Yeah, I play Xrd with some friends and we get great input delay, some friends 1f, some 2-3f that feels good too because it’s either a solid 2 or 3f, and in SFV the 1f friends are fine most of the time but the ones that get 2-3f have pretty bad teleporting sometimes and others it’s pretty good, seems random.
It’s pretty infuriating playing someone who teleports and then getting matches with that same person with the same connection problem 2 more times in a row while it STILL says 5 bars. That anger that caused me i was asking myself if i could really blame people rage quitting on this shit.
The worst part though is beating someone good and wondering if you actually beat them or if you were just the teleporting cunt this time around. It just makes it impossible to feel good about winning
At five bars the matches are almost perfect, really impressive (there are some cases with lag but they are rare)
Problem is that I cant have overseas matches that way since they are normally 3 bars. Does this happen to everyone, are people from the US being able to play with Europe and Japan normally?
I’ve played quite a lot of people in Europe and it was pretty smooth. Unless you live in eastern europe or some part of asia it’s not worth trying to play Japanese people IMO. The netcode won’t make those games very much playable.
Just had a fantastic set of matches where every time I was jumped in on either my anti air or my block was rolled back to being mid combo.
Set to 5 bars only.
Last match was against a Nash who kept jumping in with MK so I would use Knee Bazooka to get out of trouble only for the game to suddenly teleport me back where I was, getting counterhit.
I feel like the connections can be amazing and then there are days like today when playing feels like an effort in frustration.
Are you on cable? Because I’m on Cable and I experience something similar where there are certain set times where the connection is terrible since everybody is logged on at the same time.
Nah not cable. Australian Internet is famously poor though. My guess is peak hours there is an issue with too many people. Either too many people for the Aussie SFV servers or too many people online slowing that shit down.
I did the speed test the through my PS4. The results were not good… as in fucking poor. About 5mgb down and only 700kbs up.
And that is not cheap internet at ALL.
I’m getting on the fibre optic grid this month so if it is a speed issue hopefully that will sort it.
On a separate note. I woke up for work at 6am just now and tested the connection. Works like a charm now.
I’ve had almost no problems with the netcode at all. Once in a while I get a fight where someone bounces around a little, but for the most part it’s not noticeable at all. I suspect that a lot of people having trouble actually have their problem on their end, not their opponent’s. I only set my connection to 3-5 and still it’s rare to have even a little teleporting for me. I am on a PC, with wired ethernet to the router that goes to verizon fios. I’m now playing exclusively casual matches, but when I played battle lounges I did occasionally find someone with a 2-bar connection who would cause resyncing a lot.
Curse you Capcom for releasing SF5 in this half-assed state. The online is complete ass. Why is there no option to filter by country or by internet connection in Battle Lounge yet they have that option in Ranked? Pure idiocy. Yeah I’m sure they will release a fix for it later but have some damn standards. I feel like I spend more time looking for a lobby to join than actually playing the damn game. They need to implement a fix right away.
The more I play, the more I just can’t even handle this game because of how bad it’s netcode is. Every single victory is hollow because I don’t know if it was fine on their end, and every loss is evidently flawed, because I know how bad it was on MY end. This isn’t the usual lag battle, where I’m fighting people who excel in high latency (because there are those guys), I’m fighting people who AREN’T lagging, and I am. It is… the most cringe-worthy thing I think I’ve ever experienced from something as simple as a game’s netcode.
This gives me flashbacks to SFIV’s terrible port to Steam’s system. I’m sure anyone who played on PC then knows well of the long pauses: the game changing, combo breaking, punish saving pauses which would happen consistently? This is like that, only subtle, and cruel, because you never know! “Did it lag for him or did I win legit?” You’ll never know, and for someone like me who likes the playing field to be even at all times, it’s absolutely the worst. To the point where I’m more or less done playing online until they fix the desync.
For those saying it’s “fine” for them, do keep in mind, this lag has been proven to be a very one-sided sort of event. Laggy for one, completely smooth for the other. Whoever is causing the desync might well even by the ones who are getting “left behind.” I have a friend who is very much someone on the offending side of this, who has consistently smooth matches, but as I and all my friends have proven, is quite the opposite for anyone facing him. So, it’s definitely based on a person-by-person basis, and seems more consistent that you’ll either be getting shafted and getting the lag, or not. Sad reality is, I actually believe over 90% of the matches have some sort of desync going on, based on my experience, and by how often the second round lags over the first.
Regardless, this HAS to be fixed, and I mean like top of the list of things to fix. Not (what was it?) a year or however damn long it took them to fix the SFIV PC version. I assume Capcom is at least aware of this glaring netcode flaw, right? They don’t often go checking SRK, so I hope these blatant observations are somewhere by someone who might get their attention.
(For those thinking my lag is my end. Maybe. Could be yours too. Fact stands however, I can play someone over GGPOs netcode with up to 125ms before I even start to lose frames. If they want to compete in the netcode department, they better step it up.)
The netcode is awful for me. I have great connections in other games such as CS, DOTA, GG Xrd, SF4, and fightcade 3s. In this game almost every match has teleport problems for me and it seems completely one-sided with the way the opponent is able to act. A bunch of other people I know tested it between each other and when it happens it is the same as the guy above with one person getting the choppy mess and the other guy has it smooth.
Spot on. I have pretty solid connections with people in the US, Canada, or Mexico but anywhere else is literally unplayable. I host the battle lounge, set it to first to five and kick anyone that isn’t from North America. If the connection is still too laggy I’ll kick them after the first match. Between this screwing around and waiting for all the loading I think it is a good 45 minutes wasted.
Yet SRK doesn’t see this at all. Apparently the netcode is “infinitely” better. Apparently online is working fine.
I just lost my training partner for SFV (coming from SFIV) because now it’s showing rollback on my end, but it showed okay on his end… and we gave video proof.
It still grinds my gears too hearing “once you play a perfect match, you don’t want to go back to SFIV online.” Yea… especially when like only ONE game is really good and like the next 20 games are teleporting like crazy… I just faced the same Nash twice in a row, and the first game felt like playing KOF 98 Kaillera against a Brazil player on a broken monitor… I lost really bad and it made me salty (the person’s LP was really low too)… always started with doing moonsault or QCB+Kick. The NEXT game though, was fine… and I won really easily (the game even went by super fast). HOW IS THIS ACCEPTABLE?!?
The worst part is, like the above quote, how am I even supposed to know if the opponent is lagging?? I swear, it feels like every match I play that’s laggy, people will just call people scrubs and need to get good when we don’t even know how the connection is from both sides.
Seeing the “online” SFV games from Levelup stream is… garbage. It felt like I was watching a game full of glitches. Frame data be damned…
Also I don’t know about anyone else… but have you notice the stage animations moving insanely fast? It gives an ST vibe in a way, but what hurts so much is when objects are moving. Even the background elements teleport. Lair of the Four Kings literally hurts my eyes because of what’s going on the screen. It feels like I’m getting epilepsy watching the game as this occur.
Somehow I’ve had a number of matches where the opponent just… stood still for an entire round. At first I thought this was just some weird one-time thing, but it’s happened at least 4 times now.
In other news the lag problem is getting better on my end =)
Anyone else in a similar predicament as mine? I can host battle lounge games just fine, but I can’t find ranked or casual matches at all. I found 2 on day 1 and I found 1 last wednesday and 1 last thursday. I was in Queue for over an hour each time.
The sucky thing about this is that even though I can play battle lounge, better players do not want to join because they see that i’m a rookie with little to no LP and write me off as a scrub before even joining…
I’ve done port forwarding advice, changed routers, changed computers… idk. disappointed that this $60 product offers me nothing besides training mode and a lame surivival mode.
