There’s no way it was intentional. I seriously doubt Sirlin made this change and chose not to tell anyone about it.

Can you get a video up of you testing pasky, and in the same situation? maybe it only works on gief when you are on the 2 player side.

T akiba and rufus have 5/3 frames respectively, so it is probably 4, since akiba is known to be off by 1.

so 4/8/5, hits on 5th frame, 17 frames of hitstun (plus 1 because of first hit), so it is plus 5? Seems possible

I’ve tested this several times in ST using frame advancing without frameskip (vs gief) and it’ll never work. I haven’t tried in HDR.

I’ll try on 2P side, ryu stage to remove any variables I guess.

I know the haters love to hate on Sirlin, but give the guy some props. He gave us probably the largest, most detailed change-list for a fighting game ever: http://www.sirlin.net/sf

He goes over some of the most minor of minutiae in there. Couple that with him using the Bison cr.MKx2 example in his really nice ST tutorial videos it doesn’t seem like something he would gloss over.

it works on both sides, i did it from the player 1 side before i started video taping it. zangief is the only one i tested it on, i have no idea if you can do it on any other character, i never play the classic mode, so if he says it doesnt work on classic mode im sure it doesnt

It might only work on zangief, I tried vs ken and could never ever get it, but vs gief it seems totally doable

Granted, this was in practice mode. I don’t think the timing is easy online.

I can confirm Dictator’s cr Forward x2 works on almost every character except Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Dee Jay and Claw (I’m surprised it worked on Cammy). I just tried it in practice mode offline, speed 3.

The timing is a little difficult at first but surprisingly easy once you get used to it. It’s about the same timing as Claw’s cr Forward x2, maybe a tiny bit slower. 1P/2P side doesn’t matter, stage doesn’t matter, I tried it on various stages and both sides, it works. It has to ABSOLUTELY be point blank range tho. Even a few pixels less and it will whiff on everybody except for Zangief. It will work on Gief from just outside point blank.

I tried it in combos and after crossups on Gief, doesn’t work. I had Gief in the corner but just a little bit outside of it, did crossup Forward, cr Forward x2, doesn’t seem to work at all.

I’m shocked. Cuz I know this combo doesn’t work in ST. But just to double check I tried in Classic mode on Zangief, and it definitely doesn’t work. However the timing seems the same as HDR, so I don’t think it was Dictator’s frame data that was changed for HDR.

This leads me to believe that it’s the hitstun data that was changed (possibly by 1 frame, 17 from ST’s 16 frames). I can’t be certain of that of course, but I would be willing to bet money it’s the hitstun that is different.

Good job Swole T and RenoMD. Too bad it doesn’t seem to work after crossups, cuz there’s enough charge time to add on Scissor which equals guaranteed dizzy 100% of the time. :frowning:

blitzfu, your right about having to be right next to zangief for it to work, i think thats why it doesnt work in cross ups or jumping in combos, cause the other character gets pushed too far away from you. I dont really know much about frames but i agree with you that i think the link is possible because of how long zangief is stunned for after the first hit. It seems like you have to execute the second hit on one of the last frames if not the last frame before zangief recovers from the first hit.

Timing on the x2 Cr forward seems easy, feels like a 2 frame link. I also can’t get it to connect after a crossup J. Roundhouse. It seems like its a bug with the hitstun.

I can do it on gief without being point blank (slightly further away). It appears it doesnt work on gief from far away because he moves further back and the hitbox on the 2nd cr forward will whiff his standing animation but his blocking hurtbox moves forward a bit which is why it’ll show him blocking the 2nd one if you’re too far. If you turn auto blocking off and try the same far distance it’ll whiff, so it’s just the block animation hurtbox that pushes gief closer.

I think it doesn’t work on shoto types and claw is because when they get hit their hurtboxes move farther back than most other chars. That’s why shit works on sim/guile/fei that doesn’t work on shotos even though their hurtboxes are relatively the same size

this combo works on all char. i believe. i figured this move out on cammy ways ago. you have to be as close as possible on first cr. midle kick and shud always comb

No, thats incorrect:

Basically the first hit has n extra frame to combo, so if the first hit being crouching mk, gives u time enough to link a second cr. mk, in a cross up, the air attack gets that extra frame to combo, the cr. mk no longer has that frame so the next cr. mk wont connect

a simple example is Ryu’s cr. lk xx fb, or Ryu’s cr. lk xx tatsu combos, if u do an air attack as xup, only cr. lk will combo with it but the xx fb or xxtatsu wont ever combo

If its a 2 frame link then u can combo it after a xup, but if u cant, then its not a 2 frames link
