God, you guys are hilarious.
Can someone post some matrix blockstrings using either sentinel or cyclops as an assist.
Nice restes btw mixah, I’m definatley going to put them to good use.
guardstrings are really only useful in certain situations or for characters with some type of projectile/means of a trap/chip damage.
with guardstrings it always leaves the opponent open to pushblock which just leaves room for error in a rushdown situation. so the more hits means its more likely for the person to pushblock.
the key for people like storm/magz is to simply cause the opponent to block. once they block, you have general advantage and sometimes frame advantage. so you don’t necessarily need anything fancy, just the ability to make contact with a couple hits on a guarded character. its more important to play SMART and realize when you can safely attack. if they block your crossup/mixup/attack then thats when you try and go for some SHORT type of pressure string.
ie: say an opponent just SJ’d and is about to land. you CALL drones, and you cross under before they land and go for a c.lk RIGHT before the drones hit. even though they blocked, you have advantage because they are hit with drones. now they key is to do another mixup and land a hit.
the only blockstring you used was a c.lk>drones yet sets you up for a nasty little rush down attempt.
the game is filled with a bunch of annoying AAAs. Storm is not a trap character, so chances are her block strings aren’t TOO complex. the only time you should continually apply pressure is against the last standing character.
Thanks tech. Basically the main reason I asked for guardstrings is because i was looking for an effective way to keep the opponent grounded (if only for a second) so that I could try for a cross up.
Honestly my offence is mediocre at best and i’m just looking for some enlightenment. Basically my rush down/crossup/mix up skill is slacking:shake:
I play at CF and I see these guys rape with mags, storm, and sentinel and they have the skill of getting in and I would like to develop that. I’m open to any advice.

It’s very difficult for me to rush down anyone if they are using assists like psylock, capcom, and T-bonne. any pointers?
Try to bait out their assist. If you are using matrix most often, get in the habit of counter calling with cyke. This will pop the assist in the air for a substantial amount of time and give you the opportunity to apply pressure and/or get a hit.
Another option is to build lots of meter, depending on your point character. Again, bait out the assist, say sj. AD/DF lp, dash back cyke+hail. If you hail the assist a couple of times, they will be much more reluctant to call it for fear of death. At this point, you can apply extremely safe (for you) pressure. If you see the assist come out, kill it with another cyke + hail.
If you start or have sent on point, just make sure you have 2 bars before you start using HSF to punish an assist. If they pushblock out, DHC to hail to stay safe and punish the assist call further.
thx man. Lately I’ve put down matrix and started using msp. after randomly practiceing here n there one night i was just able to do mags infinite. I’m taking this team to chinatown fair this saturday hopefully some people will be there. I’m not expecting to dominate but I will raise a few eyebrows.
What’s up man, do you by chance know how to make the otg typhoon connect; do I need to dash down-forward with a lk, making the lk otg them and then throw the lk typhoon and cancel that into the second hailstorm? Do you know of specific assits that would get them high enough for it? Also sir, could you please tell me what the “Power” gem super is. Thanks for the help and much luv!
M N N
you want them to be near the top of the screen.
mags or psylocke comboing all the way up there, then DHCing to hail, air dash to the groun quickly, throw out a typhoon and do hail again
chun likAAA hits them high enough
power gem scenario: thanos on point, jin AAA hits opponent, immediate power gem super, DHC to hail, hail is hitting foo near top of screen, then power gem ball comes in, storm lands and hails again while power gem ball is hitting
i hope someone is still alive here…
i’m tring to do storm’s basic:
launcher /\ lp lk lp lk LA (X1 or X2) Super.
but no idea why sometimes the super just won’t comes out…
i’m pretty new to the VS games, but played fairly well in GGXX and SF4
thx
do up/forward LA x2 then do < v >+ lp+hp
Hey how do Storm players do j.hp and fall so fast?
[add] air dash down
how do u cancell the second LA in a combo?
cancel in to super? just do the super after the lightning attack connects. you can’t do it grounded though.
does anyone use this corner combo?:
launch, j.lp, j.lk, j.mp, j.mk, adf, j.hk, as you fall OTG j.HP before land, land, c.lp, j.lk, j.lp, j.mk, j.mp, j.hk.
its done at about 40 seconds into this vid.

yea, but i have sexier setups in the corner =)
I only do this when I hit a floating tri jump with 2-3 normals.
Usually I do launch/off of a clean cyke hit, j. hk xx addf, ad. hp, ad. hk(otg), cr. lp…into whatever mixup/combo I want. Alternatively you could replace the cr. lp for a st. hk for more damage.
is there any trick to useing the thunder super after an air combo?
if you’d like help, please learn the lingo. Not just so we can understand you, but so you can understand us if we give you an answer.
Thunder super = Lightning Storm (LS)
Hail super = Hail storm.
You can’t just do magic series to LS. You have to do Lightning Attack (LA) cancelled in to LS.
As soon as the LA makes contact, is right when you should be performing the inputs for LS. Maybe a fraction of a second after, never early, and not too late.
thanks for the tip
