Net code discussion. Rollback confirmed!

Man I really hope they fix this soon. The connections are janky as fuck, even on 5 bars. The platform doesn’t seem to matter much either. I played PC > PC earlier and the rollback was just as bad. Seems pretty pointless to play online at all right now because winning and losing means nothing when neither seem legit.

Nash doesn’t need a teleport when you have this netcode.

Glad that for once I’m not the only who’s having that shit happen.

4 or 5 bar last night, no laggy matches. Seemed to work, at least last night.

I disliked how SF4 was online so much that I rarely played anything but local if I could help it. Having to resort to online nonsense tactics, or completely shelving more technical combos “just to win” was infuriating to the point of not even playing at all. With the changes in links, and this netcode, online is a substantial improvement over what SF4 offered. It’s definitely not perfect either, although at times I don’t know if it’s just an issue with the servers, or someone’s internet.

Lately, I just play in the lounge and we set it to FT3 or FT5. Mainly because after a certain amount of games, it seems like I desync from the server (where it should show rank, LP and character lvl, all I see is “–”) and it literally takes up to 30s to go from the lounge to character select; where the countdown for stage select has expired. I don’t know what causes this either, but it’s pretty annoying.

Having played for a bit now, I can definitely say that this netcode feels better than Street Fighter 4. Living in Northern Norway (though with a perfectly decent Internet connection), MOST matches in SF4 would feel compromised. With this, most matches feel good to perfect, with only a little stutter here and there when it’s not perfect.

However, and this is a big however, the road from good/great to unplayable is incredibly small. It’s incredibly easy to be thrown off once you get more than just the occasional stutter. If it’s present throughout the match, forget reacting to anything whatsoever.

The cases where someone literally just teleports all over the screen, I’ll disregard. I’ma consider those the SF5 equivalent of the matches where you press a button, wait almost a full second, and THEN see it on screen. That’s just as unplayable, and I feel like they were just as frequent as the Game And Watch matches in SF5.

It does seem like the connection strength doesn’t matter much. I ONLY seem to get 4/5-bar matches, with the very, very occasional 3-bar match (possibly thanks to people setting their search settings that way), so there’s no way for me to tell beforehand whether a connection will be good or not.

Everynight i get the 2100d error message until about midnight then it starts working

What the fuck!!

Anyone else have this issue?

It just amazes me how easy it is to AA people with SRK in this game compared to part 4, online, due to the much better netcode. For me personally, there is no way I would be able to punish Birdie’s jumping grab if this had SF4 netcode. By the time my input came out, I’d already be grabbed. With this netcode, that move is virtually worthless lol.

It also amazes me how many people continue to jump at a standing Ryu after so many iterations of street fighter.

For me personally the netcode has been excellent. Even 3 bar matches mostly feel perfect.

I wonder how good the netcode/matchmaking/loading times will hold up now that the weekend is coming up again.

Not sure what happened, but in the time span that I had great matches at 4 and 5 bars, I now get slight teleporting on 5 bars and lots of hit confirm roll backs on 4.

Hi guys so I have a problem over the last few days I can’t find ANY matches online. I have to wait 30+ minutes and when I do get a game it’s vs the same person. Before the last 2-3 days I was getting games no problem…is anyone else having this problem and is there a fix for it? it’s pretty much stopping me from playing the game now despite the fact that I want to play…but I can’t be waiting 1hr for a game

-I haven’t changed any settings prior to what I had before when it was working fine
-I’m not on Wi-Fi
-From UK on PC

Thanks for any help would be greatly appreciated!

The game requires some ports to be opened in your router/firewall. From their capcom.jp FAQ section:

source: http://www.capcom.co.jp/support/faq/platform_ps4_sfv_0100678.html

I’ll be honest, I blamed capcom for the issue of the servers that don’t work well but yesterday after seeing on steam what you just wrote, I went into the router’s settings (Fastweb) and I have simply activated the game mode.
Now I have’t “almost” problems to seek in ranked match or casual and lounge works well too!!
I can also send invitations entering the lounge without problems.

However, it is normal that in the battle lounge I don’t gain or lose LP?
It works well in classified random match (LP) and random match (for FM)…

Lately every match has had teleporting. It might not start with teleporting but by round two the opponent is teleporting. Making it impossible to play. Teleporting sweeps are awesome.

The netcode is still hit and miss for me but I would never go back to input delay. Input delay can die in a fire.

In what world is Japan a 5-bar connection to North America? I couldn’t see the Ken it was pure teleportmania.

It feels like the servers have been having an aneurysm today. It started out mostly fine for me, but an hour or two down the road, and I have to be able to predict teleporting shoryukens.

Doesn’t help that I’m eternally stuck fighting what seems to be like the same 5-10 players. If the lag issues are more personal, that certainly doesn’t help issues.

How come in Battle Lounge, it’s random on whether or not it will lag. I’ve had perfect connections and shitty connections with the same person after with both press ready doing a ft5. Or even better, one person won’t have ANY lag, while the other person is teleporting around the screen creating two completely different experiences. Can someone please explain to me why this happens? I’ve even had a great connection to my friend in London (I’m in Florida), but other times it’s just unplayable. Does shit like this happen to anyone else?

For comparison’s sake, I used to fight my friend on GGPO with absolutely 0 rollback, now when I play him in this game, it’s stutter city.

Anybody having issues with creating battle lounge games? I make a game, nobody ever joins and I get disconnected in 5-10 seconds.

I asked elsewhere so I need to know so as to not go insane; is this the ONLY game that is giving you guys trouble atm? A few of my friends here say that their experience online is fine, but even though all my other online games are running perfectly smooth, this game is running like shit for me. Yesterday I had a few lagless matches, but since release it’s been like 80% lag and rollback. Today it’s been absolutely unbearable and I’m dealing with teleport spiral arrows and other bullshit.

I’m pretty concerned that the online will remain as is; because if it is then this game has already died for me. Finding a decent match is maybe 1 every 15 games, and I don’t have time for this.

It is pissing me off. This is the only game I have any issue with when it comes to these types of connections. A decent portion of my losses come from damn matches where I get to watch them teleport whilst they get the flawless match going full combo.

I get better connections in battle lounge and my ranked only accepts 5s.
