Net code discussion. Rollback confirmed!

Sounds like PC has more consistent issues. The game plays perfect for me on PS4. I’ve probably had about 2 laggy games out 100.

Why does this happen? Do players comprehend what 1 bar connection means? Whats wrong with so many players today?!

The guy against me right now I can tell he gets the smooth experience because he can manage to land full combos and do what he wants whilst I struggle with basic footsies because of the ridiculous teleporting.

More than likley he didn’t see your flag or your connection. With no filters and the search function seemingly showing you only a handful of flags or bars, there’s no way to know who you’re joining.

The only way I’ve made a work around with this is to favourite every person from my country in Ranked, then when I go to battle mode make it private and start inviting the names on my list through the sub menu ( triangle on PS4)

I haven’t had anyone join yet…but the theory is sound lol

Battle lounges seems broken, since its not region locked. The best mode i’ve found is turning fight requests on and setting the connection status to 4-5 bars, i get good matches then with people in my own region.

It sucks that there isn’t even a message system. What are the chances that the players in the rival favorites going to accept a random invitation from someone in ranked? There isn’t even a proper UI system to read the notifications readily, because someone like me will easily be focused on something else or afk, and just completely ignore it because online is already wasting so much of the time. Why should it waste more time to jump back into the menu and then go to notifications (and in some cases another button to sort into rival notifications) just to join an endless lobby when this could simply be handled through an in-game UI system?

Also… why would they call a friend list of players “rival favorites”?? It sounded like a following system at first. Is it so hard to just call it “friend list” and “add to friend list”?

Lag has to be balanced in some way. It’s insane to think there will be no lag at all when thinking about netplay, but the way it is now makes it so damn skewed. My friend says these are the best matches ever, while I am dealing with cammy walking forward and then suddenly being mid dive kick infront of me. Somehow split the lag between players or something, this lopsided lag just makes it a terrible experience. Especially considering it seems to punish the person with better internet!

This game has a huge focus on short hitconfirms, there are so many times that I see the cr mk hit so I cancel into legs --> super, then the game suddenly rolls back and it turns out It was blocked : (.

The whole experience is bollocks for sure but I guess we just have to deal with it til they patch it. It’s probably the most convoluted online experience I’ve had in any game, but seemingly without good reason. Having to try 15 different things to get a game…

Yeah , they fucked it big time. Should have dumped cross play, I’ve a feeling that’s the culprit.

I keep telling y’all…no matter where you live in the world, the battle lounge treats your system as if you’re in JPN
I have resorted to just playing Casual Matches since rank/casual sends me players actually in my area

This netcode sucks balls. Big hairy dirty balls that have been dunked in gasoline and have been lit on fire, but the hair on the balls is still present even while engulfed in flame. Trying to play with friends in Battle Lounge is a joke. The match starts fine but as we lose life it starts lagging. Can anyone even fucking explain that? When I fight the same people on GGPO, it’s flawless as if they’re sitting here next to me playing offline. Capcom really wants to host pro tour events on this garbage? I mean, what the fuck were they doing during all those beta tests? Oh right, censoring R. Mika’s ass. Sorry I FUCKING FORGOT

One of the quickest solutions would be to have your flag CHOSEN FOR YOU based on where you live, and show your flag next to the connection quality when asking if you want to play that person. Letting people choose their own flags is the dumbest shit i have ever heard of. Half the online population uses the Japan flag.

Working mostly fine for me. Only playing battle lounge, only joining / accepting 4 or 5 bars connections, got a decent influx of players for longer sets, runbacks, no rage quitters.

Working great for me. I’ve got really good internet though…

USFIV never felt this responsive.

I’m a big fan of when matches mysteriously start at 30FPS until the end of the first round. It’s like playing a Zack Snyder movie, but with a better plot.

Can’t create BLs today

And I ran a speedtest from NC to CA and I’m at 175 Down 20 Up 105 MS

Yea that has been happening to me quite frequently, at least 1 in five games will start with a terrible fps first round. I have noticed this almost always happens on india / london stage, this could just be coincidence though, but now i avoid those stages like the fucking plague.

Definitely sounds like a lot of issues are PC related. I only play on PS4 ATM even though I also bought the PC version.

I’ve never sworn at my TV so much. 99% of my matches lag a lot at some point. And it’s always when the pace starts to get more intense, breaking all momentum. Messed up with my router, plugged via Ethernet, etc. Nothing can do. This is terrible. Worse than anything I’ve ever played. Lobbies seem better.

The India stage is def fucked. Even offline. Waterfall and Rio are the ones that seem to work for me.

Apparently the online play uses frameskipping to keep the game at the correct speed if one of the players has a potato PC(or is on PS4 lol). Seems like a good way to do it, especially since this is one of my biggest gripes with playing PC fighters online(I’m looking at you, Xrd).
