There’s too many games and our scene is too small to contain them.
Why does it have to look like it was mocap’d by creatures with no experience being human? It freaks me out. Fatalities look like they are being performed on sacks of cream cheese wrapped in rice paper.
Wtf? When did Albuquerque ever start playing 2D fighters? I know Jeffery, Pi and Zal kinda play MvC2 and CvS2 on occasion but I didn’t know you guys grew a scene overnight! Crazy!

i personally will not take MK seriously, nothing against the game, its just not my cup of tea. I’m hoping it’ll bring some new blood out though. I am worried about the direction of the scene however, i too feel we’re being pulled in too many directions and have lost some of the focus we had back in the ran bats season 2 days. I think the time for a new Ran Bats is here, i’m down to run brackets and numbers, but we need to agree on some other things, first of all what games should we run? second of all how often? do we want to rank ABQ or all of nm/elp (or both), i think two things need to be accomplished, one we need to have a good season end prize, and two we need to build up the ammount of hardware we have for community use. Also i think the old weekly schedule was too hard too maintain so a bi weekly schedule would work best. Anyways does anybody else have any ranbat ideas or input?
Not sure how much my opinion counts I’d be down to do all the major 2D games for Ranbats (SF/MVC/MK) but what do we do for SF when AE comes out? Reset brackets or keep going? Not use AE (if possible)? Maybe wait a month to see if MK sticks around here…I dunno. I know I’ll be interested in doing it and can run that if no one else wants to do it.
T6 would be cool to do if people want to play it too.
Maybe for an end prize we could do a custom stick or something like that?
And of course my house is open on Fri/Sat afternoons/Sunday if you want to have them there either weekly or bi-weekly.
Perhaps we could split weeks? One week could be MK/SFand the next T6/MVC (or a different combo) and keep a rotation like that.
I like the idea of a weekly (or perhaps bi-weekly) ranbat. My two biggest concerns with abq ranbats were: its shitty location (the venue was fine, just too out of the way), and waking up before noon on a Sunday is completely foreign to me.
I would like to see them hosted at a more central location (i.e. Not on fucking Paseo…). The community as a whole should agree upon a day; which I’ve already given my two cents about.
AE so close would be painful to reset. Sat or Sun dont matter too much. I don’t know about location but I have gear. HDPVR, computers, ASUS monitors, LED projector, audio equips. What was the typical turnout?
we had usually about 12-20 on any given week, it thined out a bit at the end, but i think it had to do with it being every week, which is sort of a commitment

if we can have these at dylan’s house and therefore have no venue fee, how does everyone feel about 10 dollar entry fee? 4 dollars to the day of pot, 3 dollars to the big prize and 3 to the monitor/capture card/console/copies etc monies
Oh there’s a venue fee. It’s green but it isn’t money.

Oh and Xin, Zal has some vids of fights up on his YT account here and I figured you could favorite them on the NMFightHQ account and just keep doing that on uploaded NM fighting vids (if people will post them here or send them in a PM/comment to the NM account) to keep them all in one spot. Just an idea.

Sorta ungrateful if you ask me…that was a REALLY nice venue, that i doubt you could match. I challenge you to find something in a more central location, of the SAME quality(on a consistant weekly, or bi-weekly basis). The people who did provide the venue did so mostly out of their own pockets, since someone screwed it up initially by taking foreign food/drink, which pissed off the ownership. I pitched when i could, but to my understanding, the majority of the time it was only a couple of people actually securing the venue for us, while the rest of us just reaped the benefits.

I do like the bi-weekly idea though…the other was fun, but did get tiresome towards the end.

call us ungrateful or whatever, but the location did make it hard for some to attend, and further more some of us didn’t always feel welcome despite having spent money in said establishment, whatever, it doesn’t matter, dylan said he’d be up for this (you can back out at any time, none of us would hold it against you) and while he’s far away, he has tons of space, we can eat whatever food we want, drink and smoke as much as we can afford, and i always feel welcome, professional no, but we don’t need that, we need a place that is hospitable and cheap.
note, i am extremely grateful that those few stepped up to help the scene and secure the venue, but i don’t think events there are the way forward, if we could even get it back…
anyways keep the input coming, i’ll announce the dates later this month. We’ll have a set schedule and set ammount of events for the season.

Have you played the final game yet? I have been breaking it all day obsessively and have not found anything that tells me garbage. Allot of work went into this game for sure. By the way, the demo jab infinites no longer work.
