That’s wassup!!! Can’t really say too much about the KOF/NGBC scene in San Diego just yet (I’m not a native here)… Got some cats interested in XIII though… I’m trying to set some stuff up down here including some NGBC casuals…

At the very least, I still play on XBL…

It’s not as dead as it seems in Japan-- it’s still getting some play. The scene is comparable to a VS scene over here in the states I believe…

Anybody still playing this game lately? I’m still in love with NGBC to this day and I just downloaded the Xbox Live Arcade version recently. It’s amazing and was just curious if anyone was still playing this game, as no one seems to be online anymore. :frowning:

I think it’s pretty much dead online. I don’t mind playing it I just haven’t played it in a long while.

I used to main King Lion, Chonrei, WH Hanzo and Asura.
I’d appreciate if someone could post what their strongest combos are; I used to know some good ones with them but I kind of forgotten them.

Aw, I figured the Online must have been dead. That really sucks, as I’m really obsessed with this game at the moment, lol. But yeah, if you really feel like playing sometime, I’m totally up for it. I’m somewhat decent at the game, XD. My gamertag is diamonddust131, same as my name on here.

Oh yeah, for Shishioh, you can do 2B, 6C, 236A, 632146C… If you’re close enough, you can start that combo with 2A, and then do the rest…

Hanzo doesn’t really have much other than 5A, 2B to super projectile… You gotta work on teleport mixups and get that backwards j.B off of the teleport…

Anyone know of any good combos with Kisarah? And does anyone have any idea who could partner up with her effectively. I really love her moveset, so I’m for sure sticking with her. There’s just gotta be a way to combo into that Hip Bazooka though, XD.

I finally got this to work on Demul (I don’t have a 360 but if NGBCHD comes out for PSN/Steam I’m there) and I’m digging it. Or as much as you can without access to a real training mode. My one complaint would be a lack of diverse characters. There’s plenty of characters but not enough different playstyles. There’s Marco, Cyber Woo, Mars People and that’s about it. Where’s the grapplers? I guess you have the Last Blade characters and Hoahamaru but there’s not enough diversity. That said I’m digging Hanzo, Fuuma, Mr Karate, and Mr. Big. I tried Asura and he plays so differently it takes a while to get into him, I’ve seen some tournament footage with him and it seems like your best bet is zoning with him. Once I get more comfortable with the game I’ll try him out.

Damn good tag fighter though.

Cyber Woo is considered a grappler. She actually has good setups for her throws, too, especially since one of them has armor. Plenty of characters have command grabs, but that doesn’t necessarily make them grapplers.

Asura… Well, he’s fun, but alot of his moves have a long startup, so he’s limited in a sense. Yeah, he’s kinda made for zoning, but then you have characters like Mudman, and Marco (damn grenades), and they outshine him … Asura’s got some nice tricks though.

Kim’s a grappler. I’m not even kidding. Get thrown > die, pretty good setup.

Anyway, I think variety is fine in the game. One thing to be especially wary of, some things that may seem good at first really aren’t because of guard cancel forward step. Be wary of that.

Yeah I believe Kim is one of a few characters who’s throws don’t allow you to tech. Kim’s main threat is cr.A poke or any poke into rekka to his air super, which can give you a free d,d+K stomp if he’s close enough…

You’re right, there are tons of things that seem good, but aren’t too strong because of GCFS. On the flipside to that, there are things that can be decent or better because of ACTS (AC Tactical Step), like some rushdown strings, or actual combos. For instance, without ACTS, Asura wouldn’t have too much in terms of combos. That isn’t to say he has a ton of combos because of it, but he has something else he can do other than cr.A, b.D, db.D, f.D.

There are ways to counter GCFS attempts though. Rock for instance, can do d.A, d.A to a blocking opponent (the recovery can be deceptive, especially since it doesn’t combo on NH), and if the opponent does try to GCFS on the d.A, Rock should have enough time to block and he at that point has a few options. I personally love his 360 toss in this game vice his MoTW version, because he has better options and setups for another 360 throw, or he can Rage Run to the other side, and mixup from there.

Think I found a good team:

Mr. Big and Fuuma. Big is pretty simple. Combo into Lariat, use Lariat and Psycho Crusher pressure. Combo into super. Scare them with his grab super (LOL QCFx2 grab super) and AA with his SRK.

Fuuma is pretty sick. Good zoning. Good combos into his HCB force push. Quickly builds meter. Has some interesting gimmicks. Does his air SRK beat all air-to-airs? He just has bad supers. I assume there has to be a very specific situation to combo into them but he lacks those easy hit confirms that Hazno has.

*May switch it up between Hanzo and Fuuma. There has to be a reason why Fuuma has bad supers? I was thinking you could do his fireball super at fullscreen and tag out but it doesn’t look like that’s possible.

goddamn I love this game. I wish it had a port with good online. it’s so good. just a few balance tweaks and it’d be practically perfect.

Big’s torpedo isn’t as safe as it looks… There are quite a few characters who can punish it… You can also combo into his grab super rather than just doing it raw… Most people I fight do that rather than the typical normal into 623C~236236+P combo.

Fuuma is good, but he’s nowhere near as great as Hanzo. Fuuma’s supers aren’t even worth using imo, unless the chip damage is guaranteed to kill. Hanzo has the teleport crossup with j.B. You basically rushdown, and go into the teleport that puts him right above the opponent. If it’s done right, while Hanzo lands, you can do a backwards j.B, and it will cross up. You can combo afterwards… Fuuma only has his bnb combo, and a few mixups.

Fuuma’s air dp can beat air-to-airs, but some characters can beat it out easily. Hanzo’s dp is way better, because he can st.A and go into dp, so you won’t need to go air-to-air at all. If you do go air-to-air with Hanzo, j.B works perfect most times…

I feel that part of the reason no one will play this game is due to a lack of available resources for this game. If any of you know of a really good guide or tutorial for this game, post links in this thread.
