Capcom made some connections with SNK doing the CvS and SvC games.
Capcom was making a connection with Sammy in making Sammy vs. Capcom.
Sammy vs. Capcom was in production for a while, and then was quietly canned.
Somewhere in there, Capcom was secretly making deals with Namco, and announced Namco x Capcom shortly after, when it was near completion.
…so why did Sammy vs. Capcom get cancelled?
Why, to make Capcom vs. SNK vs. Namco vs. SEGA/Sammy, of course!

according to a japanese (reliable) news site i visit this game will NOT be a fighter but an ACTION game… the name powerstone was cited as one possibility (or rather what the site admin hopes for).

Personally, I don’t mind if it’s either Powerstone 3, Rival Schools 3 or SFIV. I’d much prefer SFIV though. It’s taking an age to come out and some of us might die by the time it does, so the earlier the better. Then again, I’d rather wait patiently for a decent game than some random things thrown together that even Mugen users can exceed coughCFJcough

**i personally think it’s kind of sad how everyone sits around wait for capcom to drop a new game, when snk has countinued to give me fun games to play through out the years. granted they aren’t the best games ever made but they continue to deliever. the kof series alone has came out continuously each years since its birth. and now we have what kof XI, ngbc, and samuri showdown 5. even sammy has countinued the stream of gg games the past few years, where it be a simple upgrade or a new 4 player concept.
in all honest capcom needs to step their game up! cfj wasn’t good enough and allstars was crap!

This actually wouldn’t be a bad idea. I would make it an action/wrestling hybrid a la that Ultimate MUSCLE game and put it on the PSP though.
And the new arcade game will probably be a Gundam game or something.

Anyway in the new Gameinformer magazine it says that xbox 360 gets exclusive rights to develop and publish MMO titles based on Marvel comic’s superheroes and Majesco is planning to put out a Ghost Rider title to release with the movie. So EA supossedly has the rights to Marvel but activision is still doing X-men Legends 2 and now this?
I dont see why Capcom wouldn’t be able to reach an agreement to make another fighter.
