NEW Hori Fighting Stick VX (360) & V3 (PS3) Thread

no problem, it should be quite easy to replace the art, i will live with the chipped art though since I don’t care much about how beautiful they are

i wrap the cable around the joystick

does LS-56 octagonal gate works on stock VX/V3 stick by simple swap? or do I need to mod the stock mounting?

I’m a noob at modding, so what’s the easiest stick to drop into the VX? I just want a quick and easy replacement.Thanks.

JLF is easiest drop in with out the mounting plate though.

Ok, so how exactly do I go about dropping it in? Do I need to buy anything but the JLF?

If you look through this thread there are pics. You’ll need a dremel tool.

I think JLF drops easier with the mounting plate, just need to get 4 screws and screw the plate into position. but the shaft will scratche the bottom a bit. if you want to mount it without the plate, then you have drill 4 big holes on the JLF restrictor thing.

People have said that you need to remove the mounting plate in order to place a JLF in this stick.

I’m confused.

check this whole thread, you can leave it on or remove it. easy to drop in with plate, but you either have to thin the bottom panel or let the shaft scratches a bit. if you have drill tools, then drill the restrictor and using the existing hori screws will be a better way.

Ok after modding my V3 with a JLF and Sanwa buttons a month or so ago, I can tell you that you can mount the stick with the plate on. All you need to do is get some course sandpaper and sand about a 1-2 mm deep, 1x1 inch area on the bottom piece (right under where the JLF will be). Then all you have to do is splice the 4 wires from the JLF harness with 4 corresponding wire coming from the PCB. Remember to write down which wire goes to which direction before removing the old stick. Then splice the second red wire coming from the PCB with the black wire from the harness (this is the ground). Finally you need to screw in the mounting plate to the preexisting holes on the stick. You will need to buy four m4 x 9mm screws for this. M4 x 8mm screws will work also. There is a diagram on page 6 of this thread that shows which way to screw the plate in. Pretty simple and no power tools needed.

Oh alright. Just a few more questions: which Seimitsu sticks are easy fits for this case? And do I need to buy a 5 pin connector or not?

The JLF-TP-8Y-SK comes with the harness (connector), but I have no idea about the Seimitisu parts. I don’t know if those will fit into the case without heavy modding or not…

I mounted a Jlf with a link in my v3 today, and it worked fine. I didnt even have to mod the joystick or the case. I just used the mounting plate an the extra provided screw holes. No scrapeing either.

EDIT:

Picked up a HFSV3 from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $40. Sanwa modded it, and added a Link and a Neutrik. (I didn’t have to mod the case or JLF at all. I just used the extra supplied screw holes for the JLF and mounted it with the mounting plate on.)

Even with no grinding on the bottom panel, adding in a JLF with the mounting plate on the existing mounting holes nets you a stick that’s too short: the shaft should be exposed by 24mm, measured from the play surface to the bottom of the ball-top (ie, just up to the threads).

I put a JLF in mine too, and a Neutrik too.
The JLF was installed without the mounting plate (so I can get the correct mounting height), and I chose to slice down the main JLF body instead of drilling through the restrictor plate like some people prefer. The microswitch PCB still fits right over the screws, and I can swap out my restrictor plate without having to unscrew the entire unit.

My Neutrik was mounted in the corner; cut off the two strain relief posts, and covered up the original cable’s hole with a trimmed piece of styrene plastic, views from the inside and the outside (with countersunk mounting screws):

Guess its time to head back to the shop lol.

Nice work FreedomGundam, very clean. I’m modding my v3 very soon and I hope my results are half as good as yours, lol.

If you weren’t Canada, I would sex you.
You and I are like the only people who install the cool way.
Other people choose to go lazy and drill the Restrictor Gate for some reason.

Hey guys, Im thinking about getting this stick but im still on the fence about it. How heavy does the stick feel on your lap? Is it the same weight as the ex2 or more. After modding the buttons to sanwa, would the VX be just as good or last just as long as a TE? Lastly on a scale of one to ten how hard is it to put custom artwork on the stick and what are the steps to do so? Thanks in advance

Good job with the neutrik mounting, almost the same way I did mine a few pages back :3
Used some plastic metal and sanded the nub away to have a smooth face though. Now with some spare time, gonna repaint the entire casing
