Necalli General Thread: Necalli enters the Tournament!

Mostly no hard knock downs in the game so command grabs will be more useful as combo extensions than hard knock down SPD setups. That’s probably why. In which case, to balance out grabs, you’ll have to cut back on the damage because they’re used to open up the opponent for damage, not to actually get a bunch of damage off the single move. If they did the same damage, then they’d be OP if you could combo after. If you can’t combo after, then there is no point to them since they won’t give you enough time to set up a throw mixup after, minimizing grappler damage output. It’s a good balance theory they’re using.

the most we saw with EX-Grab was a SRK after… its like Hugos wall Throw you can simply SRK after the damage is much less then a normal SPD but if you make a Clap bevorhand and then SRK… Specialy the Stun goes much higher with this… maybe nobody got the right juggle after the ex-Throw jet? After all this is beta and capcom will most certanly hafe something in mind… im just hoping there is no useless Specialmove like Zangiefs Running Bear Grab (so slow nobody use it…)

I wonder if you can reset after the wall throw to pull of another. And the damage outfit on the command throw is just as high as the normal throw but with damage possibilites afterwards. Nice :).

i see Calli can link a cr.mp into another cr. mp. Wonder if he can link a cr. mk xx DGafter. Stomp, cr. mp looks like a possible frame trap, maybe stomp cr/st lp xx super. His DG looks unsafe as all hell. Will probably have to play him like Cammy, whiff cr. mk xx DG outside his cr. mk range, and hope they walk into it when in playing foot games.

His st. mk(?) looks pretty dope, wonder if it forces stand. His st. rh looks really good as a spacing tool. You can link st. mk(?), cr. mk. I wonder if st. mk(?), cr. mp(mk)/st. mk, cmd grb would make a boss mixup, assuming good fadv on st .mk(?) blockstun.

Did not see DG xx Super. I wonder if its possible.

in that shitty gamescom footage, it looks like one of Necalli’s jumping punch attacks causes a juggle state on Chun. if I had to guess it’s j.MP.

DG looked quite safe as a hard read against fireballs though, as counter-intuitive as that might sound. There were quite a few bits of footage where necalli players punished ken/ryu fireballs from like a 3 character distance and still got the hit(plus the fireballs had already been out for a few frames in some instances). I personally don’t think DG can be linked/cancelled into super. I understand that all character are getting the anti-fireball treatment but that alone seems like it would pretty much destroy any and all fireball game.

Can I have a link please ?

And, Necalli’s Medium Punch looks like Ken’s Jumping Fierce (when he uses both of his arms with Heavy Punch).
Here are screens I took of each Jumping Punches, sorry for the bad quality :

“Safe” and “hard read” are contradictory ideas. That move looks slow enough that it falls in the SBF category of “yeah, you can use this to beat fireballs, but why didn’t you just jump instead?” It’s visibly not fast enough to use as anything but a twitch reaction, so you’re going to get it blocked often if you try it, like the necalli player did, although he mercifully only got punished with a jab.

It seems like some people are getting riled up by these “anti-fireball” tools and it’s confusing to me. Most of them are of three types: 1) you have to stand still and absorb the projectile, allowing the opponent to gain positioning/do a setup on you, 2) mega-slow move that works about as well as a jump-in for less damage, and only has projectile invulnerability to prevent it from losing for free to those characters, or 3) extremely fast punish that costs a lot of meter.

Complaints about option 3 I can understand. Presumably there is at least a cost involved in sitting on it, though, unlike ultras, so it should be a better world for fireballs than SF4 focus-fests. Low-cost punishes like EX scissors and hazanshu seem less common.

it shows up sometime after 20:38… the footage is painful to watch ~_~

Reading over my post again, you’re right. I think the proper term for this situation is on reaction, not hard read. I’m not complaining against the anti zoning game, I like it the way it is, but just from the footage i’ve seen it looks like DG is a safe move when spaced properly. I want to find the video where necalli punishes a ken player for throwing a fireball at mid-range on reaction. It certainly looked like there’s plenty of time for an experienced player to react. Either way that’s up in the air atm. On another related note, there is another video in which necalli nullifies a fireball with his v-skill where the fireball is literally on top of him, as if his hurt box get’s way smaller during the move AND the move itself has a very large box. To top it off, there’s been reports that the stomp move also nullifies projectiles. From this information at least I gather that necalli is almost built to punish fireballs…not a problem to me as I want to use him anyways.

I just need to try him out, like, NOW. I’m getting so impatient.

Thanks.

I can’t wait to see somebody who really knows how to play discovers what Necalli can do in V-trigger. And just at all.

Has it even been conveyed by Capcom exactly what his V-Trigger is supposed to do? Despite looking awesome the only thing I’ve noticed is that his charging claw does 2 hits.

He got makoto dashes.

His hair is way too floppy and floaty right now. It flails around madly anytime he moves at all. Hair is pretty heavy stuff. It needs to have more weight.

If this was MK maybe… But in SF I think his hair is great. It looks awesome in motion, I’ll have to check how it moves during things like jumping as opposed to walking but so far I think it’s fine.

It looks great when he’s standing and in motion, it looks like bullshit when he’s knocked down because it has no resting state. Just convulsing while he’s laying there.

nah that hair is fuckin hype

its gon look so good to teabag folks w necalli

Hear the beta is up.
