@d3v Wouldn’t those experince be due to more of an unstable network than delay settings? While I question SxT/3s version other form of roll back was none issue for me.
@aznspyderman reason games like Tekken and Guiltygear seem good to you may be to you being use to delay settings, Also those netcode basically slow down inputs and action when connection is bad so those game still seem “smooth” but not playing at its usual speed, while Rollback will frame skip or all intent cause “teleports”.
While roll back is generally superior it need to be implemented in the game with some care and not just Added in. I suspect user aznspyderman been using console version of these with GGPO function which bye pas critical step in dealing with roll back netcode. You have to have a appropriate network set up in order to get the best experince out of roll back netcode.
While (ggpo) was godly and been out for ages, the reason it never got extremely popular was because majority of people could’t get beyond its mandatory “port” opening/forwarding. Which most console version of ggpo attempt to bye pass with abysmal result.
In the end as I always said. No amount of good netcoding is going to fix poor network set up.
Considering you are behind a router, and what type of service your internet providing. it come as little surprise your experince this. You solution is able to be hard wired into the modem or configure your router to port forward ( dmz mode can be considered but their some heighten risk to be considered if not managed with scrutiny).
PS3 and PC are not one and the same. even how they operate is different.
Ps3 OS> Game > Rollback
PC OS> Roll back Client > Emulation/game client.
you do realize these two are very different extremes?
most time the company provided router is insufficient since most limit edit settings or disable it altogether,
Unfortunately, there’s not much I can do about that in my current situation. I’ll just deal with it, as the games I play online NOW are just Guilty and Tekken.
Thanks for the info though. Gives me stuff to keep in mind when I’m setting up a new place after wifey graduates.
