Note: This is a newb seeking advice, not a crying post. I just suck really bad. Please keep responses simple and if possible, spell out words so I can learn the language.

Basically I have not played street fighter since alpha 3 days and marvel vs capcom 2 on the dream cast. I have been attempting to read these boards for advice for cammy because I am currently getting rolled by players.

I have read the manual, looked at some strategy guides, and since yesterday these forums. I feel that breaking things down to frames and certain minusha does not work for me. What I need are plans/strategies against other players. The players giving me the most heat are:

Ken, Ryu, Akuma, E honda, Thawk, blanka, seth.

General issues

I dont know what to do against guys that just crouch and block until my combo is over. People with reach (seths arms, or projectiles) cause me to sit and block.

It also seems that even though I have a full bar of energy, my super wont fire off a lot of the time. And on top of that everyone seems to block it in time , how do I get it to land.

Combos dont seem to do alot of damage or dont land, my character keeps getting pushed back so i combo at best 1 or 2 hits, usually blocked, or they do sad damage.

Hooligan worth it? cant seem to justify it as I cant block in air and everyone throws out an attack before my throw lands.

Try going to this site, they have videos that can help you with every step of the way.

You have a unique variety to mix up. In the middle of your combo, do a walk-up throw. If they catch on, do an Instant Cannon Strike to counter their throw/jab mashing. If they mash a Dragon Punch move, just hold down back and wait for them to whiff. You have these choices and more. They are forced to play this game once you start the rushdown with them. Also before you start the combo you have a variety of things to do. You can cross-up with a jumping light kick, you can poke with standing/crouching middle kick or standing roundhouse, you can focus and dash in then use any of the techniques said above… You have a lot of options, it’s just knowing which one to mix it up with.

Your super is most efficient when it hits, you can guarantee it will hit by hit confirming any number of moves into the Super. This means you can go from a crouching Middle kick, cancel that into your Hard Spiral Arrow, and cancel the 2nd hit of your Spiral Arrow into your Super. Your Super is also very fast and starts up in 2 frames or something like that, so you should experiment to see what enemy moves you can Reversal Super after blocking.

Check out the Combos thread to see what combos you should be doing. Your Bread and Butter combo should be taking off at least 150 damage. This topic is way too big to talk about in one post.

Hooligan is a game in itself. It’s a good mindfuck game as well as it’s great for free damage. For example, after landing a Cannon Spike, you can instantly do a Heavy Hooligan, and if they quick stand, you can throw them for free as long as they don’t mash out their Dragon Punch. Another example is if you make a backthrow and do a Medium Hooligan on their wakeup, you will make it to the other side of your opponent. With that you can: A) Go sailing over their head if they try mashing out a Dragon Punch, B) Land early and set up a meaty attack on the other side just to mess with them. C) Backdash if you think they are going to wakeup Dragon Punch on the right side.

As you can see, there’s a lot of depth to the game. It’s all about experimenting and finding out the perfect bag of tricks to screw your opponent over with.

Take time to study all of her basics and feel out what works for you. Some play aggressive and some play a lot of defence so you have to find what feels comfortable to you. Cammy is a fun character to use. If your on psn feel free to add me: RuInEr6969
I’m not the best but I can help you out a bit. Hell, gather some other Cammy players from here and we all can get into an endless battle room that way you can witness different styles first hand

Just keep playing. Learn some basic combos. And just keep playing. It took me a while to start winning.

It starts with Challenge mode > Trials. Do these about 2-3 times and you’ll have a better understanding of links, cancels, combos, setups, etc.

Dont get discouraged, I still suck and I;ve been playing for over a year.

Cammy is a chase character, harder to use though due to having to rely on focus often.

Jumping heavy kick has a really nice reach
Cannon spike has a really nice reach with priority
Cannon drill has a really nice reach with priority
Walking speed is fast
Jumping light kick is fast with any other character
I guess spamming dive kicks is useful in cases with the overhead attack being removed
You’ll have to get good with link combos if you want to win with this character

Spinning back fist sucks for the most part because it hardly ever hits
Hooligan grab is useless unless they focus attack which you could just as easily using fist

Ex spinning back fist is worthless
Ex cannon drill is god like
Ex hooligan grab is only useful if they fireball from full screen or something

It has a reasonable use as a wake up escape move as it is entirely invulnerable to begin with. (as far as I can tell.)

One good piece of cammy mix up:

Jump in as though you are going to light kick cross up but cancel the jump into a cannon strike. This gives them a 50/50 block guessing game because cannon strike does not cross up even if it hits the back of them, do they block backwards to stop the light kick combo or forwards to stop cstrike?

Ugh… how difficult is it to post questions to this thread (esp, it’s already stickied).

Should close this thread…

Hm… I’ll say the same thing’s SH_ told me a year back. Cammy has : Speed, mix up and a strong wake up game.

You can use her speed to abuse tick throws, her mix up isn’t really a mix up to be honest. When I do play Cammy , I try to abuse j. lk cross ups, or fake them, or use Tiger Knee Cannon Strike into it. Hooligan is good too, but only if you can predict them teching on wake up. But all her damage relies on pulling off a ghetto vortex, keeping the opponent down through cross ups and tick throws, what not.

I would not use spin knuckle, since EX spiral arrow goes under fireballs, and grant’s you a knock down. Albeit, spin knuckle is faster in this game than it was in Vanilla IV. There’s a ton more I could explain right now, but I’m playing X-Com as I type this so… yeah.
But for your basics, here’s what’ll help.

Standing Roundhouse , crouching forward , crouching fierce , standing forward, are your pokes.
You can cancel crouching forward into hard spiral arrow. You can cancel Cannon Spike close up for a throw or another cannon spike attempt, depending on the situation. Also realize that Cammy has a hard time against turtles. Blargh, back to X-com
