combo on their wake up. it’s how i get most of my damage. the timing is character specific though or you will hit too high and get punished. some characters (balrog, sagat) it’s just too strict so i hardly bother doing it. just keep trying it until it works it’s really difficult to practice something like that in training mode.

You actually can’t do it on balrogs wake up from what I know. Unless someone has proven me wrong.

yeah you can but i just meant its harder than most characters, and he can also safely autocorrect ex-rush out of it
