I don’t hate the game but I don’t like it either for several reasons. It is far too defensive since your barrier/push block is seperate from your other meter unlike in GG. Throws are a joke at higher levels, you have to seriously mindfuck your opponent to pull them off because you have like half a year to tech. This makes the game boil down to a boring high-low mixup into a 20+ second combo (I don’t like hitstun deterioration combo systems for exactly this reason). I haven’t looked at the frame data to support this but it seems that tons of moves give lots of frame advantage on block so against certain characters you’re sitting in blockstun for a long, long time. GG had this too (Eddie corner mixups, oh god) but due to things like the general pace of the game, dead angle, safe DP with RC/FRC and 0-frame throws it was a lot more manageable.
Bottom like, it takes GG and throws out or changes most everything interesting and fun about it. The airdash mechanics and corner rape are still there but everything else about the game feels clunky. I do quite like the character designs and art style though.
Yeah, the frame data is there for frame advantage. At least it was uuhhh… like 2 game iterations ago that I played. Lots of shit was stupid safe, especially Litchi. She could do whatever the fuck she wanted, you literally couldn’t tech out of her shit a certain way or you’d fall back into another safe mixup of hers.
And I completely agree with the boring high/low mixup. that’s pretty much how EVERY combo starts. I’m still on the fence about hitstun deterioration, I like it to a degree, but BB takes the combos too far IMO
I played BlazBlue for a good while and enjoyed it. I had some guys I played online with often so I stuck with it up until like, two months after CS1 came out. Even in CT, though, I had trouble playing without getting tired of a character very quickly. I went from Bang to Ragna to Nu-13 and finally stuck with Litchi for a while but never really found my comfort zone. When I played CS1 Hazama actually felt really good and I was getting more into it, but by then most people I knew hardly played the game anymore and I just kinda lost interest. I could probably sit down and remember most of my combos and shit, but then again most of them probably don’t work anymore after the game’s gone through however many patches since CS1.
Someone set up BB at fight night last week and I almost got on it to see what I remembered but Rukus was too busy wooping my ass in Tetris Attack.
Gdbell can say all he wants but my rufus destroyed him and he will never ever come close to beating me in a ft5 ever!! And josh will destroy him all day and even kinetik is gonna beat his ass weds thats why more than likely he wont show up even after getting off work. No matter how much gdbell trolls he will always be the worst player here and that wont change. Even sunstone is a far better player than he is lol.
