Idk about Gen but EX Tornado Throw will catch any “mashed” crouch short. If the shorts are done perfectly then there is only a 1-frame gap (3 frame startup, +2 on block) so you are pretty much put into a mixup. I think Abel beats Bison up close though (and most other characters because of his high-priority command grab), the hardest part is getting in. It’s a really momentum-based matchup with every Abel I’ve played, it often comes down to who got the knockdown first.

See I dont know how this constitutes “blowing something up”. So I need to waste meter and execute frame perfect reversal to try and catch your limb in order to possibly get him to stop mashing or abusing a three frame normal that sets up its own mix-up? GTFO with that. Not to mention if the grab whiffs you have time to punish with pretty much anything. Does it “work” sure but the risk/reward is meh at best. As for the match in general even if Able knocks you down if you have bar you have several avenues of escape and he cant OS them all AFAIK. If you dont have bar then yes he makes Bison’s wake up miserable. The most dangerous situation for Bison in this match IMO is if Able lands a reg grab cause if so he can kill EX PC charge before you wake up but Able still has to guess on if he OSes to cover the teleport or baits the EX DR. I agree the match is very momentum based though but I feel its far harder for Able to get the momentum. Though this is one match Able can turtle out if he has life lead.
Pro anti-Bison Strat:
When you are getting attacked, make sure to hold down back. This is the best strategy against Bison, as he has no real moves to make you stop blocking, 99/100 times when you are getting hit against Bison, it’s because you tried to jump (not holding down back), or he tricked you into a tech trap (still not holding down back), or you tried to press anything in his st. mk / roundhouse range.
Frame traps brah he mashes he gets counter hit! atleast that what I usually do
example Ryu vs Bison if you do jab jab pause very slightly c.mp will counter hit him if he’s mashing short letting me hit confirm into sweep. Ask Justin I use to blow up his OS tech all the time with ken doing stuff like this. With Ken I’d do it into SRK instead of c.mp so I’d CH in FADC full ultra but its the same principle

Another bad habit everyone has in Memphis is improper crouch teching, everyone does it way too fast and not at all in response to the blockstring itself. For instance I’ll see someone do a 3 hit blockstring and the other person is still hitting tech on the 3rd hit. Like is it truly and honestly that hard to react to from that far away? Crouch teching IMO should only be done if you block a jump in and on the initial light move following it, everything else truly isn’t that hard to react to “oh he’s walking into throw range” and perform a normal throw.
The only people I know that do correct crouch techs in Memphis are Anthony and Squabbler.
I think I suck at crouch teching.
I dont hit tech until I see them stand up they can’t throw you while their crouching
I am terrible at just about anything dealing with wake-up, rather that be crouch-teching after a successful blocked cross-up or figuring out which way to block once knocked down. But I am working on that this week with a few of the locals here so hopefully this portion of my game will get better here very soon.
