When I said I would be out there, I meant like maybe 5 dollars a month. :3
Melty Blood and Arcana Heart are absolute shit. I would even venture to say they are the ‘corn’ kernels of the fighting game shit. You could not pay people to play that garbage.
It’s painfully obvious at this point you have no clue what you are doing. Please stop, save your money, and when the time is right maybe someone who has a clue will allow you to contribute in a meaningful way.
I am confused. Melty Blood and Arcana Heart 2 (lol kinda) are out on PS2?
The problem with opening arcades now, AS SWEET AS ARCADES TEND TO BE, driving somewhere and paying money for games i already have is kinda a waste. this isn’t really just a personal opinion, I would say it persists for anyone that would be interested in going.
A whopping 4 games are coming out in the next year: Project Cerberus (lol doujin robot warriors), Arcana Heart 3 (lol arcana heart), BlazBlue + 2 dudes (lol 2 dudes) and Monster AC (LOlolololol furry kombat doujin warriors).
New Tekken, New SF4, Real New BlazBlue and KoFXIII MIGHT come out before you run out of money, but you’re going to have to buy all those old games in the meantime. And those still aren’t getting any cheaper; have fun, SF4 without console characters for $5k a setup without Viewlix cabs! Tekken 6 BR about the same… or more! at least daemon bride is only like 2000 or so DUDE LETS GO
In conclusion, I’d wait for more concrete evidence that new games will be out by the time you open doors. You don’t want to be in a position where you pay for all your equipment and then get boned by the only new games available are some doujin garbage and basarax 2, or SURPRISE TAITO TYPE X3 REQUIRED FOR NEW GAMES! I would also expect a slow rollin’ of 1-2 blazblue characters a year for the next 2 years, and as wild as that sounds, UNINTERESTING.
As for their pipe dream…guys, just let them try…it’s their money they’re wasting. They don’t seem to care about flushing money down the toilet, so who are we to judge?
Fight Club and HoG are practically arcades without the payment. Go figure, right? Practically free, and yet still a social gathering with great competition? Hmmmm…sounds pretty successful IMO. :wonder:
I suggest the OP to just use whatever money they have now and buy a nice entertainment center and host games.
I agree that it’s a free forum, but it’s like we had mention. This thread was to see if this was a reality would it be a good thing for others!? By no stretch of the imagination would I just throw money down the drain, espically in this time and age! But I do agree with the FightClub idea since I had met the guy hosting it! Ex and I are going to attend it as well, so if they’re any questions are sparking your interest ask us at the event please!
Deep Ellum = Overrun with crime & dead.
Lower Greenville = Crime increasing, slowly dying.
“M” streets = too expensive.
Mockingbird station would be a kick ass location but rent would be stupid high. Even though it takes 5-10 mins to make that left turn on a Fri or Sat night, it’s not the proper clientele for an arcade.
If the Angelika, Inwood and Magnolia can survive so can an arcade.
Addison would be a good location but high rent.
Around the Lakewood area in Mesquite would be a great location and rent would be reasonable.
If the Bishop Arts district in Oak Cliff picks up more (it’s grown a lot in the past year), it would be a great location with very cheap rent.
I think instead of putting an arcade inbetween Dallas and Ft. Worth, you gotta pick one or the other. Addison, Arlington are feasible but general mid-cities is a dead zone.
You know what’s funny is if we keep updating this people will just hate on it, keeping ya’ll in the dark will have a better effect! Yeah I should close this thread anyway, but at Fight Club; Kent and I are going over somethings. And how are you sure this will not happen? Rome was not built over night! This takes time and planning, so no more negativity please?
Or you can be transparent and let the public know the process that goes down. It’s better for the community, gives the public peace of mind, and prevents possible shadiness.
Yeah I can and respect that, right now we have ran into a stump but recently picked up some more partners. So right now I can’t offer any info until saturday, but keep in touch. Ohh and I will be deleting this thread due to some salty people, “Farm”. So add me to friends or what not, but thanks for all the help most people presented!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not salty by any means. I met you at fight club and you’re a cool guy, but Imma call it as I see it, just like I would to anyone else I know.
Being on this site for almost a decade and all I figured I’d put my 2 cents in.
Don’t get too offended by these people. Its the nature of online personalities. Rash and rude. However they aren’t completely wrong in saying that it probably wouldn’t work out too well for you guys. You say that your not trying to make money but that alone will make it not work. No one in their right mind will work a secondary job to support another one. Makes no sense. Why give up a life? That being said I’ll restate something that was already mentioned or somewhat mentioned or along the lines of being mentioned. Back then a big part of going to the arcades as a fighting gamer was for competition. After the good and bad players were set apart and teh tiers were established alot of the casual players stopped coming around and the players that were good happened to become friends and get together to play more often. When you want to practice something would you want to pop quarters in each play? We used to travel to different spots to “challenge” different clicks. As I said earlier the hardcore of each group gradually started playing with each other. The others stuck to their own little spot or gameworks to collect win streaks on scrubs. Animation Town was great but then it started becoming “ugh why go there to play those guys? lets go to my place and just play each other”
Realistically speaking I’d only support it maybe an hour a week. Unless there was some hella hot shit goin on and I think everyone else around here thats on the forum would do less than that. We’re hella old now so there are way more things we have to do or would rather do. If you average maybe 30 or us that would support about an hour minimum playing time would you guys be able to sustain?
The serious players will only show up every once in awhile to see if any newcomers have potential. Or to collect wins and feel good bout themselves.
But it could work out if you just target casual traffic and just gave a couple games for the hardcore or hardcore to be. I would say aim for something around Montgomery Square. That place is hella poppin right now. Also its somewhat close to a high school and off the highway. They have Dukes, Buffalo Wild Wings, and this sushi place. I don’t think your arcade would work out unless its around something most people go to get chicks or something. I mean isn’t the location you guys are talkin about close to a Putt Putt off 820? Aim for Euless something off 183 and close to 360. If you guys were ever gonna try and have a big tourney it would be close to the airport as well.
Eh this is all I feel like typing, If I see you guys at fight club friday I’ll explain a little bout the history of the scene and what not and what could have possibly been done. To Roger’s credit tho his spots ended up becoming dead malls. ALL THREE of them. NO wait FOUR. I think if you could afford it Galleria probably would be ideal but even then that wouldn’t make sense. The demographic there isn’t too young.
I will retract my opinion on that, it’s like I told Bracken from Fight Club I really enjoyed your company at FC. I just hate Negativity and can’t handle it very well, but I apologise for it. I will admit that the more work we did on opening this place, the less likely it was going to happen! We got admirably far for our age and limit on time and resources!
We just weren’t getting the moral support that I felt we were due to how many people wanted this! I see it’s a debatible thing, if you’re at Fight Club and have any input please sit and talk with us, because of the slow pace Kent actually is interest in this idea; so let’s hope for the best!
Sorry for double posting, but please if you have any input sit with us and give us the details! If we are in any hopes of doing this we would like all the help and back up we can get, so if you’re there just ask for Josh “Fresh”. I’m the little guy with the fro and glasses who records the fights for the channel.
hay that arcade thing is a horriable idea! with that said ill sell ya all my cabs fo cheap. my game tag is autobotclown on xbox so all u guys add me so I can giv ya sum spds like n the old country. playn a lot of motw an fantasy battle wit sf4 an kof. so add me. tell kingdom to eat my hole
Anyone know what that place that is called “Arcade” is on N. Beach in Fort Worth? I see it everyday but never bothered to stop and check it out. It is located inside some warehouse looking buildings. It is less than 5 minutes from both me and Kent. There is also some place where you can learn archery right next to it.
Based on Google, it is either a place to play arcade games or a place to fix arcade type stuff. So meh
