No EA has the Marvel fighting game rights until 2009… like someone said they are working on Marvel Nemesis 2.

People who think Capcom’s ever gonna make an MvC3 sicken me and make me pity them at the same time. IT’S OVER, DONE. YOU WILL NEVER SEE A NEW MVC GAME AGAIN. EA HAS FUCKED YOU ALL OVER BY BUYING THE RIGHTS.
That said, I wonder what this new game’s gonna be. It would suck if it was Capcom Fighting Jam 2, but wouldn’t be unexpected. Rehashed sprites for the fifty-millionth time!

I think the best case scenario here is that they’re not dipping into ANY of their backlog of games. Start something new…start something fresh. They’re not the same company they were years ago when they were releasing 2d titles constantly. They shouldn’t try to re-live those days. A new, from-scratch, 2d fighter from an industry juggernaut could be exactly what this genre needs to shake the cobwebs out of it.
MvC3 will not happen.
CFJ2 seems possible, but not something people will take notice off, since the first one was such a snooze. That, and the little placeholder website would be full of SF references if it had ANYTHING to do with the franchise.

Actually I have faith they could make something decent out of CFJ… Sure the first game sucked, but so did other first titles in there series’. If they actually put some time into it and gave it a groove system, instead of restricting the characters to their washed out systems, then they may have something. However I can’t see it happening, as it’s hardly an origional title…
Also, wouldn’t the fact that they said “origional” 2D fighter rule out it being based on Sengoku Basara?

I dont care what it is. Capcom is drawing new sprites and working with Arksys to make a new game!?! I dont give a fuck what it is I’m sold. I think they are answering this uprising of Doujin Games, and in any case its a NEW 2D game. Its a good year to be a fighting game fan indeed.
based on the way the site is, it has to be something that people want right? why hype up some bullshit? Since MvC3 not an option what could it be that they would hype up?

People bitch about 3S all the time and I’ll still play it, why care about everyone elses opinion about a game if you like it? Also, there’s the simple fact that for the last few years Capcom has fucking SHOVING SF shit down our throats. It would be nice to know that they would finish off all these anniversary packs and shit like that with SF4. Honestly though, I don’t think that Capcom loves us that much. :sad:

Even though I was in jest when I suggested CFJ2, the truth is that CFJ was better than Alpha 1, SF1, the first Darkstalkers, SF3:NG, Star Gladiator, and DEBATABLY CvS1.
We should all know it takes Capcom til’ the 2nd or 3rd stab at a series to really NAIL a game. As such, people should look forward to CFJ2 since if you have faith at all left in Capcom, you should have faith in their ability to do a sequel.
More than likely though, it’ll be button-mashing anime trash, or a poor GG clone, or something to do with Sengoku Basara since those are what’s selling to the *casual *Japanese gamer and SF and CFJ are not.
Hell would freeze over if it was SF4, but I’d be happy.
Then again it’s not like we haven’t seen Satan in ice skates before…Square makes games for Nintendo again.

Considering that this game is being developed by Arc System Works, I’m surprised that no one has speculated that the new game would be Guilty Gear vs. Street Fighter or Guilty Gear vs. Capcom.
Maybe because none of the new games have looked good to OG players and don’t look like they will.
Personally, I haven’t seen a game since CFJ come out that wasn’t a chain combo fueled overcomplex Guilty Gear clone, besides KOF which is moving that direction anyway. Hyper offensive games just don’t appeal to me, and probably don’t to a lot of other SRK players.
I thought CFJ was a great idea, just bad execution. The warzard characters had no business being in a serious fighting game, Anakaris looked incredibly broken, and the shit was a complete turtle fest when it first came out. I’d appreciate a CFJII with bigger cast and better testing.
Someone already said Sammy vs Capcom. We’ve been hearing about Sammy vs Capcom for quite some time now actually, so it wouldn’t be surprising at all if this was a new VS game. It’d be wicked if they got SNKp involved also and made an all out brawl of SNK, Sammy, and Capcom. I feel stupider for even hoping something so awesome.
But still, something deep inside yearns for SF4.
(btw, I have this bad feeling it is going to not only be Sengoku or something equally gay, but it’s not even going to hit the North America)

Indeed. It’s also, like I said, probably Capcom’s singular hottest and newest commodity in Japan. So, if a game were to be based off of it, I wouldn’t at all be surprised. And I, for one, wouldn’t be at all opposed to it.
I mean, Capcom’s in the business of making money, first and foremost. If they really cared about catering to everything that their fans could want, we probably would have had a Mega Man 9, Street Fighter 4 and all other sorts of fanboy fantasies come to life years ago. But they ain’t, and so that’s why things are the way they are.
When EA was mentioned in this thread, the first thing to pop in my head was Madden vs. Capcom.
