To be honest, even though I’ve liked some of the new fighters and some of the things they’ve introduced, it’s quite understandable where players who don’t are coming from. In general, yeah, most of what comes out these days has not only chains that tend to be too loose among the entire roster (making for very mash-friendly combos, regardless of the execution required), but one too many sub-systems as well. If anything, it’s largely gotten to the point where fights are so frantic that people become desensitized to being able to judge anything that goes on as actually being impressive anymore.
Either way, I’m hoping whatever this new game is winds up being closer to a balance between the more methodical gameplay of older titles and the more offense-oriented titles of today (as long as it doesn’t involve either air blocking or air recoveries, with air dashing and air combos possibly relegated to some sort of sub-system that alters the gameplay flow only temporarily). There are enough hyper fighters out right now as it is, so there wouldn’t be much of a point of introducing yet another one.

I can understand where people have issues with the Guilty Gear type games. SS Tenka is the only recent fighter that’s had somewhat of an old-school style to it - I love the game to death, but sadly it’s never had much of a scene.
It’s just difficult for a game based on ST principles to be interesting to most gamers in this day and age.

Seeing as they are saying “an original Capcom 2D fighting game”, I believe this will be a new IP instead of a sequel or based on any currently existing characters.
Though Sammy VS Capcom would be nice.

Yes Morrigan has TWO new sprites in Namco x Capcom. And she has a new sprite in Gunbird 2 also. Won’t do anything from making people stopping the Morrigan sprite joke, despite the fact that everyone knows about her Puzzle Fighter / Pocket Fighter sprite and there was a bunch of stuff added to her MVC1 sprite making her 1/2 Lilith not to mention Liligan of MVC1. And yet she has another sprite in SVC MOTM on the Neo Geo Pocket so no no conspiracy about SNK not giving her a sprite in SVC Chaos, they already did in a previous game. Ohs well. I’m sure when she gets ANOTHER sprite in a fighting game (if that ever happens) people will find a way to make the sprite joke yet again. Rikuo/Aulbath has one sprite. Sasquatch only has one sprite. Morrigan does not. Eh it’s like talking to a brick wall…

I would love to see a CFJ2, but I’m not holding my breath for it.
At this point, I really don’t mind what they come up with,
I’m just excited that they’re releasing another 2D fighting game.
Whatever it is, I just hope it gets released in the states.

i read an interview with SNK in which they were asked about releasing original games and they replied saying they do not make enough . Which is true all the kids will be buying Dead or Alive 5 not 2D snk vs capcom 3

I think people (myself included) have only propagated the joke based on games that’re actually played. With the exception of MvC1 (she still looks horrible), nothing in that list has any kind of community.
If they put work into her MvC1 sprite, that’s just extra sad, because it looks awful as always.
I’m sure 99% of the joke comes from CvS2 where she’s literally the ugliest thing on the cabinet by far…and some of the sprites are baaad.
All of you holding out hope that it’s SF4, you can do whatever you want, but don’t hold your breath. They’ve gone out of their way to say it’s original work. To me, the fact that they went through the trouble of using the word “original” is just so people don’t even get the idea of SF4 into their heads, because they’re not doing it.
I would love Capcom vs. DC!
