Haha, sorry again. All the U.S. Guys switched to Nash (even Electribe did too), but I was always planning on trying/maining Ibuki when she was out because I didn’t have much hope for Guy making it into SFV. #PutGuyinSFV
And, it looks like we’re all making the switch to Ibuki when she’s finally available:
Dang that’s interesting that all the Guy players are maining Nash… I was a Guy playing in SF4 for years (granted I more or less dropped him near the end) and I play Laura/Mika/Necalli in this game. Why Nash for Guy players?
I mained Guy as well in SF4… ONLY Guy… And I gravitated towards Nash since Beta 1 Day 1… Interesting indeed. Coincidence, or?
In any case, Nash is still not my favorite type of playstyle, not even close. Of course all you Guy players would know about that.
Been on and off on it for some months now. Lots of details to read on the right side, been working on the V-skill lately. It is a mix of USF4, Omega Mode and bit of Alpha Guy. During V-trigger especially in unlocks and changes a lot of things that Omega Mode Guy had. This sheet is far from complete, but the plan is to mod Guy in USF4 (or SFV if we get proper mod tools someday), like how this google sheet dictates, and test it all out and see how it would all work in real-time.
However I have ZERO experience with SF4 modding, and very limited on modding as a whole, so that might be a difficult task to do… I will probably need lots of help, who knows, perhaps I’ll have to end up paying some folks to help out.
@Eternal maybe you can give me your two cents on this case, since I know you have good knowledge and experience with modding sf4. I don’t even know how hard all of these mechanics or ideas would be to implement into SF4’s engine.
I honestly dont know. Just a weird co-incidence , they aren’t even similar character type. Only minor similarities I can see is the mobility and maybe the long range pokes.
But actually I think its because Nash is a “cool” character like Guy Lmao.
The other character most Guy players went to is Ken. We need Guy/Cody in this game Asap. They have a very unique playstyles.
I keep hearing that Nash beats Chun, and while I can sorta see it, I more so lean towards it being even.
I’d like to fight a strong Nash who can show me what’s up with this match. Already contacted @otter, if anyone else is super platinum or above please get in touch with me.
I don’t think it’s easy for Nash at all, it’s more that Chun players aren’t used to be challenged. “When you’re used to privilege, equality feels like oppression”. I’d say its 5-5
Because that’s so simple vs. a character with some of the best mobility with dashes, anti-airs, mid screen dominance, V-Reversal and counter-pokes in the game.
Everyone kept telling us for months Nash wasnt top 5. No wake up, shit walk speed, no true anti air option, slow buttons, not even as good of grab range as others.
Now all of the sudden he needs this nerf and that nerf in a game were a character like Ryu exists lol.
Perhaps a very basic question but what are the best options against Nash throwing a sonic boom from near full screen and dashing behind it?
Nash can antiair forward and neutral jumps with ex scythe, and if the opponent sits still it seems like he can make them block some (plus on block) normals, which then starts Nash’s pressure.
What normal is he hitting you with that is + on block. only his close normals are + on block , A single dash shouldnt be enough for those normals to reach.
Also you can try Dashing forward and Jumping over the fireball to cross him up. Also what character are you? Might have some anti FB options.
Congratulations on listing Nash’s strengths. You can stay free to him for the rest of SFV or learn and adapt, I really doubt he is going to get any huge nerfs.
Random comment but I love how Nash never sees any new tech compared to other characters. Kind of disappointing that all of his options and set up possibilities are exhausted already
At least he’s easy to play and requires 0 brain juice hehe
Its actually the opposite , when a character has no tech or gimmicks you need solid play to consistently win which is more mentally exhausting.
You can play Nash the braindead way , but then you will hit a wall and whatever you did so far would have been a waste. I see so many braindead Nash online , I see why its effective. But wont get you far in a tourney or give you any consistency.
