Necalli looks like urien and gill so I consider him both of those.
How about makoto and ibuki hybrid character?
Maybe another character that’s alittle bit of sakura and karin?
Blanka…I hope to god necalli is the closest thing to blanka that touches this game. Dead serious.
How about a hugo/gief/thawker? Could be a panzer grappler that is just overkill in the costume department with heavy ass tanks and cannons on it’s back, although that might be bordering on what tekken has done with jack and that big red fella.
I wonder if brazil is an excuse for a capoeira fighter…hm. Or sambo. or eh…whatever else they fight like in brasil/brazil. The character design for the pure 5th entry seems like it’s going in the 3rd strike direction in terms of art design so I’m really starting to doubt any of em’s getting in -_- But dudley has a good shot though.
Ironically I learned about the Maori tribe when I did a class project/presentation on New Zealand back in my Sophomore year of college. Necalli definitely fits some of the visual stereotypes.
Even though dreadlocks are common with the Maori tribe, I think they overdid it a bit. They should make them look more realistic in his normal state, because right now it looks like he glued gym ropes to his head.
Nevertheless, he looks incredible. Can’t wait to play the Beta this week.
The only thing about him that reminds me of Urien is the blood lust in his attacks and his clothing style.
His moves feel very pretty unique to him, but if there’s one character he reminds me of from a gameplay standpoint, it might be Alex and I say that in the loosest way. He’s like a brawler with grappler capabilities, but he seems to have a DP style move and Alex isn’t quite known for Berserker Barrage style moves.
I want to see more of this guy and how he plays cause I like his character design (even if the dreads go all over the place) and just looks fun to play. It’s nice to have a wild man that isn’t Blanka in the cast
Not that I disagree that Necalli can’t be compared with Urien/Gill, but I’m not sure “calm and collected” is how I would describe a guy that yells KILL CRUSH DESTROY and clenches his fists to blood when he gets Hungrybox’d loses on timeout. =V
I completely disagree. Urien enters the arena wearing a business suit and Gill runs the entire secret organization. You cant be on the same level of intellect as Necalli and to able to do achieve such status and power. They are completely different characters. When they are fighting, thats when their god complexes shines the most. Gill thinks hes freaking jesus, “the mark of thy diety shar scar thy DNA”. That shit is fucking deep right there! When they view others its in the same manner as you view a ant.
I need to see this guy in action. After watching all of the EVO finals last night i’m just wondering how the evo finals will look for 5, specially when characters are looking this cool. Gaaaaaaah

That was my line of thinking from the teaser but after the reveal, I’ve changed my mind. He has an Aztec name. So I no longer think he’s Maori. Necalli is Aztec for Battle. I think Mexico just got it’s third SF representative.
I think I used too many negatives in that post. Let me rephrase:
I agree that you can’t compare Necalli with Urien and Gill in the slightest. I just don’t think “calm and collected” is a good description of Urien. Bringing up the god complex is a fair point, but I feel it applies far, far more to Gill than to Urien. While Urien certainly thinks himself to be above everyone else, which does factor in to his personality, him keeping his cool outside of fights seems to be a pure facade. He’s an unstable, bloodthirsty psychopath, and he seems to be one step away from going on a murderous rampage at any point.
You can if you were handed the organization and (a) you are considered the second coming of the organizations founder - Gill. (b) you are the second most powerful being in your organization who is a maniacle tyrant, emotionally unstable, and prone to extreme violence - Urien.
