Which reminds me…Jon was talking on Facebook about how he was getting an awesome LED tv that didn’t lag, and had researched it. I asked where he found the data for this and he said “Brent: GOOGLE”. Thanks Jon. He gets his TV and it lags. Moral of the story, finding useful information on this topic is not simple, and too many people on too many random forums don’t know what they’re talking about.
Choosing between Sound+Kamui and Sound+Scharl (I’ll end up using only one eventually). Sound arcana isn’t too popular, at least with japanese, so it’ll be nice to have an uncommon arcana.

Yo, where do people meet in Raleigh normally? I’m off on Fridays and saturdays, and I’d love to come out sometimes. I suck at just about everything, and would love to get better as well as meet/play some of you guys. I’ve come out like twice to GameFrog in Durham, but I haven’t heard about any gatherings there in awhile, but I actually live in Raleigh so…yeah.

But yeah I knew it was going to lag slightly, it’s definitely the best HDTV I’ve played on but they’re never lag free. I’ve got an Evo monitor for my computer so I can just play fighting games on that if I want lag freeness.
You don’t have to bring a TV. We can run Arcana on standard def (tournament standard for that game is 4:3 regardless), so if you just bring a PS3 then we’re good to go.

They can be. Viewsonic has a series of HDTVs that are labeled as Digital Signage in the 40-46" range for around $900-$1200 that are completely lag free. Also, a lot of HDTVs have post-processing disabled on the VGA port. So even though my 40" Samsung lags, when I plug my 360 in with VGA at 1080p, it’s completely lagless. Unfortunately though, this allegedly only works at 1080p, so I dunno what my PS3 with VGA will do with Arcana only supporting up to 720p.
Also, a lot of no-name television sets that end up being cheaper are lagless as well. Sony/Samsung and other bignames lag because of how much they clean up the image for consumers who want to WATCH things. So you pay extra for that. But you stand a better chance at picking up an El Cheapo model that’s lagfree.
In fact, Brent, I’d buy a 360 VGA cable from GameStop if you get a chance. It’ll make Super lagfree for you and at your gatherings if you run that on your bigscreen and run your PS3 on your CRT. And if the VGA cable doesn’t remove all the lag (depends on your TV and whether or not it even has a VGA port) you’ve got a week to get a refund.
Speaking of which, games are also being played on the Mezzanine level of UNC Charlotte’s Student Union building, mainly on Fridays. I have my lagless setup there from around 1pm to 10pm(permit-free parking is after 3pm). Though bear in mind that it’s a shared venue and Darklight runs more setups for his sessions on Saturday.
I’m leaving on Feb 4th so I’ll be here next weekend. You should talk to Roski to figure out what day. I think he said he’s free on Saturday so if that’s cool with you and Q, that would be good.
I’ve looked into that before Jimmy, and VGA doesn’t eliminate lag for my TV. I haven’t personally done it myself, but remember reading about someone who had the same model trying it.
Jon, you shouldn’t be able to feel the lag. Most every HD set will have at least a few ms of input delay, but anything single digits iirc is less than half a frame. If you can still notice lag, that information was BS. I was just annoyed that you answered my question by telling me to go Google shit, when I’ve already done that several hours on this ridiculous f’ing subject. WHY ISN’T THERE A THREAD ANYWHERE THAT LISTS CONFIRMED TELEVISIONS.
I think I had found one once, maybe afterdawn or AVS, but iirc the LCDs they had listed were either impossible to buy or ridiculously expensive.
Hector, I’ll stay on the lookout for those then. Classically, TN panels were better for games, but I guess this IPS “Alpha” is changing things? Best of both worlds as far as viewing angle/black but lower post processing?

yea its pretty hard to find anything around the size your looking for that is less than 16ms/1 frame…I went from evo monitor 1 (vh236h) to evo monitor 2 (aw2210) to finally getting my hands on a panny tc l32x1…I sold my alienware to luckys so those 2 monitors are guaranteed for every tourney. Keep searching on google for panny tc l32x1 EVERYDAY. Thats how i found mine and when they become avaliable via ebay, google etc jump on them cuz they are gone same day.
For AH3 I think I am going to be playing either Weeeeebeeeee, scharlot or whatever, or kamui. Not sure on Arcana’s yet but at least for weeebeee i want to learn to use time with her.
