People better be training up for Final Round.
Only reason I can’t make it to these lucky’s tournaments is gas!! Gettin’ from lumberton to greensboro is like, hella gas!! The November Lucky’s tourney was really fun, even though my viper was lookin’ really off that day. =[
Arturo called NC a “pot-monster carnival” and based on the reactions I got when I posted that he said that, I was the only person who assumably was mad at this statement.
You know what time it is NC.
I remember hearing that Marn said NC was free also.

People really have to argue what scene is better than the other? I thought it was all about playing the game together and getting better…
Art and Marn talk shit like it’s their job (because they don’t have one? lol). We do have a lot of potmonsters here, and because of that we can actually have tournaments, just like everywhere else.
While Art says this about almost anywhere he goes, with a few exceptions, he’s right. If you’re mad at stuff like this, then you should be concentrating on doing something about it rather than bitching and whining. Realize that he’s one of the top players in the country, and we’re not going to beat him without effort. There are players here who are recognized as being good players (Roski, DP, myself, Blake, Brent, etc.) and we got that recognition by proving ourselves in major tournaments. THAT IS THE ONLY WAY TO CHANGE ANYTHING.
NC can’t play games, because NC is a state, and a state can’t use a controller. Your concern should be changing people’s view of you as a player, not NC as a state. If enough people do this, then the rest will work itself out. The fact is, if you do nothing but play online and don’t show up to anything, then you need to shut the fuck up, because you’re contributing nothing but pointless drivel to the situation. (For the record, I’m not talking about you, East. I just quoted you to highlight where I was going with the post.)
OP, If y’all are so salty, then why are the roads so icey?
This is fine for casuals, but when it comes to tournament play, this reasoning is dumb. There is only one 1st place winner, and if you’re playing competitively, you’re gunning for it, even if it means having to beat your friends. Sure you can be happy for their progress, but your ultimate goal if you’re playing competitively is to be the best.
This is why I like Valle’s ideology of having rivals, because having a rival gives you a reason to get better: to beat the shit out of the other guy, and do it every time you play. You can be buddy-buddy later when everyone is at the restaurant having drinks and such, but in order for the scene to get better, people need to have a reason to get better, and there is no easier way for it to happen than for someone to tell you “You might think you’re god, but you’re not. I’m better.”
It also provides some entertainment value,
Edit: No offense taken Frank. I come to stuff.
Hey I feel like going to FR this year I just wanted to know whose all going.
This is an old argument. Nothing has changed.
Maybe what needs to happen is one of the better players needs to place high at a major in SSF4 and that’ll at least light some fires in the state. That’s what it took for 3S years ago.
Then again… you’re only as good as your competition. Not enough travelling?
For me myself… I haven’t contributed much to this community. I tried to get sessions here, but that has fallen off recently. I’d like to contribute competitively, but I suck @ SSF4. And the egos are too strong to help a brother out (excluding certain players; thanks!).
That’s mostly what I’m trying to say, yeah.
Castlevania HD is getting so crazy. They’re adding Simon and 8-bit levels.
This is another thing I’m really perplexed by. Care to explain what you mean by this last part?
I have never met someone in NC who isn’t willing to help someone get better.
Been messing around with Gen… So is he supposed to just lose auto like 90% of the time?..
Hi, I’m Cortland. I can’t stand to see niggas doing well, I play games with Austin just to drag his ass down. Making him think that run up dp is a real tactic that he needs to watch out for n shit.
@ Cornertrap, we should be able to hit the Winston gathering, will PM you but I need to see if we can stay at my parent’s house that night because I’m not driving three hours back in the middle of the night just to pass out all day sunday.
Cool, want me to just stay at your place on Friday and leave Saturday morning like last time?
(And here we go…)
When you want to play against player X and player X plays w/ their main for a little bit until you beat them and then they switch or player X continuously plays different characters w/o good repetition or they sandbag or take it easy giving you no real fight experience. Or player X just doesn’t want to deal w/ you because you’re not going to help him improve at your current skill level.
Another situation (w/o naming names) of players lower than me or someone else’s skill level: Players are afraid of losing. So they fight/practice against someone they can get false results from (win against).
Situation 3: Players blaming characters instead of the player they are playing against.
I have, unfortunately.
I had that same problem a few times. Turns out it was cause the other guys wanted to try to get some more experience with their alts. So I was like “Hey… play your main so I can learn the fight.” And they did. And the problem was solved cause I spoke up about it, to their faces, right then and there. Turns out the problem didn’t need to be solved, cause it was only ever a problem in my mind.
But that’s the way it happened to ME. Maybe you got stuck with a dick who wouldn’t, even when you asked.
If you don’t say something at the time, then it’s no more their fault than the other player(s). If you want to fight a character for a long ass time, then ask for that character. If you don’t say anything, and someone plays other characters, then you’re not going to get any results. If any of us could read minds, then we wouldn’t be in North Carolina.
I’ll say this though. If someone hasn’t learned their combos, their pokes, or any of the other shit that they can easily learn and practice in training mode, then I’m not going to take them seriously. This is because that player isn’t taking the game seriously, and no amount of play with my main is going to make them better. If you play Fei Long and you land a low short on me, and it doesn’t somehow turn into rekkas, then you’re not able to execute the gameplan from the beginning; nothing I can do will help you win unless you can convert on the situations handed to you.
If you blame things you can’t control, you end up with results that you can’t control. I can make myself better, so that’s what I worry about. The best communities consist mostly of players with this attitude.
EDIT: Damn ninja ass Jimmy.
