New Home Brew Game: SMM V2 (Saturday Mornin Mayhem)

Well, some characters have so many moves because of the scope of their universe, like Popeye who?s been around about 75 years. I basically try and capture all that creativity so the characters feel authentic.

But the key is to stress some moves over others. Over time people will only use the useful moves and ignore or sporadically use the less practical ones.

The one button design is basically a SMM feature that gives the character more freedom of choice and control over range, length, and strength of some moves.

An example would be doing a dragon punch motion and holding down the button for range which gives greater choice instead of say 3 parametered ranges (jab,strong,fierce), but is still punishable in the same fashion.

And as for Mickey. As long as the combo contains the fly spell your opponent should think to move out of range if hit. I’m thinking as long as they still have some control (8-way movement too), the length of the damage should be in their hands.

Some moves will have some crazy results, but they all took a lot of time and thought to create and should serve some purpose, some of at least. I tried to give all the characters a fighting chance even though they all play completely different. Basically, I wanted to stray away from what people are used to and sometimes are tired of seeing in fighters.

If you want to learn the stories just go through arcade mode and watch all the cinemas, they should explain quite a bit about the characters reasons for fighting.

Finally, you?re right about the patches. I do need to find the fastest way to update without the re-download. I?ll work on that soon. Thanks a lot Lolerskates.

SMM has finally went Tournament Edition!

Is there a airtech or ground teching system because if not, Mickey can constantly juggle people with magic mushrooms.

Yes, that would be light and strong punches to air recover, left or right on ground to roll (small invincibility). Also T.E. V2 has some infinite arresting code just incase a ‘non air combo’ repeatable chain is found.

Thanks for checking out the latest build peeps, was waiting for reports of seriously broken mechanics to fix before re-introducing SMM to the SRK community.

Has anyone tried out SMM V2 and found any major problems with it? I know SloshedMail found some issues that can be tackled quickly.

I’d like the game to be at a level were peeps can get to the meat of it (lots of hidden goodies) and not worry about some minor cheap exploits.
