I am kinda new to the whole NJ SF scence and trying to find a place where there is some Decent comp at. Every time I go to menlo and play the kids that are semi decent. They act kinda cocky towards people like they are way better than them or something, and half of them don’t even play. The only cool one was Kubon. Btw my name is James but you can call me Jb.

Why are you people talking about Menlo like it’s a good arcade? Has the place changed when it was taken over by new management? I doubt it. The only way to get proper moves out is if you play on a machine that the person working there plays, or if you’re just use to the horrible controls. Why don’t you just go to the Break or to Fun 'n Games, they have much better sticks compared to Menlo and games are cheaper. Don’t be a fool.

i live like 5 minutes from Menlo why I go there instead of The Break, too bad they closed today at 6pm, only got to play 2 games (against the computer :() then it closed up oh well.

For the most part, everything still applies, although I might actually get someone to play against the odd time that I’m there. Until they quit and leave after a dollar, that is. I haven’t been there in like a month or something, so I don’t know how it is right now. Controls are still iffy, but whatever. Can’t complain that much. It’s an arcade and there’s literally nothing else anywhere within reasonable range besides the Broken-down and you know how everyone loves to play there besides Thursdays. Place still needs another playable Capcom game besides mvc2, tho (Menlo, I mean). Prices still suck too, btw. I can’t ever understand MSH and other old stuff for anything more than 25 cents. If I knew anything about TTT, then I’d play that even though nobody’s good at that at Menlo either from what I’ve seen.
Basially, the place needs someone who cares to run it. Then maybe more people will care.
They do have Virtual On, so I might have to try that shit out if I feel the need to stop in some time soon. Good luck on that. :lol:

well i’m going to be in jersey jan 2nd thru the 10th along with another street fighter playing friend and would like to get some good gaming in, probably at the break but maybe fun and games WHO KNOWS. mostly looking to play cvs2 i guess but any game is good. mvc2 i’m super rusty at cause there hasn’t been a usable arcade machine in dallas for like 6 months now.
anyway i dunno if anyone in this thread remembers me but i used to play at the break and fun and games back like 2 years ago.

Not trying to say that The Break is better or anything, but I don’t understand the complaining that keeps coming out of you Alex. Any game you get beat on (at The Break) you complain that the sticks aren’t doing what you say they are supposed to. I’ve seen you holding the stick in one direction and complaining that you couldn’t get the move out, and that movement is in the opposite direction.
I just wanted to say that the sticks at The Break are not that bad. I’ve seen WORSE and Menlo is one of the places I’ve seen worse at. Not only that, but The Break is one of the few arcades with mostly fair prices on their stuff (A2 for 50 cents? WTF.) Granted, I know that the sticks on the MvC2 cabinet need to be replaced to something that’ll allow better airdashing and Tigerknee AHVB, but for the most part you get working equipment and, on Thursday nights, great competition across the board of Capcom fighters. It hurts me a little to constantly see these remarks posted left and right on the boards, when I feel that the allegations are far from true. Then again, it only takes one person to say “oh these sticks suck” at a tournament and then everyone gets HYPERcritical about the state of the sticks.
You should take Pete’s advice - arcades have different sticks everywhere, it’s up to you to adjust to them. I have heard several big name players saying that the sticks weren’t hot at Evolution and MWC. It’s all about adjusting because the sticks are never like the ones you play at home or your home arcade.
Just to sweeten the pot a bit, I am personally going to take out a good sum of my own money to pick up a few new sticks and buttons (when I have a few bills paid, and take care of a few other things) for the tournament machines at The Break. Like it was said in the teaser: “Experience ECC like you never thought possible.” That’s one of the many ways we plan on making ECC more enjoyable for everyone.
Who am I kidding. People will complain about sticks until the end of time. :lol:
Oh, and Alex, sorry for not getting back to you last night - there were a couple of serious things going on that need not be discussed here. Enjoy your day at the movies.
Now, to the next order of business - let’s get a post new year’s gathering together! My MAS is messed up (The stick only.) Can someone help fix it? I dunno why it won’t crouch block right sometimes…Or sometimes it somehow makes my character move right all by themselves.
