Not slamming your decision at all- I may do the same thing myself, but can I ask why Marvel isn’t your type of game but AH3 is? Haven’t played AH3 at all, but will likely pick it up on PSN.
Reason I’m asking is that I’m planning to hit Lucky’s Saturday to try and figure out who I should be playing in Marvel other then Tron, and to see if I’d like AH3 or not. Maybe Brent has some chars I can steal.
Oh yea it’s totally legit asking. It’s mostly just the combo system and characters, can’t really find anyone that I like particularly. I like AH3’s movement mechanics and also a good portion of the cast is appealing to me with the Arcana system being interesting to me to explore. I’m able to test things out in other games and I enjoy it or just working with the games system but in MVC3 I find myself more frustrated or just not really into the way it works. I see myself sticking more towards stuff like GG/BB/AH3 those type of fighters rather than the Marvel VS and I guess SF is just kind of an exception which obviously plays nothing like the three I mentioned but I grew up with it as a kid therefore I like it.
Edit: I would probably say if you like TVC/MVC2 and those sorts of games then 3 is for you but I never touched TVC and wasn’t too serious with MVC2 so it pretty much explains it.
Same general ideas I feel for the game. But since all my friends are going to play the game, and it’s going to be the new hype until AE comes out, I might as well and join the crowd -_-
Same here. I never got into Marvel. It’s so fun to watch but the combo system and movement is not for me. I will fart around with it just so I can play it with my friends but in no way am I going to be competitive in it. I am thinking about picking up 3rd strike again since I have moved my game to the competitive scene.
I hope MK doesn’t suck. 2 was the all time best and if this is an updated version of that then I think it will be cool. Fingers crossed.
I agree. Like I said he has counter matchups fortunately. But with some many characters and shenangians, its scary to think about what could potentially be found out in this game.
Also is it me or does the fighting game community in general have less tolerance for border-line broken stuff in games than before?
Yeah. A large part of it is due to the fact info spreads a lot faster, so more people know about it. Back in the day when people played just in the arcades and there was no SRK, you saw something broke, you had to figure out on your own how to deal. The advantage was the other guy had to learn how people dealt with it.
That said, people thought non-broken stuff was broken back in the day- cause no one learned how to deal with it sometimes.
Now , you just download stuff and don’t have to think for yourself as much. The true greats always will, but the 3rd-rate players don’t think anymore like they used to.
Overall, I think this is a good thing for the genre, as it forces devs to raise their standards or suffer. I do think fighters are much more balanced this gen then the previous gen as a general rule.
But rather than being a baiting asshole, I’ll go ahead and get to my point–there is no such thing as “too early for tiers”.
There are always tiers. There was a tier list for MvC3 before it was even officially released.
What the youngun’s don’t understand is that tiers are always in flux. Nothing is set in stone. To say tiers don’t exist yet because we don’t know everything yet is missing the point.
There’s never been ANY game we’ve learned absolutely everything about, except maybe Super Turbo. And yet tiers still exist, because they’re based off of what we DO know.
The tierlist for Feb 2011 MvC3 is obviously not going to be the same the Nov 2014 tierlist for MvC3. The Feb 2011 MvC3 tierlist obviously is not going to hold as much weight or significance as the Nov 2014 tierlist for MvC3. That does not mean it does not exist, or should not exist.
I registered on SRK in 08 so I must’ve started with SF4? That’s the most retarded thing I’ve ever heard  But whatever’s gonna get you to sleep at night.
11-08 is the same damn shit. Exactly how many tournaments did you enter before SF4? You started with SF4. Yes, I know I said Super SF4. It’s the same damn shit.
If I sound like I’m mad though, I’m not even. We all gotta start somewhere and nobody actually cares when who joined. I was just trying to bait people to explain why they think tiers don’t exist.
I didn’t enter a damn thing before or after SF4’s release because I was, and still am, young. Just because I didn’t post on SRK before SF4 doesn’t mean I started with SF4. I think you misread what I was trying to say. As mediocre as this may sound to you, I started on kaillera in 2005. There was no reason for me to register on SRK.
You can just teleport over him and combo if he does that. Dorm’s S also absorbs projectiles, as well as his moves with fire hands so I guess you could do S to block the beams then cancel into dark hole?
