Need Dudley specific input to chart character stats

Dudley's v.2012 balance changes. (BETA)

SSB isn’t amazing. It’s sorta decent. Against certain characters. Against certain types of players of those characters. Who are undisciplined.

Otherwise it’s garbage. Frame trapping/Blocking+punishing wakeup achieves most of the things SSB attempts to, is less risky and usually achieves much more damage too (CH st.RH setup is back in 2012).

It is, however, very good against reversals in the corner, because of the cr.RH juggle into Ultra/Super. Also certain characters that have a few reversal options beaten by SSB like Fei Long and Viper.

Don’t try that cute ssb shit against someone who is going to low you out of it’s 40 frame animation every time in footsies, you’d be crazy to let up your pressure on something so risky.

The new MK and HK SSB’s in 2012 might prove useful though in some matchups that can’t punish -4 easily.

Short Swing Blow:

The problem with SSB is that the opponents can simply punish it with level 1/2/3 focus attack, backdash, neutral jump, FADC, throw/command grab, late crouch tech or by simply mashing. Not to mention that any reversal that has a decent horizontal range like Chun-Li, Guile, Bison and pretty much half of the cast makes it obsolete. So here are what we suggest.

[]Add an Armor Break propriety to Short Swing Blow (REQUIRED).

[INDENT=2]Dudley only has one 1 armor breaking move (duck straight). It is slow and very risky to do it up close. If SSB had an armor break propriety, it would be used more against opponents who are focus happy against Dudley (Dudley is very prone to focus attacks because of his slow, high recovery 1 hit normals).[/INDENT]

[]Make the Light versions low hurtbox reduced like MK and HK version (Recommended).

[INDENT=2]This is just a reminder, Medium and Heavy versions of SSB are rarely used over the Light version since they’re punishable on block, has a slower startup which decreases the chance of countering opponents throws/crouch techs and it’s easier to react to because of slower animation. So we recommend that the Light version of SSB also gets the same low hurtbox reduction or just LK SSB alone receives the mentioned buff.[/INDENT]

[INDENT=2][LEFT]Currently the frame data for short swing blow on block are LK: -2 MK: -4 MK: -4 ex: -2. Make it LK: 0 MK: -2 HK: -2 ex: -1 on block. Does Chun-li’s Hazan Shu ring a bell? The difference is Hazan Shu gets the job done by avoiding grabs, mashing, safe on block and the ability to combo off of it on hit.[/LEFT][/INDENT]

SSB was being input too early in that video. It’s invincible on the sway back so it has to be done late as shit.

That’s why it works so good to bait out moves.

When the opponent wakes up to press a button, their active frames should be hitting you on the sway back (when your invincible). So you’ll either hit your opponent before they recover or your opponent will recover just in time to block.

Is it more reliable on certain characters? Yes
Does it have weaknesses? Yes. But if you mix it up with the rest of your options, it’ll compensate for it like every other move in SF.
Do I want it to have armor break properties? Yes

But it ain’t useless. that video is doing it wrong. Besides characters with far hitting reversals most of that list of what it loses to is wrong.

it’s THROW invincible on the way back. but you’re right. SSB isn’t a 1 stop shop move like a lot of characters have. it’s something that works well in conjunction with his other moves and yea, not every character is free to it. cody is a perfect example. some characters really can’t handle it though.
