hey guys … i love the new changes !! …
still personally i would have wished for one or both of the following buffs.
- make st.HP an overhead to force opponents to stand …
- make his grabs 2 framers like gief and thawk … i dont understand why its 3 frames (so annoying) …
apart from that im happy with the changes … start up oil and jump over dives are gonna be awesome to say the least.
im still working on my hakan (i havent given up … just decided to keep radio scilence till im at a more respectable level … lol ) …
i have to say … my biggest struggle with him right now is his wake up … and how to keep the hakan momentum once u start with the pressure … can be tough vs some of the cast …
i got used to the akward anti-airing (or not for that matter) … f.MP or even cr.HP or slider to make things whiff can drive people mad
i still get the occasional excecution mind fuck … but its gradually getting less and less and im proud of that … (hes doing what i want him to do now … lol ) … still i feel like theres alot to learn with him … i might start testing him out on ranked …
Over heads arn’t necessary when you have a command throw honestly, it beats the same things and more. Standing Fierce is just a good punish for back dashes and focus attacks.
Waking up with Hakan can indeed be tough, but SSFIV is very much about just guessing accurately. If you get knocked down, assess the situation in that brief moment to decide which option offers the best outcome in the event of failure. For example: I’m not going to crouch tech Ryu on my wake up near the corner if he has EX meter of any amount. Instead I’ll block down-back and eat an overhead or at worst a throw for my incorrect guess.
As far as pressure is concerned, if you can stay oily near an opponent I think that in itself is good enough pressure. As long as you are oily you can abuse saving attacks and dash ins better than most characters. Samurai Drew’s pressure tutorial emphasis centers around being fearless. Don’t be afraid to burn some meter to stay close and put the opponent into long strings that discourage jumping so you can oil rocket them.
I’m sure you’ll be fine.
The kind Samurai drew kinda answered this, but opponents with forward wake-ups you can bait your oil dive by charging. As soon as he or she wakes up, they are going to either ultra or some special move. Use coward crouch (d + all puches). Be careful with this, if they didnt bite your vulnerable for a couple of frames. Hope this helps!
