Pat the NES Punk just did a small video on The Carousel Arcade at Seaside Heights NJ. Thought maybe you would find it interesting. They have the largest pinball machine in production (Hercules) and the light gun game with the big saloon was always one of my favorites.
Sweet, now I can get called a hacker even more! Finally the keyboard/mouse vs controller issue can be settled… again (Protip: Keyboard/mouse is superior).
The mouse tends to be filtered with some really lame ‘smoothing’ algorithm that improves the way the game looks / feels EXCEPT for the fact that it completely neuters the player. But, whatever.
I just played in my first Dutch tournament. I did overall pretty well for not having played against competitive players except for once in the past 3 months. I’m looking forward to finding out what place I got.
They do things really interestingly here. There were 8 pools each had 5 players. Each pool is played round-robin an the top 3 went into brackets. I don’t understand why the top 3 would go into brackets… I’d think the top 2 at most. But, it is what it is. It allowed everyone to get a number of games in, so you don’t just go 0-2 and then go home. I met some cool people and had a good time.
I also beat a number of players that people apparently thought were the bee’s knees. I played against this guy that was considered “the best dutch chun li player.” He was pretty good and all. But, Eddie was better.
I played a 5 euro money match against this guy named ferdi. He played seth. I only took 1 match off him first to 5 but I saw some interesting stuff. He didn’t perfect me, either.
Wow. Those are some crazy results. Doro placing second in Marvel?! Good shit! Patrick doesn’t even play Marvel much, but he’s still raping people. Phil and Chris topping the AE is awesome too. Sorry I couldn’t make it out.
That tournament format is weird, but it’s cool how it does give everyone a chance to play more than a few matches. Nice job on beating the “bee’s knees” people. lol
NeoBlood, great to hear that you are making it out! I look forward to meeting you in person finally. And yes, I am hoping that Sept. 3rd will be mad hype.
GG’s to everyone I played at Eraser’s last night, Anthony, thanks again for hosting and the matches as well.
Woot, GG’s man. I don’t know if you were not at full strength last night but I think that’s probably my most wns against you ever. Thanks for playing Yun so i could work on the matchup. On that note I think I know why it’s so frustrating to fight him. It’s because it feel extremely arbitrary. Stuff does or does not work “just because”. Setups, weird hitboxes and wonky wakeup all combine to create a matchup in which stuff just happens because the game says so, with no seeming rationale. However, it is what it is, and until the next version I’ll be working on just trying to make the right reads, as that fight seems more about reads than any other. Thanks again.
Shawn, that’s an intriguing setup for a tournament, it might be something I’d try out for a smaller event. How many people total were in that tourney, if you happen to remember?
I was thinking it was an interesting format as well. Although it may take a little longer to finish a tournament, I think it’d be fun to play round robins.
Something like 40-50 players. I’ll get the official count and whatnot tomorrow. I gotta say, it took all day long but it was a lot of fun. It also builds a bit of hype as you learn who goes through to the bracket.
Dude Phil and I were watching your set. You played your ass off and gave a fantastic display of Phoenix’s broke assed-ness. You are so much better every time I see you play. We’ll teach you anything you wanna know and play with you as much as you want [pause] in AE. Good shit!

Good shit. Yeah man that sounds like a fun time and while an interesting format, I don’t think it’s bad at all. Especially the pool structure. For larger tournaments I could see it taking forever, but for a tourney of small to medium size it’s perfect, especially if you have people traveling reasonable distances. You avoid what you stated as well as the, “I came here and played my homeboy 2nd round” dilemma.
I must make the trip soon so they can know Justice.
Thank you sir! GGs to all! Need to play moar and need moar matchup exp! not mad at losing or anything…i just do lol. I want to keep improving.
