Probably proofing that Rollback is great when done right but right now it’s pretty butt on SFV.
Playing friends I play on Xrd some close that I get 1f delay in Xrd is minimal rollback in SFV, ones I get steady 3F delay that live a few states over is unplayable with random teleporting.
if you can connect to the CFN and play online, opening ports which are already open then won’t do anything better. any modern router should support UPnP anyway.
My experience had definitely improved from Saturday’s craziness. I had plenty of slowdown Saturday but then it eased up significantly yesterday. Good job Capcom!
You reminds me of this old joke:
An astronomer, a physicist and a mathematician are on a train in Scotland. The astronomer looks out of the window, sees a black sheep standing in a field, and remarks, “How odd. All the sheep in Scotland are black!” “No, no, no!” says the physicist. “Only some Scottish sheep are black.” The mathematician rolls his eyes at his companions’ muddled thinking and says, “In Scotland, there is at least one sheep, at least one side of which appears to be black from here some of the time.”
In all seriousness this same topic is half full of people complaining about lag and half full of people saying everything is fine, also there is the known alt-tab bug video and comments of GGPO developers with explications of what is happening.
Of course, we still don’t know how the pitcher and the catchers are decided and can happen that a player can swap roles in each match but comments here makes somehow clear that once catching the teleports you are in for some matches in a row.
The netcode itself seems pretty solid to me, it’s just that right now it’s glitchy.
With every opponent that I know and purposefully play with in a lounge, the matches have been absolutely perfect. The netcode itself is good.
Playing random ranked opponents however… yeah.
There is something wrong with it right now. Desyncs, favoring other player etc. but I’m sure it will get fixed.
Find me a game where people aren’t bitching about netcode… I remember the GGPO forums would be filled with everyone whining about how laggy it was or how they could never connect with people. As long as something takes even a fraction of initiative on the consumer’s part as far as their hardware, firewall, anti-virus settings, there will be people bitching about how shit “netcode” is.
