NEW "Blazblue Continum: Shift" discussion!

Just copped CS yesterday an I already see myself improving. Ragna is my best thus far but I’m getting better with Hazama. His timing is whoa and I need to perfect the coils. Carl and Jin (who I mained in CT) and I’m working on my execution skills with these 4

Ragna is extremely easy. I picked him by accident and almost won just by spamming randomness,. The other 3 you chose sound a bit harder, especially Carl (who I’ve never played). I need to pick up Jin as well but just too lazy.

The levels in this game are weird. I have no idea how some people reach 30 if all they do is spam ONE move. Beat this Ragna that just did that Gauntlet move over and over and then got mad at me for winning.

Ragna is very easy at first, he gets a bit trickier later on but in general he is by far the easiest character to play and also one of the best.

Jin is surprisingly tough, because a lot of his stuff is situational and takes good spacing assuming you’re not just spamming ice cars. Carl is one of the hardest to play because he’s so weird, you need to know exactly how to work Nirvana to do well with him. Hazama is surprisingly simple once you get the muscle memory on his Drive combos (6D~A 6D~A 6D~D jCCCCC etc.), but that takes solid practice and he needs to change things up based on spacing (214D~C dash 5C or 5C 2C depending on distance, things like that).

Yea Ragna is super easy but I try not to spam and always mix it up. EXCEPT ON TAFERS :annoy: Carl’s learning curve is steep controlling Nivarna is harder than Dio or Zong makes it seem. I just have dreams on doing Buppa shit with Hazama. I’m practicing his BnBs but it’s stressful.

I got the 5B 3C 214D 5C 5C jc CCCCCCC J CCCCCC 214 B (I think) down pact so progress

Levels are still experience based. They have a skill rating in there too now.

Crescent Saber loop is killing me. Chain and special cancels outprioritizing jump startup screws me up so much.

Crescent Saber loop is rage. Sometimes I get 4-5 reps, sometimes I get…Spike Chaser. Always.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…

It’s not a rumor; it’s confirmed. There will be a balance patch about 6 months down the line (so January, since the game came out July 1 in Japan).

Seriously though, Tsubaki is awful. Even her Unlimited form is lackluster - it’s not like she gains the ability to do safe blockstrings

I thought some of those charge moves were safe? I don’t play her so I don’t know.

Had some good matches today against some Tagers and a ton of Ragnas. Seems every time they see my Kune on the screen they have to choose Ragna. I’m actually a lot better against them because of that though but I still have yet to play really good Bangs and Litchis so I get whooped by a decent one when I come across them.

Most of her charge specials are safe, yes, but that requires her to have a charge. She has no reliable and safe way to gain charge, so it’s generally a waste to use charges in blockstrings.
I was talking about her mid-blockstring normals whiffing randomly, not about her general lack of safe enders anyways

Yeah, Tsubaki’s normals have terrible frame advantage as well. They barely combo on hit (I have to mash them or I’ll miss), so instant block seriously screws her.

I just played a >100 PSR Tsubaki who is basically the equivalent of a CT Jin player. Full screen 236 moves all day, combos always ending on 214A instead of 22C, etc. Ice cars were easier to sword spam out of the air though-236B has projectile invulnerability even. Tons of random supers as well. The bigtime scrubs seem to go for her and Noel instead of Jin and Noel now.

I had this game for a few days. I am going to bitch about a few things though. I trying to main Makoto and Tager. I hate Ragna with a passion. I hate Hazama players. Then next I hate Litchi. Everyone else is cool. Hazama players play like street fighter 4 ken and ryu. Stay in the corner and spam D. Go on the other side and spam all damn day.

This statements makes me question if you’ve ever played SF4 or BB ever, scrubtatsic comment at its finest.

Surprised Kune isn’t on your list as I find it easier and easier to beat Tager now. Haven’t lost to one in a while and you have to have some awesome grab mixups to catch me as I teleport away if they get too close.

I still don’t have Makoto, so that’s holding me back a little. I main Tager right now until Valkenhayn comes out, and if I like him, I’ll drop Tager for him. Until then, I’m looking for a new character to play, and I want to play/learn Makoto, but I like the microsoft points.

;_;

I always thought that Tsubaki was the noob friendly character now…Every Noel I have seen so far always spam their drive attacks like in CT…

I’ve fought ONE Noel who had enough sense to at least mix up the D spam. I can’t say she did a single D attack more than once in a round. Came really close to winning too, because I couldn’t go on autopilot and punish everything.

Most likely because Arakune has like the third or fourth most difficult execution in the game, and 95%+ of online players couldn’t execute a combo for more than 4k damage in curse if their life depended on it without doing it by accident. Every Arakune I’ve played online outside of 1 or 2 is pathetically easy to predict and just block/barrier through the curse duration, punishing any stupid shit they do. Not to mention most of them don’t even get curse up because they don’t understand how important Kune’s aerials are, and many just spam D all day.

ha, maybe. I haven’t played too many Kunes and probably only 1 was decent out of the people I did play against. We should get some matches going some time as you’re on Live as well. I can do fairly well against every character with the exception of Lamda, oh how I despise Lambda. I looked for some match vids against her and even top player Kunes have a lot of difficulty against her so at least I’m not the only one.

I’ve been meaning to pick up another character (dropped a few) but every time I do my Kune suffers and meh, I like Kune more.

I just remember 1 combo that mixes up normals with D and it really gets alot of people.

Really? I’ve only played one 'kune online and… he got curse maybe… ten seconds in and then I was suddenly dead.

Course I’m also awful >.>

Oh, and on that note… Mu is my favorite MM ever now.
