Memphis (and anyone who appreciates beer): The Cooper-Young Regional Beer Festivalis being held this Saturday in mid-town. Tickets are $30 bucks for all you can draaaank for anyone interested. If you’re into craft beer and micro-brews you’ll probably enjoy this.
I am in tears. I don’t know why that is so fucking funny.
Lmao. I can’t fuck with Mina in IV. She’s dryer than dog shit under the sun. I feel she might be a bit better than Rock, she has better punishing, better stand alone moves, but eww. At least Rock has shenanigans. Mina is just straightforward all day, but she’s not good. So fuck it. Then you have to be at the exact range for some of her moves to even take on launch/stagger properties, and even when you are max range, it’s not like she has spectacular keepout or pokes. She’s just too boring in that game and one of the main reasons why I stopped playing it early after release.
I played Bishop’s Raph-fag-el online last night, and went and played Terrence’s(Big Majin) Mister Roogi after work this evening. In between knockdowns, Rock is just a big meatbag. It’s so underwhelming using him in nearly all situations. Rell keeps trying to get me to pick up Astaroth, but I hate looking at that character. I can honestly say I never had any interest in him. If there ever was any uprising in the scene again before SCV drops, I’d just be playing Rock all day, but have one of the sisters(prob Cass) in the back. And just pray Bangoo is in SCV with a Marduk tackle and deathfist. If not, nothing in this world would make sense to me anymore…
Don’t laugh. His legal name is Little Melvin Jr. And he’s the only hope of there being vampires with umbrellas and Fist of the North Star squirrels in Memphis. And Trinity Platinums.
Hopefully you two actually had the rare 5-bar connection, which meant you could react to lows. Otherwise, you might as well get on the phone with someone and flip a coin, calling heads or tails.
O doesn’t really have a single main lol … he plays with Ryu and Guile, then he dabbles with Ken, Fei, AK, and a bunch of others …
Nah I really couldn’t and Raph has some deceptive shit. But mainly because I don’t know strings and moves yet (other than Astaroth and Mitsurugi). I was just trying to GI stuff. It was pretty lame lol.
Oh Ok…
PM your address so I can get directions from my job to your house so I can MAKE SURE I am there Wednesday . If you guys are still gaming after 10 you know I will be there.
FlyMike please explain why you have an NBA Street avatar! lol!
O’s Guile is nothing to be feared. He sees me every week for an edge up.
Seriously speaking, Bang is the only thing that kept me playing BlazBlue. Im not one to hate on a game just because it doesn’t play like everyone expected it too. I had accepted the game for what it was when it 1st came out…NOT GUILTY GEAR. Keeping that in mind I just learned the game and enjoyed playing it but definitely wouldn’t have played as long as I did if it wasn’t for Bang. Despite people’s peeves, the game is still pretty solid and fun if you really give it a chance. FlyMike just thinks I don’t have any issues with that game because I don’t bitch about petty shit(“this game is too anime. ugh…”) like the majority of the fighting game community does these days. So for the sake of proving that I don’t blindly “love” BlazBlue, here are my gripes about each version I played and the series in general:
BLAZBLUE IN GENERAL: The presentation does not appeal to me at all. “Anime Fighters” just aren’t really my thing. The menus and guages( except for Hakumen’s in CS ) didn’t appeal to me either.
-
The art during the cut scenes are very cheap looking in my opinion and I hate the VS screen music. I also don’t like the character select screen music. So blah and unhype.
-
The characters talk WAY TOO MUCH when they’re fighting. You shouldn’t be speaking in paragraphs while getting combo’d. The only reason this doesn’t bother me now is because Im so in the zone when I play that stuff like that get’s tuned out.
-
Some of the characters look really stupid to me or are just plain “meh” imo. I think Tager is a cool character design on paper, but he just looks dumb on screen fighting. Arakune is the love child of a turd and a Shy Guy from Mario Bros. Rachel is a straight up Loli. Sorry, but I like my women fully developed. Noel is just blah. Guns do not make her look cool imo. Tao…no. Carl looks like a Yugi-Oh character. Platinum…again, not a big fan of little girl designs. V-13 and Mu-12, just don’t appeal and players talkin about their little girl asses(dat ass) make me ashamed to play the game.
BLAZBLUE: CALAMITY TRIGGER: Very stupid game
-
Carl Clover broke that game. 1 touch and it was over without any hope of getting out of his infinite. Unless you were Hakumen, V-13, or Rachel I believe but even then, 1 more touch…DEAD.
-
Arakune is in my opinion one of the cheapest characters ever made. Very lame keep away with tons of damage if he hits you along with his “hard to tell what the hell he’s doing” mixups. It’s bad enough he looks stupid, but then he’s actually good and cheap.
-
Rachel controlled wind so she automatically had a huge advantage against a lot of the lower tier characters. Oh yeah, stupid damage as well.
-
V-13 was the nightmare character. She was indeed beatable because of her very low health, but good luck touching her. Swords everywhere and to make it worst, it only took 1 button. BULLSHIT!
BLAZEBLUE: CONTINUUM SHIFT: The 3rd Strike of the series. No infinites or easily exploitable bullshit like in CT, but VERY tier heavy.
-
Bang getting buffed made me very happy at 1st but him being so strong not only spawned an army of counterfeit Bangs, it made winning with him very easy and not so fun. You knew you were playing with a good ass character.
-
Litchi was dumb in the 1st game but in this version she was flat out stupid. The best character in the game(hell, the series) in my opinion. She had range, speed, DAMAGE, an invincible DP that she could combo after, and damn near impossible to block mixups. She had some sort of an advantage against everyone.
-
Ragna was like Wolverine in Marvel 3 in my opinion. He only needed 1 simple combo and his damage from that was so stupid that he didn’t really need any others but most definitely had them. He also got a full combo from his DP as well. DUMB.
Guile vs Bison = LOL…
Still don’t know how people think that match is lopsided…Just don’t jump with Bison
GGs to Jacob Sparks
The connection was actually 5 on my end the entire time. I couldn’t do just frames consistently but reacting to everything was never a problem for me…slaw
Sorry about not getting online to accept your request, I had a friend over and he insisted that we play SSFIV.
ha, “Evil Grimstar” but nah man, I never really got mad about it. People are entitled to their opinion, I may have disagreed at the time, but I don’t get mad over something stupid like that… If that’s how you feel about it then that’s fine by me. At the time I was just trying to get you to understand my perspective more, and I felt you hadn’t tried the game out enough to judge it so harshly. Now I don’t give a shit, because I agree with you for the most part. I don’t have an extreme hatred for the game, because to an extent I owe it to it for re-introducing me to fighting games, and making me want to actually get into them beyond button mashing… But it’s just gotten so… random. And honestly looking back it always was pretty random, which was fun for a bit, but it got stale quick. And the game is just constantly readjusting everything to where they fix the last broken thing only to break another one… And the game has no idea what it wants to be, they’re changing shit at the drop of a hat, same way Sentinel got nerfed like 2 weeks into MvC3…
I might come back to BB after they’ve figured out what the fuck they want to do with it, and once it’s actually sat on a patch for longer than like 2 months… That way I can actually dedicate some time to it (hopefully) without it coming out with another pointless overhaul that forces you to relearn the entire fucking game in order to keep playing. I mean, nerfing some frame advantage stuff and hit box alteration is one thing… But completely changing how every fucking move a character has property wise, is completely counterproductive IMO. So until they figure out wtf they want BB to be… I’m done with it.
One thing I do really like about the series is the voice acting. While I do agree with Bishop in that they talk WAY too fucking much during battle, the story mode cutscenes are all really well done VA wise. They have a lot of good talent behind the characters.
Alright, so my brother and I will be at the arcade sometime between noon and 2 tomorrow/today…Tuesday. Mike has to work so he probably won’t be joining us. But we will be hanging out for a few hours.

Any upcoming tournaments in Memphis? We Arkansas guys need to make a trip up to Memphis to get some games in with you guys sometime. Do you guys have weekly gatherings and what not? We’re only a few hours away.
I suggest coming out this Weds to Jas’s place. Usually we have fight nights at Hastings, which is a video/bookstore in Cordova, but Jas has an open place this weekend so he’s hosting FN there this week.
@Mike: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxVJrnRguCs This is the Mina I was talking about. He’s really good. Also, page is a really good Rock, apparently. With Mina, I only know that she works best at tip range. As far as Astaroth, he isn’t hard to learn at all. And Mitsu seems to be the best newbie character, I hear.
Also, all I have is SCIV on xbox at the moment, but if any of you want to play, message me. :3 I should have my ps3 back eventually.
Kinetic - I will use Ryu! I aint scarred of your mashing Bison! But seriously, I have come to the conclusion that I do not have a Main, however, I will never stop playing Ryu.
Negro - This Niggah here! Do I need to get Woot’s attention so you can really learn how to play Bison?
Dream - Someone finally said it! I dont think that matchup is THAT bad!
Woot plays Bison?
Yo will anyone be at GG tonight? I get off work at 5:30 and was gonna stop by to get some games in with Dream if he was available.
