I’m glad that I’m not the only person having issues with one-sided rollback. Me and my main training buddy have a better connection over sf4 than sf5. So, what should we do about this problem? tweet at combofiend? Peter will make it all better, right?
Peter will just tell you how awesome online is going to be 3 years later with the Final Fight DLC.
I’m pretty sure they are aware of the one sided desynch/rollback issue. It has to be expected that Capcom’s rollback wasn’t going to work perfect at launch and even Killer Instinct’s netcode which is heralded as of now has famous videos with DSP clearly desynching with another player. Once more awareness and videos get out there the hijinks will get sorted out.
This is expected for day/month one. At least compared to some of the other stuff that’s not here day one.
My overall experience is that the majority of people I play with I still get a better overall connection with than I would have in SFIV. When I play people locally or even across Europe I probably get a few rollbacks during an entire set at most. Which the other player doesn’t ever complain about heavy rollbacks on there side while I’m sailing smooth.
I’m sure it is a legitimate problem, just hasn’t been complained about with the people I play with. Haven’t gotten heavy rollbacks with anyone that I regularly play against in lounges.
I spoke to a friend in person on Saturday about the game and our online sessions.
I asked him how bad the lag was for him and he said that it was fine, stuttered a little every once in a while but other than that was great.
I had to try and explain that on my screen Ryu’s HK Tatsu had a teleport attached to it while they’re professing there was no lag.
It’s not the end of the world but I agree with what people here are saying - Having a match be laggy is frustrating but ultimately expected. Having a match be laggy for one person while the other is playing what feels like offline is the worst. Winning a match and thinking afterwards “That connection was great, I wonder if it was laggy for them” is not fun.
It seems like the game is skipping some inputs online as well. I can’t do Ken’s Hadoken far screen online consistently the way I do it for more than 20 years. I must do it slower. Even on games that are not laggy. Works perfectly fine in training for days and once I’m online I throw HP on the screen.
Very disappointed ATM. Capcom really screwed it.
Thread is kinda pointless but I feel ya bro. It’s the same in every game, poverty players.
Why are you not just searching for 4-5 bar connections then?
That used to happen to me a lot in China. The firewall does really whacky things to internet routing.
I only play people with 4-5 connections. I leave it open to kick them so they can learn that’s not acceptable. So it’s not too pointless. There’s a lot of new players around here that don’t know any better.
Oh and it’s not just China. It’s USA and the rest of the world.
Well this entire thing is your own bloody fault then, congratulations you’ve wasted your time, that player’s time and everyone who clicked on the thread’s time, want a medal?
And all this time I thought forums was a way to waste or spend time. Thanks for correcting the entire foundation of what forums are for.
You sir deserve a medal of honor!!!
Spikes still can occur in this surprisingly, and it did made me drop inputs (REALLY rare though… this is not as problematic as the other severe ones mentioned above).
i’m in london and the netcode sucks balls. stop being tight arses and get ggpo

Curse you Capcom for releasing SF5 in this half-assed state. The online is complete ass. Why is there no option to filter by country or by internet connection in Battle Lounge yet they have that option in Ranked? Pure idiocy. Yeah I’m sure they will release a fix for it later but have some damn standards. I feel like I spend more time looking for a lobby to join than actually playing the damn game. They need to implement a fix right away.
So THATS why I keep getting foreign players in BL. So fucking simple.
Capcom doesn’t know the fucking pain of going through with a teleporting FT10 just out of the fact you’ve been waiting 30+ minutes for one game.
I stopped playing because of the online, I’m just waiting till the next update. It’s still all over the place. I envy those of you who have had smooth sailing since the day 2 server update. For me and my friends here locally, it’s still mostly shit.
I tried this morning, bad decision. 3 matches in and I’m done, nash teleporting all over me getting full crossup combos, I don’t even know what’s going on.
Also, let’s get ready for the march update to be delayed. There hasn’t been a WORD about it. It’s sketchy.
so me and my friends are all on at least 300 Mbps, pings of 2-5ms between us, PCs that can handle 60fps with no sweat
- get into a battle lounge with friend
- first match has teleports? return to lobby!
- repeat point 2 a few times until no more teleports/rollbacks
- set plays magically well all the way
- …until it ends and we have to start a new set, then it’s back to repeating number 2
wtf? shades of SFxT PC all over again!
i can spot a match with rollbacks/teleports from the intro. if the screen pauses slightly before ROUND 1, FIGHT!, match is unplayable
Net code needs work and patches big time.
Yeah the Netcode is beyond awful. I’m starting to honestly fucking give up. I literally spend more time searching for a match then actually playing one. Fuck you Capcom. Incompetent sorry ass excuse for a company. They had plenty of time to refine the netcode with the multiple beta’s they had running throughout 2015, yet they still manage to fuck things up this bad? I’m playing on Ethernet and I’m still getting disconnected from matches out of nowhere and when I’m searching for a lobby to join in battle lounge, it will only display maybe 1 out of 10 connections so you don’t even know the latency of the lobbies that you’re joining. It doesn’t tell you shit. How do they get away with releasing games in this state? What was the purpose of all the beta tests if they STILL can’t get a stable netcode. Unbelievable…
PS: Are you guys also constantly getting matches against asian players in the lobbies? Connections take forever to show, and when they do it’s like…one or two out of the 15 lobbies. No matter how many times I refresh It’s almost always japanese or chinese players with one bar. Ugh.
I have to host my own. I have never been successful in joining a battle lounge because by the time I see the bars load it is full or closed.
