Naw I was serious actually. Spencer is definitely not a pick up and play character as far as I can tell and most people are playing Marvel at gatherings, so it’s kinda hard to investigate at the moment. He’ll probably get some attention after the game comes out… unless he really is just that lame. But yeah I see where you’re coming from atleast. VS games have a lot of room for unexplored territory.

Spencer has some interesting stuff. I’ve seen a lot of talk in the threads, and I know there are a lot of burned copies out there. I guess I figured they’d have messed around in training mode like I did instead of matches only. Most of what I figured out was while Demo was watching over the course of like 40 minutes.

So I’m going to hold off on getting Marvel for a while and observe. If I play early, it will be on Roski’s copy.
Also, where is this Arcana hype going? Marvel is killing it? I’m just about to lay down all that fucking cash for it next week, so WTF?

What made you think on holding off about Marvel 3? Also still pretty hype about AH3. Brandino got myself and a few of my friends into the game. I also know the App State gaming club is hyping that shit like mad so maybe they will make it out to some of the tournaments.

You should just buy it. Everyone is going to be playing it. You not buying it until later will only hinder everyone and you’ll be getting in later than everyone else. The more people playing, the more people learning, the better everyone gets. Don’t bullshit around; hit the pavement and hit it hard.
Or you can just bring it over and me and Whoopi-Q can save money.

im not doing this again this year. im not gonna have people pissy with me because i didnt get them what they wanted. so im gonna explain this ONE LAST TIME.
i ALWAYS get early copies of games. this is without fail. yes the storeowner also gets games but she is very restricted about what she will/can sell pre-street because 1. she doesnt trust everyone and 2. she has to have copies available to the masses on the actual street date. so when she makes her order she allows me to make MY own order with MY money. im not a selfish person so i share the wealth with the community. some people hit me up WEEKS ago to set up getting a game. others still think hitting me up 5 hours after the order is set will get them a game. i apologize, but NO.
i post about getting the game. i set a timeframe. outside of that i cant help you too much. with that said I talked to the storeowner and YES she is going to have a few extra copies to sell tomorrow after 2pm or so. but i cant guarantee she will be able to accomodate a bunch of walk-ins.

The point I said to Will was: every time there’s a new fighting game. There seems to be this “FUCK SF4, I’M PLAYING THIS!!!” fad. Tekken 6, barely anyone plays it. Melty Blood, barely anyone plays it (now). HD Remix, BlazBlue (both versions), King of Fighters 12, etc. My point being, I don’t have the time or funds to learn a new fighting game every 3 months. I like to play casual shit, go out and enjoy my other hobbies and dumping a minimum 15 hours a week into training mode to learn multiple games when all of them die in 4 months or are on life support till a major host a side tournament for them isn’t worth my time.
By all means play what you like, if Arcana 3 really sticks around, good for you guys that supported it from day one and I hope to see you beast at tournaments. And I understand a lot of you guys just play all these fighting games because you genuinely like to play them. I’m no different, I fire up Tekken 6 all the time. But this “without any previous hands-on exp. Play this cuz everyone else is” thing doesn’t work for me anymore. I’m only getting MVC3 because (as a Marvel fanboy) I really just wanna play the game and I have a lil’ extra cash right now. Depending on my IRL shit and how much I like it from a competitive POV will determine the rest.

I got a sneak peek at the strategy guide today, and there’s a fair bit of stuff that people aren’t talking about. All I can say is, I’m incredibly hyped to play Dante now.

I totally agree. Like before Arcana, I was dedicated to one game and one game only (Tekken). I found that would be for the best since no matter what, one of two things always happens… (A) People say they’ll play a game then drop it / not play it at all (B) Play a game until the next new game is out, and forget about it. So even though other people ignored Tekken, I’d eventually be in the same boat if I played any other game (besides Super)… So I felt that I might as well just play the game I liked the most (Tekken).
I’m doing the same thing with Arcana. I’ve already said that I would play the game and I’m sticking to it because it’s one of the few fighting games that I really enjoy.
