A little late, but wanted to give a big thanks to Knot and Slip for taking me to ABQ. We got our wires crossed or I think me and J would have added to SCV at the Ranbat. As it was, thanks Dylan and Micheal for hosting on that wicked TV. Was cool meeting Dylan and Mike, you’re still holdin it down.

Knot and Slip, sorry I didn’t make it for any casuals in Santa Fe, I just ran out of time between all the other visits I had to do. I guess games have taken quite the backseat in my life as I didn’t really feel any kind of competitive flame come back. But it was good to just chill out, hear you guys talk tournament talk, haha. You guys look like you’re doing fine. Montoya never checks here so I guess I’ll save that for somewhere else.

Too bad I missed out on some Mamba lessons. JC, sorry we didn’t get to connect either. Good to see Garrett. I told Montoya that your restaurant is officially on my stops when I come to NM from now on. That pulled pork was freakin awesome.

Keep doing what you’re doing NM. Oh yeah, SLASH, good to see you too bro. Next time I’ll make a day out of it.

Oh yeah, I found a North Dakota thread, woo hoo. Might be hope for me after all.

What’s up guys,

There has been an increase of local underground fighters emerging within the Las Vegas/Santa Fe community. All come from different backgrounds with intent on competing.

I am reaching out to more local/semi-local players in the NM area in hopes to fulfill a roster to compete at “Playerz” in Las Vegas, NM. The sign-up consists currently of 12 (committed) and 3 more tentative. If the commitment exceeds their projection, they have considered cancelling the current Madden tournaments etc. and replacing them with SFIV and/or other fighting games. The prizes are pretty promising and of course increase based on population. Depending on the turnout, they have intentions on expanding and continuing such events.

Please, if you’re in the local area etc., help us expand our community and if interested or want more info let me know; plus I’m seriously tired of Madden or NCAA tournaments lol.

King/A.King looks soooo brutal.

There are 5 regulars on Campus (Play Both); and there are about another 6 who are casual (That I know) who are MK9 regulars who do play casually when we meet; judging by the recent MK9 tournament (On campus) there was an attendance of about 19 after the first got cancelled (23 tentative) who also play.

I’ve been in contact with another 4 from Santa Fe who want to compete as there is no hosting there (except CS@MegaLAN).

That’s truly awesome, I had no idea there was a scene out there.

i know of thee solid players from santa fe. one of them plays marvel, the other two play street fighter. We have about 30-40 players out here in ABQ but only about 15-20 of them show up regularly. Do you guys have tournaments regularly? you should try and get the guys you play with to post here on SRK. we could have a pretty large scene if we can pool our efforts from las cruces to las vegas. there are also some players in farmington and gallup. I’ve heard rumors of players in Espanola and Taos but i’ve yet to meet any.

Anyways my name is Zach (They call me Zal cause there are two zach’s out here) and I’m the director of ABQ Ranbats, a bi-weekly Ranking Tournament series for Marvel, SFIV, KOF, and SCV. I also work with NM-ISM which is an organization dedicated to the whole NM fighting game community. Last year we had a marvel 3 tournament with a 1000 pot bonus and this year we will be doing the event again. (not sure about the prizes, but there will be bonuses) We had about 52 entrants last year, this year we’d like to get to a hundred.

As such I’d like to organize tournaments in northern and southern NM as well. I feel that if all of our communities pitch in, we can get some serious regional steam going here. Big events, big prizes, great competition, and more.

Quick question: It’s looking likely that there will be a new game leak by Friday. Would people still want to do a 2 game tourney as well as getting early play? Or maybe just a 1 game tourney…or just casuals and practice?

EDIT: Would probably just have one console with the new game, as a heads up.

Hey Zal, funny enough, I make a third Zach.

That’s awesome, I never knew that Albuquerque had so many; the ‘tournaments’ that we hold now are just friendly competitions with wagers of 5 dollar buy-ins or loser buys drinks sort of thing. A student here actually got me back into the fight scene, who’s now a good friend of mine. I haven’t competed since MKII days at the mall; anyways I’ll make sure to spread the word regarding accounts to keep in touch. An online community would be nice too, its just there really is no reliable connection out here (nothing faster than 1.5) but there is a MMM lobby now for the 2012 release for PC.

I did read about Ranbats which I’m quite intrested in; I know 2 others aside from myself that wouldn’t mind the trip up there maybe monthly or so; I’m trying to get this local venue/game store to allocate some time for tournaments as long as the numbers satisfy. They currently hold MW3 and Sports games, but are quite intrested in a fighting scene/tournament supplier. It would be like a monthly event. I started a list which of those willing to participate if the tournament approves (which it should) because of course, more players more winnings etc.

A statewide scene would be grea; would be nice to go to another event once the other finishes. We’ll figure out something and thanks for the info!

Dampierre being release as DLC means he’s now tourney legal. Get ready, suckas!

Also SC5 is $40 on Amazon for those that wanted to buy at a cheaper price.

truly awesome!

Sup ABQ, how are you guys liking SC5?

At Mamba: You’re still going to FR right? I probably won’t be able to afford to put any $$$$ in the Mamba Fund but i’d still like to play.

I need practice; UMvC3. Someone ABQ local hit me up we can play on PSN or at my/your place; doesn’t matter just tired of online and havin few people to no one to practice with. PS3 only though don’t have an Xbox/stick ain’t modded
PS: I’m new/bad, be patient and take some free wins nerds let’s do this.
To make it easier:
PSN: aarontehe
Mon/Wed: Anytime after 4 preferably after rush hours.
Tue/Thur: Anytime

I’d hit up Dylan’s on Fridays but I’m a student and work nights on the weekends. I’ll make it to one of the Fridays though and get my casuals practice in for sure though.
